What are your thoughts on drugs/drug usage?
- Drugs are a personal problem, not a society problem, I suppose to have better control of the drugs we should go to the root of the problem which is society.
- drugs are fun. If your tense, they releave that tension. It's a way to get away from dealing with the shit we all put up with all day long
- drugs and alcohol can be tools for the right person to explor yourself
- They make people passive
- i feel that drug use isn't a crime it is drug sellers who kill and hurt that are crimnal
- They're Stupid!!!!
- Drugs are pretty good. I think that they should be legalized. It should be their choice
- I use marijuana for religious as well as medicainal purposes. I feel that it should be legalized, for there are so many benefits involved in doing such. I am against the heavy use of it, and I feel that to be legalized it should also be regulated.
- I am a Metamphetamine addict and all of you people don't even really see what is going on, All of the reporters, doctors and people that analyze things like this really don't get it. Also, parents shouldn't be allowed to put kids into rehab against their own will, you can ONLY quit for YOURSELF!
- People should do what they feel, and no one should tell them other wise. If some one does it then they should be prepared to face the conciquinces of thier actions. I'm 17 and I think that adult have no idea of how things really are. They make a big deal about things that they don't understand. Most of the people that I know drink and smoke for the fun of it. Granted we know that it illegal, but who really cares. It's not like we don't know that we can get caught. BIG DEAL!!!!!
- Beer is the best thing in life
- Drug use is an exercise in constitutional rights. Humans should be able to decide for themselves what they wish to injest. The more laws we impose on our society, the more controlled we become and the more we rights we relinquish.
- most drugs are good when used appropriately. ANYTHING can be bad when abused
- More people are killed by alcohol&nicotine than by all illegal drugs combined ,but governments make so much money they won't make booze or cigs illegal
- been there done that now i can move on
- Many of my friends do drugs and drink. it's not really because of peer pressure it just loosens you up and makes you more outgoing it also helps you forget your problems.
- Drugs and alcohol were once fun, but for me, they turned into a nightmare. I would not ban alcohol, but sometimes it's regulation is too loose. I have no problem with keep the drugs that are now illegal to remain so
- i think that most intelligent people could only benifit with a little altered brain chemistry. you can learn a lot from your altered states of awareness(if you choose to)..
- People use drugs for a varity of reasons. Some, to relax from lifes daily pressures, and yet others use drugs for medicenal purposes. Alcohol, marajuana, and tobacco are so strongly rooted in american culture that to irradicate them would be impossible. Prohibition proved how powerful alcohol had motivated americans to go around the law. Some drugs are so addictive that to leeagize them would be to invite a generation of people who might not be addicted to become addicted. Educating people to how drugs affect us seems to be still the best approach to handling drugs benefits and deficits. Mahalo reading this. others use drugs as vehicle of escape
- drugs are great for social events, makes everything funner such as school, sports events and brings friends together allowing us to express how we feel openly
- Rampant, destructive drug use is symptomatic of greater societal failures, rather than merely the cause of them.
- government should not be involved in usage by adults of any substance. Children should be regulated and laws which protect others from usage effects (motor vehicle laws, etc...) are necessary
- This is a personal choise but we need to protect the ones who can't protect themselves.
- I think that people who blame their problems on drugs are just shifting the blame. It's their own fault if their lives are messed up, drugs have helped many people. LSD has been shown to be very useful for psychological therapy, but the government still made it illegal. Pot is proctically harmless, but its still illegal. There are a lot of myths about all kinds of drugs, don't believe everything you're told.
- drugs only take people as far down as those people let themeselves be taken.
- Unless the govt does something about it, drug usage will increase in society
- a lot of people think that just for being legal, alcohol is not a drug, but it can be dangerous for those who drink...
- My thoughts are that I feel it is ok if you have tried things, but if you do drugs every day and sell drugs it is wrong.
- I thought it would never become a problem. But it did. DON'T DO IT DUDE!
- Some drugs should be legalized. If not synthetic ones, at least the natural ones. They were put on Earth for a reason!!!!
- I feel if someone wants to ruin their life with alcohol and drugs, let them because these individuals most likly do it regardless of its legality.
- Illegal Drugs are much too easy to obtain. We need to provide better educational tools to reach children at an earlier age and educate. Other issues need to be addressed also at an early age. For example, peer pressure, home environment, and self esteem. When there are problems in these areas, this leads to drug usage and abuse.
- drugs kick ass
- Drugs are bad.
- i like them. i think once in a while they are ok.
- People are just not responsible so therefore there should be not drugs or alcohol.
- I think if you can live your life with drugs and be fine, its when you live your life for drugs that you turn into the person who makes the whole thing look bad.
- DRUG ABUSE IS A SOCIAL ISSUE. PREVENTING A PROBLEM BEFORE IT OCCURS IS THE ANSWER. PARENTING PROGRAMS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR EVERY ONE. IT IS VERY SAD TO SEE YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DRUG ADDITIONS WHICH IMPAIR THEIR LIVES. SOMEONE DID NOT DO THEIR JOB AS A PARENT.
- Get your shit tooken care of and then you can party all you want.
- Too many teens are using drugs
- Legalize pot & the gov't get the 'pot' tax...& it's regulated (i.e. no dusting)
- After using drugs I feel extremly bad about myself.
- Leagalize it all. Survival of the fittest takes over. Dumb enough to get hooked on cheap coke.. You die. Problem solved.
- pian killers and other legal drugs are ok, but i think illeagal drugs and drugs that can hurt you are stupid and a waist of time because they never do any goood.
- whats wrong with this world? marijuana is a healing, calming, soothing herb that is only harmful because its SMOKED! I have yet to find a "drug" that has so many healing capabillities. wake up people! stop being so damn nieve! alcohol on the other hand kills, and it ruins people's lives. its obvious wich of these two should be leagal.
- i think there should be drug testing after all job or vehicle related accidents, and drug testing for all gov. employees and elected officials.
- we need to get rid of highly addictive drugs
- I tried marijuana when I was 17-18..just made me feel like I was drunk. If I need a buzz, I just drink a beer now!
- Drugs are a problem and at the same time can be a good thing that we need to recognize for aiding people in society. Although some drugs that should be legalized, they should also be controlled or sold high cost so things do not get out of hand.
- I have a hard time understanding why the government can prohibit naturally growing substances.
- I think that if they legalized marijuana that crime rates would drop, it's a double standard, if pot is illegal so should cigarettes.
- The effects and consequences of drug usage are as variable as the individuals using them.
- marijuana screwed up me mentaly but increased me socially
- Drugs help expand my mind, and should only be used to do that and not abused. the way people abuse drugs should be banned
- I DONT CARE
- This is supposed to be a free country, yet we are told what we can and can't do even though it affects only the user. I don't think people should be able to drive under the influence freely, but if someone wants to get high they have every right in the world to do so.
- alcohol is posin weed is a wonder drug that does so good things for people, there is no reason for weed to be illeagel
- I personally love prescription pain pills but I am sure there are people who would abuse them so they can't be legalized, but I supposed that is true with anything isn't it?
- they are cool
- it's stupid, people shouldn't need it to fit in
- hate them!!!!!
- I think marijuana should be legalized, but as far as other drugs goes such as crack, cocaine and others I think they should stay illegal or if you make them legal tax them and those want to use them will and those who do not will not use them.
- weed is not a hard drug like crack or any other additive drug and it should be Legal.
- I think people who are addicts are weak. I have done a lot of drugs and if you don't let them control you, you're cool.
- There should be a death penalty for second time offenders caught dealing drugs.
- I am only 15 now and my generation is lost. But better education can help other generations. For gods sake i know 3rd graders that smoke weed.
- I think the prohibition of these substances is more harmfull than the substances themselves.
- people can do what they want it is there live
- Drugs should be a personal issue. Government regulation of drugs has only helped proliferate them. Did we not learn from Prohibition.. the governement has created Mafias and gangs. The only way to take this country back from these terrorists is to take away their black market. Education and treatment are where all drug monies should go... not into drug law enforcement.
- I believe that many people use drugs only because it seems the easiest way out of a situation. Especially teenagers... and they use them to the extreme. If alcohol were accessible to younger persons, perhaps they wouldn't get fully drunk when they drink, and only drink lightly (which some studies have shown to be healthy.)
- I think that alcohol should be made less available to younger people and i also think that if people would try to teach their childeren better about certain drugs efects it would be less of a problem. look at a crack head you want to be like that Johny? catch my drift.
- Drugs only hurt people in the long run and they should stay illegal and we should try our best to eliminate them
- drugs are a personal thing. some people can handle it. others cannot.
- Law abiding adults within in the confines of their own homes, should be able to make the decision as to what substances they choose to put into their bodies. Certain substances should be made available to those members of the community who feel that they use them for a personally empowering reason. Prohibition does not work. The war on drugs has been lost. Time to start looking after the casualities.
- I do not use any illegal drugs, and few that are legal -- but they all should be legal because it is not the government's business. The most pernicious are cocaine/amphetamine: prolonged abuse causes paranoia; alcohol: causes sociopathic behavior in many users and is very addictive to many; tobacco: the most addicive and very deadly. Opiates were legal until 1904, worldwide, and there was not much of a problem with them.
- It is morally wrong.
- i think we need to better educate people. just sayong dont do it obviously does not work. we need to show people what happpens, not just tell them.
- control on the dealers and the countries that exports them
- I don't see what the big deal is about pot. If I had a kid I would much rather them smoke pot than drink alcohol.
- as a disabled vet. and 60's teenager i believe personnal freedom far out way's any problem with drug's /since i married a thai (very religous does not do drugs)and went to buddist temples with her both in u.s. and thailand,i come to believe that most of our thinking and ideal's in the u.s. are filled with holes.who in the hell say's goverment has the right to out law drug's/gun's ect. and who the hell gave doctor's the almighty right to be the only people to dispense drug's
- I think that it is hard to regulate a substance when it is illegal...for example the difficulty regulating alcohol when it was prohibited...it might be easier if it was legal and had strict laws which accompanied....
- I believe that certain drugs should be legalized according to their use
- Self responsibility is the key, not government regulation. Drugs, themselves are not bad, just the people who make dumb decisions. Let people use freely, but hit them HARD if they screw up and hurt somebody because of their usage.
- I have no Opinion
- Personally, I think all drugs should be availible and people should be able to choose for themselves wether or not to do them. Also it is up to the family to teach there children what is wrong an right and let them make there own decisions. So if people want to fuck up there life with hard core drugs.....fine, it will help the overpopulation problem if nothing else.
- Drugs work and if you can moderate them without hurting other people go for it
- I believe marijuana should be legalized as well as penalties, especially first offenders, should cost them half of what they have. Second offense, the other half plus 2 years of whatever they will get. Third offense, everything of monetary value for 15 years. Any failure to liquidate assets and pay fines or restitution requires minimun 10 years of hard labor. Take away all priviledges and treat criminals like criminals instead of patronizing them. They have lost all rights.
- Drugs can be very fun. They can also be very dangerous. Every person deals with drugs in a different manner, but overall they are bad and addictive.
- these things are issues that should be studied and given the proper time thoughts to deal with.
- I have little sympathy for those that use them.
- experimentation is ok for some poeple, but addiction and regular use is never a good situation.
- It makes people stupid and paranoid, and I believe people need to think before they use illegal drugs or alcohol.
- I only did alcohol and marijuana because at the time I was confused about who I was as a person. I didn't stop until I gained some maturity and realized that I didn't like what the drugs did to me.
- certain drugs are ok to do sometimes
- too many people use drugs for the wrong reasons.
- The choice to use drugs is far to personal to be regulated by the government. Long term drug use can have very positive effects for many people, as long as they are used in moderation. The current atmosphere of drug education does not tell children the truth, encouraging them to experiment in unhealthy ways. Also, drug prohibition causes many more societal problems than drugs ever have, like driving up prices so that addits have to steal, giving enourmous power and wealth to street gangs and wasting billions of dollers of taxpayer money each year.
- drug use should be based on educated people, educate the people and they will be equiped to make the choice
- People who abuse drugs should be sent somewhere for help. People who supply illegal drugs should be sent to Hell. supplying illegal drugs is equal to committing murder and should have the same sentences or even more harsh penalties, and that goes for government entities as well.
- Drugs are very cool and are good to have a good time
- It is all dumb.
- iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
- How can alcohol be legal when marajuana isn't?
- I believe drugs should be legalized to decrease violent crimes in our society.
- Never tried; don't intend to
- no answer
- drug use is a personal decision.... if you have a problem with that, then screw you.
- drugs are bad
- DRUGS BAD DRUGS BAD BAD NOT GOOD DRUGS NOT GOOD DRUGS BAD
- I feel that there is a significant diffence in hard drugs and light drugs...things such as marajuana should be legal..
- I love alcohol; i hate weed
- All illegal drugs are socially, physically, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically damaging, and anyone who thinks they should be legalized or who uses them is sick.
- discovered I'm alcoholic I went to AA .its work
- I think more education would be good, but I don' think it would really help too much. People have to learn from their own mistakes.
- I think if they were legal there would be less crime and no drug dealers an
- I believe some drugs help people 'medicate' themselves from the stress of life. Even if it doesn't solve problems; we do need a little relief now and then.
- Drugs should be used only by people who are responsible enough to deal with the effects.
- I strongly believe that pot should be legal. Police should focus on more violent crimes and reduce the amount of intelligent young people who are wasting their potential in an institution.
- I think that drugs are available to mst of society even though they are illegal
- They are bad news
- The government has no business regulating anything we do. No one can decide what's right for a person, except themselves. If someone is stupid enough to overdose, and kill themselves, then that's their problem, and they didn't deserve live anyway if they're that stupid.
- Drugs aren't that bad really, I mean almost everyone uses some sort of drug. Marijuana should really be studied and legalized as it doesn't pose as much of a problem as many other drugs do. Also, instead of blaming the tobacco and alcohol companies for underage usage we should look to the parents. If the parents would just pay attention to their children and give a darn what they are up to then they could stop usage.
- I think rather than treating drugs as a legal problem we should treat them as a medical problem.
- "Just say NO" is not the answer. Kids need to know consequences, like jail, no life, death, etc.
- Marijuana should be trated more like alcohol. All things in MODERATION.
- drugs and alcohol is a personal freedom, not something someone else or a government should have any say in
- opiates are cures but allow people to fuck themselves
- Marijuana should be legal
- Sweeeeeeeet!
- well personally i believe that marijuana should be a legal substance and should be readily available to those over 18
- The DUI/Law enforcement and Judicial system system in California is highly corrupt.
- DRUGS ARE HORRIBLE AND ARE USELESS
- Drugs and alcohol are for occasional FUN... they are not a daily event! Putting something in your mouth that makes you dull, stupid or insensitive to others is bad news... that would be: drugs and alcohol.
- The USA is behind the times on marijuana legalization!!!
- If one drug is legalized all should be with no regulation by government because people have a right to do what they want even if it harms them. If companies don't like it, they have a right to do drug tests.
- I don't care what people do in private so long as it doesn'r adversley affect anyone else.
- It is a personal issue
- they are used to escape reality
- Use for recreational SUPPLEMENT. Don't let it become a life style. And tax the hell out of it.
- I hate drugs! I know people who are on them and they are horrible.
- Drugs KILL
- marijuana is safer and better for everyone than either alcohol or nicotine.
- I think that if it was alowed openly then people would get sick or it and not abuse the privelage
- Responsibility is the key word. If you want to use drugs, then you
- Drugs should be made legal, highly regulated and severly taxed. Take away that "bad boy" image and you'll find many people won't want to do them.
- Drugs such as marijuana are less damaging and harmful than alcohol. Why should they be outlawed when alcohol is freely available. Use is ok as long as it does not negatively affect others around you. If the same regulations and measures were applied to the sale and consumption of legalized marijuana, I feel that we could lessen drug related crimes.
- Drugs suck. Alcohol sucks. That's that.
- I used to do drugs and drink. Drugs and alocohol are the two stupidest things I have ever done in my entire life.
- It depends on the user - If done safely and responsibly, there should not be a problem
- I think if you are strong minded, you should be open minded towards some drugs like shrooms, acid and mary jane
- a lttle experimenting is not wrong but it is those people that get out of control who ruen it for the rest that controlably and socialy have fun
- People are going to do it anyway, so it should be legalized and the government should tax the s**t out of it.
- Legal drugs should be used in moderation. Not excessively. Stricter regualations should be placed on illegal drugs
- I think that they should all be made illegal except for achol
- I just think it's wrong. Only marijuana should be legal, but just for medicinal purposes. I lose all respect for users.
- "To EVERYTHING there is a season..."
- dealer heavily punished-users helped more
- The Drug War is bullshit. If drugs were legalized, alot of crime would end and the prisons would not be overcrowded. People should be free to do to/with their bodies whatever they please. The best way to handle the drug problem is to HONESTLY educate people about what's harmful and what's not and medically treat people with problems. Clean needles should be provided for free. The DARE program is bullshit. It lies and turns kids into finks.
- I think drugs should be kept away from youth, but adults should be allowed to have them as long as they're responsible, then they should regulate laws more if we aren't responsible.
- It's interesting and fun.
- Marijuana should be legalized for the purpose of medical purposes
- There out there so deal with it.
- Illegal drugs are the source of 80% of all crime... legalize and we'll all live in a safer world.
- The use of drugs is a personal choice. Restrictions of drug use should only pertain to drug related activities that may infringe upon the rights of another person.
- i think that drugs should be used under a controlled secumstance and heavy duty drugs like crack and stuff like that should be outlawed but marijuana should be legalized and everything else should stay the same.
- Well, I'm more into alcohol than drugs but I think drugs really fuck up your life and all those stupid losers that are like "yeah drugs, they kick ass" most of them are just damn liars and they've never done drugs or they are a bunch of bums who waste their life and money on that shit.
- It should be a personal choice. Drugs are a distraction, as an issue or as a diet.
- Ohkay I am not sure, it is all a rather confusing issue; I guess that pot doesn't seem as bad as alcohol, seems to have pretty much the same effect. But then again I wouldn't really know since I've never actually gotten drunk or stoned, I'm just trying to have an open mind. I don't want to be one of those people who never try anything, cuz then you'd never really know if the DARE thing was really right, it could be that they just didn't want you to have any fun. I guess it doesn't really matter if any drugs are legal at all, since people are gonna use 'em anyways. Ohkay well I guess thats all i gotta says.
- From my experience alcohol & tobacco are far more dangerous than marijuana. WHY?
- it is a big problem
- certain drugs should not be readily available to people, i know of people that share prescription drugs for some strong medications
- marijuana is fine..man made...should be legalized
- Certain drugs should be legal, like marijuana. If all the people who were arrested for Marijuana were fined instead of jailed, the gov. would have more money and the jails could be used for people who deserve to be there.
- people should take responsibility for themselves and their actions
- it should be a personal choice
- Hard drugs are real bad i.e. cocaine ,heroine. every other drug is bad, but boys will boys and we san't really stop it. Cigars and pipes should be legalised for minors but not cigaretes, alchohal laws should be more relaxed, like in europe.
- I think that all drugs can have positive effects, and all drugs can have negative effects. The main problem is overusing drugs, and misinforming the public about drugs. Drugs can have positive effects, it just must be remembered that they are not toys.
- drugs are cool, dont listen to the commercial
- I think that drugs can be bad if you do not know how to deal with them.
- do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.
- If you have a medical need for them they should be available to you, I think doctors are fearful of prescribing them .
- MARIJUANA IS SAFER THAN ALCHOL Y0U DO NOT HEAR OF HUSBANDS BEATING WIVES, OR HIGH DRIVERS KILLING AS MANY PEOPLE AS ALCHOL PROHIBITION SHOULD RETURN
- I believe certain perscription drugs help but alot could use more testing. Illegal drugs should not be taken as no proven tests on longterm effects have really been done. Its just too dangerous.
- Iit's alright at the appropriate times
- All drugs are very addictive, and have harmful effects on the body.
- Drugs used in a healthy moderation is ok and the ones that use drugs in moderation should be allowed to do so legally.
- I don't like the higher drugs then marijuana. People are going to do drugs and experience on their own.
- DruGs are COoool
- I wish alcohol and cigarette smoking were not so prevalent among today's youth. I wish people would realize that alcohol is not needed to have a good time, and that friends that pressure you into drugs are not real friends.
- legalize weed!
- Everyone should just do their own thing.
- individual choice.
- Drug and Alcohal use is fine until it affects other people in a negative way =P
- Light drugs and alcohol are wonderful when used in moderation; punish only those who use them irresponsibly (ie drink and drive)
- I can't live without beer or liquor
- Growing problem in our society. For Political reasons is allowed to exist. Need to totally eliminate it so that children can grow up in safe schools and environments.
- Personal education and family values
- I abstain because I have seen what they can do to someone's life.
- Drugs arelike anything else in this world: abuse of them leads to problems and responsible use by persons that are mentally able to do so can be life-enhancing.
- kyrjryt
- Though I disapprove of drug use and personally avoid even prescription drugs, I believe legal prohibition is a violation of individual rights and in addition promotes organized crime.
- anything done to excess is bad...moderation is key
- Marijuana should be legalized for many reason.
- people who know their limits can enjoy alcohol once a while and do it wisely, without any harm to others
- Some people make to big of a deal over some drugs. Like Marijuiana, it's really a harmless drug. They should legalize it.
- We need to find out what makes people take that first drink or hit. I think that is the begining to solving the drug problem.
- experience is the key, talk to one or be one
- at least half of the drug problems are created by the fact that they are illegal and people have to buy them on the black market and they don't know what they are getting. Legalize and educate.
- Drugs and alochol are needed in the society. I hate when parents get mad at you for trying it eventhough they tried it when they were younger
- Alcohol and drugs can ruin families. If a person doesn't know when enough is enough, they need to get help. Harsher penalties should be inforced for users and dealers.
- I hate drugs & drug usage. Moderate alcohol consumption is OK but people who take drugs affect the people that they are around & that is NOT OK.
- I love marijuana. I am what some people would call a nerd. When I smoke Marijuana, I have an easier time interacting with people and expressing myself and my thoughts to people.
- only on medical usage would be great for those who need it
- I believe that drugs are destructive. I think that God put them here only for medical use when appropriate.
- By having many drugs made illegal, we set ourselves up for failure. We are moving so fast as a society and confronting such huge psycho/social issues, that drug use has almost become a means of survival. Until issues of poverty, oppression and abuse are humanely addressed we should be allowed or better yet, EXPECTED to be safe, informed users of substances in order to maintain day to day functioning and humanity.
- It is a war that seems to be out of control. We need to educate our children on the hazards and consequences of using drugs. This needs to start at home. Our children are a product of our environment, so we need to set an example at home.
- IT RUINS LIVES AND FAMILYS
- I have researched and found that I don't like and would never try the majority of drugs on your survey, but I like that I made that choice for myself, and if I ever wanted to use those harmful drugs, I would be free to do so. Don't get me wrong, I never would... but I want the freedom to make that choice for myself.
- There's a huge difference between marijuana and other drugs. People who use marijuana should not be treated like criminals.
- It's unfortunate that a Viet-Nam veteran who not only smokes marijuana for medicinal purposes, but also applies it to his sore hip and knee which he developed fighting for this country, can be arrested and convicted of 1 year in jail for each plant grown. Landing him with, what police claimed, was 75 plants. Along with 20 years for intent to sell and the judge dismissing 'medicinal usage' as 'irrelevant'. When we do this with the people who fight for this country and let those who back cars over their wives 11 times out for parole in 4 months. I'm not saying the world will be perfect if marijuana is legal, I'm just saying it will be a hell of alot easier to do something that millions of people do already that accually has never ONCE killed anyone. Well...except when 125 pounds fell on a guys head during a bust.
- There are no "good drugs" or "bad drugs". All have side effects. Lets legalize them, put the black market out of business, and collect the taxes!
- Too many people are going to jail for not hurting ANYONE! I smoke marijuana, and have done other drugs, and I have never hurt ANYONE. I am one of the nicest people around, and so are too many of my friends, and we dont hurt anyone. I know for a fact that marijuana is illegal for the sole purpose of geed. The government can make so much more money off of marijuana being illegal than it being legal, and that is pure fact, I could go on and on about this, but i hope that one day the authority in this coun ry stops and realizes that there are too many innocent people going to jail and prison for the greed of the government.
- A disturbing side effect of the War on Drugs, is that it has created an artificial class of people called "druggies" and encourages children to hate them.
- i personally like drugs because they are fun, but some people have problems controlling their own actions while intoxicated.
- I find some drugs and alcohol fun. It gets my mind off things so that I can relax. I don't think what I do is right though.
- I think that Pot and alcohol should be the only legal substances I don't think that they are the real problem I think that educating people about them is the real problem
- Marijuana should be as legal as alcohol, the others should continue current regulations.
- I currently avoid all drugs, as I prefer letting my body be how it wants to be.
- People should be educated on drug usage at an early age, and continue to be educated throughout life. I also believe certain drugs, like marijuana, should be legalized for medical use only. Not only would the health benefit be there, but government would have control of the drug, and receive a little profit.
- I feel that marijuana, tobacco, alcohol and caffine are the only "drugs" that should be allowed on the market, and marijuana should only be used for medical reasons. I also think that it is sad that people can be addicted to alcohol ands drugs.
- The government has as much right to regulate drugs as they do to dictate the color of shirts you wear.
- handle with care, and swedish snuff should be used instead of cigarettes:)
- In my opinion, as long as their actions do not infringe upon the eual liberty of others, people should have the liberty to do as they wish. Therefore, no one should be prevented from using drugs by other people (unless that drug use infringes on others' liberty, e.g., there is a mutually consented contract to the effect that the user should not use drugs). I find the criminalization of drugs to be morally abominable and the consequences thereof frightening.
- I truly feel it has screwed up our present day society
- should be tried at least once to be undesrstood in the intaking of others.
- Drugs are for losers. I should know. Half of my family are drug addicts.
- It is wrong and bad for your health. The government needs to do more to control our country's drug problem.
- people are gonna do it anyways
- Anyone who messes with drugs is ultimately either going to regret it, or end up dead.
- support NORMAL
- okay for occassional use.
- Occasional drinking and smoking of tobacco is fine.
- only for medical reason marijuana should be ligalized, pescribed by a doctor.
- There should be stiffer penalties when caught.
- usually no one should have the right to tell a healthy adult what he must not take to stimulate himself (as long as no one else is affected)
- If people are doing drugs and causing no harm to anyone then they should be allowed to. When people go too far then they should be punished for it
- I have tried drugs but haven't touch any in over 11 years
- Mind-altering drugs are the basest and most destructive forms of escapism.
- certain drugs should be legalized and education, prevention, and rehabilitaion should be our main focus, people naturally want to relieve stress, "get high", as long as they are not hurting others, what's up? Do we have to protect ourselves from ourselves? or can we be whatever we want to be?
- it cranks
- please do not use drugs.
- it's like playing with fire, you can get burned!
- the government should be stiffer on drugs.even if it has to result to shoot to kill for dealers.anthingmjust to get them out of the streets
- Drugs are not whats bad, it the type of people who abuse them!
- I feel like the usage is on the rise and the most frequently used drug is coke and crank!
- All drugs should be mad legal. It would fix the world
- show people what true harm can come from excess use
- We need to do something about crack addiction. It's ruining our social structure
- some people use drugs for the wrong reasons but as for anyone the deeper you get the harder it is to quit
- alcohol is as much a drug as marijuanna or tobacco. the legalization of one drug and not another is retarded. people who have drug problems should be helped, and not punished.
- Now then kids - drugs are baaad, etc. etc. etc.
- if they are done responsibly and in moderation then i dont see a big problem. no hard core drugs such as cocain or heroine should be leagal.
- If you are stupid enough to do drugs, you deserve any side effect that may occur.
- I have been the enthusiastic user of marijuana and mushrooms for the last two years, carrying a 3.4 gpa in school. I see no harm in the legalization of either of these drugs. I'm going to go smoke a bong.
- Drugs are not the problem it is the way that society has chosen to deal with the subject. more education and legalisation so that it can be regulted is what is needed.
- i like to use crack
- I have used prescription drugs for pain for several years due to two auto accidents. I deal with mostly senior citizens and do find that there is a good deal of combined drug and alcohol use. The main cause is loneliness and feeling of abandmonment. Drugs should continue to be regulated.
- Addictive drugs should remain illegal and programs by the government should be implemented to provide recovery and rehab from drug usage. Marijauana and Alcohol should remain legal, but regulated for age appropriate usage.
- my brain is my business
- Drugs are cool they help me relax
- Smoke'm if you got'em, more power to ya! I feel as though individuals should decide for themselves if they choose to use 'drugs' or not, and at what frequency they chose to use them. Sure, certain Hard drugs like Heroin should be illegal - but what you can't have, will only make you want it that much more. Where there's a will, there's a way!!! So be happy, for you only have one life - you can't come back to do things differently; (ENJOY LIFE).
- I think its ok in moderation, like only on the weekends and NEVER in excess!
- I vanna vdrink vsome vodka
- It's down to the individual, but if you have an addictive personality you should steer clear.
- Moderation tempered with excess is a valid method for survival.
- I think that drug use is a problem in society but the government makes to big a deal out of it
- make pain meds available without a perscription
- Drugs & Alcohol, their users and dealers, are used as a scape-goat to distract society from important issues i.e. the degradation of the planet, the dumbing down of the world, war, famine etc.
- Prohibition doesn't work... it only exacerbates the drug problem through the huge amounts of money involved. Legalize drugs and deal with the problems on an individual basis.
- I think heavy drugs are very unhealthy and disturbing especially when the younger age groups are addicted to Cocaine & shit like that
- If one uses common sense, drugs like marijuana should pose no threat to society in general. If it was legal I believe life would go on as normal just better regulations on it.
- Certain Drugs can be useful in helping terminal patients, and under those circumstances those drugs should be available to those who need it.
- Education is the key... if people are educated honestly, they can choose to try or use certain substances- i believe marijuana should be legalized.
- marijuana is not as bad as alcohol. more people lose their tempers drinking than they do smoking marijuana.
- I've never tried any of it except for prescription drugs. I would like our world to be drug and alcohol free.
- To have alcohol and tobacco legal and not pot is so hypercritcal. If I drink I will die. If I smoke pot to stop pain and get an apetite I can go to jail. Outlawing pot only forces peplewhoshould be free to smoke it criminals tax payers must pay to keep in jail. Legalize pot and you don;t have to pay for prisoners or law enforcement, and you can tax it a create an incredable amount of money for health care and our elderly. You can't stop people from drinking or smoking. So why not tax it?
- I think all drugs are theoretically ok; people should be able to do what they want with their bodies and their free time. However, the fact that people tend to do very bad things when on certain drugs, and the likelihood of certain drugs to be addicting, makes me think that marijuana should be legalized, but all other currently illegal drugs should probably stay that way.
- drugs are for weak minded people who want to submit to something other than their own willpower. However, I fully support the freedom of idiots to be idiots, as long a sit's in a controlled environment. Make everyone aware of what drugs do (not just to your health, but to your personality and self) and then let whoever wants to screw themselves over do it.
- When you are able to control your own mind, why use drugs?
- It's not healthy for you
- As long as the drug user is aware of the problems and side effects, and use in moderation, I have no problems with drugs or drug usage. The harder drugs should stay illegal, but marijuana should be legalised. More social problems occur due to alcohol than marijuana.
- I think all drugs should be legalized. It would reduce crime, and make it easier to help people who have problems. I also think it infringes our rights to deny us drugs.
- I think some drugs are the coolest things to try. They make me relax and have a good time with my friends. I don't think their would be more accidents if marijuana was legalized. I'm high right now filling out this survey.
- drugs are bad
- There is a big difference between casual use and abuse. In general there are bigger fish to fry.
- Drugs is a toutchy subject because there's such stigma behind using any drug. I don't think all drugs should be legal, but there are ways to decriminalize drugs like marijuana.
- marijuana is good for you
- I think that drugs should be regulated for certain purposes not for pleasure because they are adictive.
- Marijuana is in many instances less harmful than alcohol, yet remains illegal. Personally I did not enjoy the effects of it, but many do.
- Drugs should be used but not abused. The problem with drugs isn't people who experiment or use them occasionally but with those who make a life out of them.
- I luv Drugz.
- some drugs are treated too seriously, but if they were made legal there would be more problems than there are now.
- there is a difference between use and abuse, not all use is abuse!
- things should stay the way they are
- I'm a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor and think that there is a problem in todays society with both alcohol and drugs. I think that the law that is in place should be more strictly enforced.
- You should be able to tell me my thoughts after I answered the survey!
- I think that the drinking age should be lowered, and more drugs should be legalized. This is how it is in many other places, and they have far more control on personal usage than people in the US
- End the "War On Drugs" : Vote Libertarian!
- They're contributing nothing at all to our siciety but toaking so much away
- Society itself needs to force their expectations on the guilty parties( i.e drug dealers, users) The government is proven innefective in dealing with the wide spread personal problems of society
- when used properly they can benifit. misuse and abuse is where the problem lies.
- I think there are too many hangups about the less serious drugs (ie marijuana and alcohol) in this country.
- drugs and alcohol should not be accepted by courts of law as an acceptable reason for reducing sentences. Accidental deaths related to drug/alcohol abuse such as car accidents etc. should be treated as though the offender deliberately set out to cause mischief.
- I believe that it's up to the individual person to have the freedom to do whatever he/she wants to do, if they're willing to pay the consequenses if they overdo their pleasure. but, I believe that the government should stay out of the private lives of honest citizens as long as they're not hurting anyone.
- Pot is about the strongest drug that should be leagalized, crack dealers should be shot!
- I think that the government has come up with the idea that if penalties for drug use are tough enough then the problem will go away. When in fact that doesn't seem to be helping at all. Truthfully I don't know what should be done to stop this problem.
- it's all good in moderation
- Never tried any illegal drugs, never will. Tried alcohol as a teen, never touched it again. It serves no purpose to me.
- Drugs open your mind to things you may or may not be able to succesfully deal with.It depends on the person. There are many harmful effects of drugs. I don't agree with people that say Marijuana is a gate way drug. There are factors within people that affect their decision to first try Marijana. Most people have tried it and are fine. The people that smoke still can easily get away with it. It's worst attribute is it makes a person lazy and that is not in accordance with our image of an ambitous society So, the political decision makers will never make it legal. If it was legal, then Mushrooms or something would be labeled the gateway drug.
- The effect of drugs and the pattern of use are framed by the social circumstances in which it occurs. Usage and abuse should be taken within that context.
- Legalize Marijuana but information is the key to controlling the problems. If kids really knew what heroin or other hard drugs did to them and they aren't stupid, they would never try it in the first place. Teach your children to be leaders not followers.
- Drug use in adolescents mostly results from curiosity and a desire to achieve a sort of slef-worth. We need to build programs in communities which offer positive environments for children to interact socially while finding healthy alternatives that make them feel good.
- I have more or less "experimented" with the alcohol and tobacco, but the conclusion is I didn't like either, have not become addicted to either and know I don't want to use either.
- friends don't let friends lose drugs
- i think drugs like marijuana and such of the sort that do not destroy lives such as speed and heroin, should be legalized
- All drugs should be legalized. Legalization of drugs such as marijuana has been shown to decrease the amount of users of harder drugs
- Everyone has a right to privacy, but as far as children making informed decisions, they need to have the education and be given the ability to say no.
- We need to crack down on usage among teens and let adults make thier own decisions on legal substances. Other drugs are illegal for a reason - keep it that way.
- I believe drug use in our nation is a problem. Everyday children are using drugs. It is too easy for them to get their hands on them. We have to crack down on drugdealers.
- I DON'T NECESSARILY ADVOCATE DRUG USE, BUT I FEEL THAT SOME SHOULD BE LEGALIZED
- I think that every year the drug problem gets worse; we need new ways to deal with the problem. There needs to be something done, education, strickter laws, or what have you to get drugs off our streets and out of our schools and communities.
- Education and Reason are the key to any problem. Marijuana is illegal for no reason. I think anything that doesn't have to be made in a labratory should be legal. Man-made drugs that are used to get high should be illegal or at least restricted. Marijuana, mushrooms and peyote are natural and in some cultures religious drugs that should NEVER be illegal. The only reason they are illegal is because some big shot's pocket book was threatened.
- forward motion/make you sway like the ocean/the herb is more than just a powerful potion
- I think drugs used at home for ones self should freely be that persons choice
- Drugs are great if You know how to use them and smart enough not to let it affect Your life in a negative way.
- They don't really affect me.
- Some people, who are in constant physical/mental/emotional pain do need something a little stronger than 75 mg of sertraline or morphine per day. Why should we deny them that?
- This is a personal choice. It should not be left to the government to decide what we can and can't put into our own bodies. Jailing marijuana users only results in turning harmless potheads into hardened criminals.
- I've had very bad problems with meth people should stay away from evey thing but pot
- I am very opposed to drug use (except as prescribed for medical reasons. No one should use illegal drugs. Drug dealers should be given prison sentences when caught.
- I think marajuana should be legal for many reasons. There are more important things to spend tax dollars on. I believe that it would be less available to children and teen agers it they had to enter a store much like the liquor store and show proof of age. And I also believe that the effects of marajuana are much less severe than the effects of aclcohol.
- Personnal, private use should be up to the adult's choice.
- Drugs are cool.
- Live and let live. If people want to take drugs, that is their choice. If they don't harm anyone while doing so, I don't have a problem with it.
- i think marijuana should be legalized since it has no real side affects and is basically harmless it is also non-addictive
- We should use the Military to deal with drugs abroad, and ridilin and Prozac should be eliminated from use for ever
- Certain drugs are extremely bad and marijuana should't even be associated with them.
- Firstly I think the term should be 'alcohol & other drugs, rather than alcohol & drugs, because alcohol is a drug which contributes to far more social problems such as domestic violence, than drugs such as marijuana.
- WE NEED BETTER PARENTS TO INTERACT AND WATCH THEIR CHILDREN AND FOR THEM TO MAINTAIN A POSITIVE, OPEN RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR KIDS -AND THEY MUST ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR KIDS IF ANYTHING IS TO GET BETTER!
- Drugs is Good
- speed kills
- They're fine as long as they are taken in moderation.
- i have taken several drugs in my lifetime and i feel that speed and coke is the best. drugs are good in moderation, but no in excess..as with everything
- legalize the light drugs
- IT IS YOUR CHOICE,DO NOT HURT ANYONE ELSE, ENJOY
- Our idiot culture encourages people to use really harmful drugs, ie tobacco, alcohol, diet pills even caffiene, and yet, marijuana, which is less harmful than most over the counter drugs
- I feel raising the drinking age to 21 was a mistake. This makes for a huge group of "underage" drinkers who are old enough to vote and go to war. It doesn't make sense!
- Nicotine should be banned.
- I believe and support the free will of the individual to make decisions regarding their life for themselves. If the government feels it is its duty to stop drug use then it must remember that it is the tool of the people and must therefore must leave a gray area such as this to be decided by the individual him/herself. Drug testing should not be enforced by the governments. If a company wants to include drug testing as part of its they must not ask the government to back them on their decision. The must be responsible for their decisions.
- There is too much drug usage in America today and while we should put more stringent sentences on dealers but also the users. We need to have more education about drug and alcohol abuse in our school systems.
- Most anti-drug laws have a more religous basis, rather than rational one. It makes no economic or practical sense to keep commonly used drugs illegal.
- Marijuana should be legalized and cigarettes should be ILLigalized
- I think that certain drugs should be legalized, but others, such as heroin and cocaine should not be legalized under and circumstances.
- pro total legalization
- some drugd are good, some are bad, judgement by individuals is required
- I don't use drugs, but I think they should be, mostly unregulated.
- Will be an issue forever. Certain minor drugs should be legal and regulated.
- If one regulates themselves and handles themselves PROPERLY,drugs and alcohol should be allowed.Responsibility is the key.
- It's no one's buisness but your own
- Experiment all you can in life.. only live once. But there is a line you just dont cross.
- I think it is very stupid for a person to pollute their body and ultimately distroy it.
- Highly addictive drugs are no good. Consiousness expanding drugs are great for therapy. Everything in life should be done in moderation.
- Education and police enforcement are the keys to preventing unnecessary deaths in these issues.
- Yes, I have experimented with several types of drugs. But I think that life is much more fuller without drugs. I just know that I want to live a good long life and be the best mom that I can be to my daughter. It also is not worth putting your body through that kind of agony.
- They're not evil. We need to move away from this culture of hysteria. Unfortunately, the current hype against tobacco indicates that this isn't going to happen anytime soon. People need villains, I guess.
- The drug war is one case in which THE CURE IS WORSE THAN THE DISEASE.
- Should all be legal, sue to unalienable rights.
- Drugs and alcohol were a trip,,, but the trip always ends up the same....Jails,,, Insrtitutions ,,, or death....
- all drugs should be legalized but made illegal to sell with strict penalties for anyone caught selling or trafficking them. you should be able to do any drugs you want to, only if youre willing to go through the hassle of making/growing them yourself. this will allow those responsible enough to recreationally use drugs without consequence use them, but cut back on overall drug use, especially by those who use them irresponsibly.
- Like I said, Marijuana should be legalized. And that's it. Other drugs such as cocaine and heroine are dangerous, so I think they should stay illegal.
- not too bad in moderation
- I do not feel that cannabis should be classed like other drugs. People who smoke cannabis are much less likely to get into trouble than people who are drunk. The smoker's don't want that kind of hassle!! Just take a look at Amsterdam and learn!
- It's cool and relieves stress.
- i think that drugs are a way for people to leave their everyday lives and just relax.
- experimenting with mind altering substances is intrinsic to growing up for many people. pushing the limits of yourself and other s(ie family/friends) is a challenge or a war. problem is you never know till you get there, exactly which one its gonna be.
- Society accepts drinking and a drunk much more freely before he sits down behind the wheel of a two ton auto and kills someone. Maybe when drinking is unexcepable anywhere will the killing stop!
- Marijuana should be legal in all 50 states
- Would you rather ride with someone drunk or someone stoned if you HAD to make the decision? Marijuana should be legal, it is more beneficial than alcohol and nicotine which are legal. There are also fewer side effects.
- Drug usage is one of those things that you fool around with in your early years but eventually you grow out of it. Some people never quit but, a person has to make choices for themselves no one can make them quit.
- overall most illegal drugs and alcohol are dangerous and should be banned completely.
- o.k. if used in moderation and does not interfere with work or study. I think the penalties for drug possesion, etc. are too strict.
- drugs and alchol are very insidious chemicals. although I do not regret my experiences with drugs I certainly would suggest that people stay away from them.
- It would never be possible to completely banish drugs and alcohol. Somehow someone would get they and others would buy them form them.
- I have been smoking pot on a daily basis ever since I started 5 years ago. It has its good days and bad days. As long as it does not interfere with a persons daily activity then it is not a problem. Once a person relies on it for comforting reasons does that person need to find help.
- I feel as if certain drugs, such as alcohol and marijuana, should be legal but watched. Other hard drugs should stay illegal and have harsher punishments
- Personal liberty is more important than bureaucratic regulation
- Was highly addicted to cocaine and very strongly feel that there should be tighter consiquences on drug users and dealers/suppliers.
- Freedom of choice in all aspects of life, as long as you don't hurt anyone else!
- Ot
- I think it is more of a problem for people than we like to admit to ourselves.
- I think that drugs are very dangerous if are over-used, or used without perscription. Drugs may effect people's health very badly
- Should be a personal choice, experimentation can be a good thing for many people, so long as it doesn't get out of control.
- drugs/alcohol are generally bad for your body and mind
- The current method of Law Enforcement has altogether failed. Legal, government produced & taxed drugs is the ONLY way to a) end most violent drug-related crime, b) have enough money saved from less law enforcement to educate people and heal the addicted, and c) to raise badly needed revenue for schools & other social issues.
- People don't warn of the health problems related to drugs for their own health. Listen when people try to help you.
- By legalizing ALL substances, information on the downside will be more availiable. The recurring heroin fad,for example,is fed by legends of how"cool"it is,once the horror it can bring is forgotten.
- Drugs and alcohol are ok, if used in limitations. But I can't think of any way to limit everybody's use, so there will most likely always be a problem. I don't drink too much and I'm been drinking for about 11 years. I smoke far lees pot these days, and it's getting less and less. So if you're able to control yourself, your ok - but of course not everyone can.
- i gotta stop. it's fuckin up my brain.
- Whilst there is a demand for illegal drugs, they will provide a market in which criminals can profit. Therefore the demand needs to be removed, legalisation is one possibilty which raises many associated health (physical and mental) issues but punishment without treatment is ineffective and a waste of time.
- I think that alcohol should be monitored much more than drugs like acid and pot. It is much more dangerous.
- certain drugs are needed in life
- A few sentences eh? To do that would be to insult the issue!
- All drugs, including alcohol, should be either illegal or legal. There should be consistancy across the board.
- drugs that's not prescribed by a doctor should never be used. all drugs has a side effect even the ones that we have to take to get over being ill.
- I smoke approximately 1 gram a day of Marijuana. The prices are way to high. By leagalizing the governement can benefit by extra tax dollars, a perfect medicine, strong materials (hemp)
- It's time to stop playing those STUPID commertials on TV and start REALLY talking to REAL kids about REAL problem before it's too late!
- I think it is an experience that everyone tries once in their life whether they admit it or not. I do feel that the drug problem of society is becoming worse and will continue to worsen because of false belief that there is such a problem amongst young children.
- I have several muscle diseases and marijuna helped with the muscle spasms. I think it should be legalized, but regulated as a prescription drug is. I only tried Cocaine once, and it did nothing for me. Until society (teachers, parents etc.) wakes up to their kids problems things will only get worse.
- As someone who did their share of ,looking on how immature it was I now would haved liked parents that were straight. It is a hard way to grow up.
- If its natural, go ahead, kill yourself. If its not, make it illegal
- I would still use marijuana if it were cheaper and legal. I think too much attention is paid to the "drug problem." More *honest* education is the answer; let people think for themselves if they're adults or nearly so. Stress the amount of money some drug
- I only take prescription drugs. I think street drugs are bad, very dangerous and a waste of time and money!
- Drug Dealers need to die or be made that way.
- i feel the drug usage in the US is out of hand, enerbody wants to turn the other way and not recognize that we have a severe problem.
- Ihave had a few of my friends lives totally ruined by drugs. Enforcement is not working we need to take a different approach. We need to have a prent in the 24 7 365 to supervise and teach our childred. That means less divorce and only one parent working.
- arrest em all
- If you can rise above the useage, you can see when (in retrospect) you should have put it down, but that point is usually too late.
- Each person needs to take resposibilities for his/her choices and consequences of said choices, no matter what. Be responsible, don't be dumb. No one is Superman/Superwoman. Don't ever think "it'll never happen to you", because, for all you know, it already has.
- This is a difficult topic, but you shouldn't be stupid, and relize what your getting into.
- I don't really think that marijuana is that big of a deal, of course some professions, such as doctors and bus drivers should only use it when off duty. I don't see where its any more harmful than alcohol.
- I can't stand anyone who lets drugs or alcohol control their life. We've all experimented in our youth, but people who continue to use are losers.
- If parents are open and helpful with their children, then the kids won't think they have to turn to drugs or alcohol for acceptance.
- none\
- Knowledge is the Key!
- Certain drugs should certainly be disallowed. But any drug, alcohol included, should be inbibed in a responsible manner.
- in the words of spacemen3 'I know I've done wrong but I could have done me worse', to consider other options than a war on drugs is to make drug taking safer in terms of users safety and those around them. There would be less violent crime and need for theft.
- I think some drugs should be legal, pot should defintely be leglized
- There should be no government regulation. What we do with our bodies is our own business
- I feel drug and alcohol are personal problems that each individual must deal with, but when you do something while using them that causes harm to others there should be stiff penalties.
- Marijuana should be legal, but other illegal drugs are far more harmful.
- It depends on the drug. I'm on Paxil and some other anit-depressants, and they're great. I'm totally against under age smoking and drinking. Hard drugs should NOT exist, such as heroine, because it can *ruin* people's lives. Also drugs that you can be addicted to after the first use. Good drugs are drugs you can't get addicted to.
- SHROOMS!!!!!!
- Marijuana grows from "oou mother" it's been around longer than any gov't!!!Alchohol should still have the same restrictions.
- All drugs are harmful, should be used judiciously. Need accurate information on drugs. Mass used drugs like ecstacy $ cocaine should be tested for purity of content by state to ensure they contain what they are supposed to contain.
- Marijuana is the only thing I've found that helps when I have a migraine. It doesn't remove the pain, but does dull it enough so that I can function (drive, prepare meals, answer the phone, etc.). While I took a LOT of drugs as a teenager, the only constants in my life now are tobacco and caffeine. Alcohol is an occaisional thing, one or two drinks in social settings for relaxation. Basically, though, I feel that adults should be able to take whatever substances they want as long as it does not int rfere with the safety of others (including their own children).
- I think all drugs should be legalized and regulated in some fashion by the government. The only exception to those drugs that should not be legalized are the psychoactive ones like LSD or Angel Dust.
- Illigal drug use should not be taken lightly, especially teenage smoking.
- It's a very complex problem that I believe does not have a clear solution.
- I think that it is a shame how the dealers make so much money off of selling drugs. This makes this lifestyle more appealing to young adults. I also think that drug abuse has really gotten out of hand in our nation.
- I think that most of the drug laws are useless. Most drug users grow out of their youthful overindulgence and develop a mature usage pattern.
- I think since weed is made by the earth that it should be able to be smoked! it is safer than alcohol!! and alcohol is man made!!!
- i think it should all be made LEGAL MAN!! YAEH! POWER TO THE DRUGS!!!!
- all natural drugs are fine but made chemicals are shitty
- Avoid all
- Life is much better without.
- I am highly against the use of illegal drugs
- We need to be more strict against drug users and dealers. We also need to be stricter to those who drink and drive.
- As long as one is not hindering another ie... driving, watching children, stealing for money; one should have the right to do whatever one likes in his own home.
- They are great for your mind and body.
- Tobacco is the most dangerous drug used in our society based on the damage done to people.
- if drugs are legalized then they can be taxed, more pure and safe, create more jobs. You get the picture.
- Hard drugs should be wiped out
- Drugs are the best thing in the world.
- I think that a feeling of disassociation has more to do with most drug/alcohol problems than anything else. This is a result of a society which never sees who makes their products or who buys what they make. We're out of touch with who we are... other than "consumers." Most drugs can be used reasonably and should be legalized.
- - I think that drugs that are potentially harmful only to the users should be legal. Drugs that potentially have adverse impacts on others (e.g., makes some people violent or reckless) should be legal but regulated.
- Some soft drugs are reactionally okay if used in moderation.
- LEGALIZE POT PLAESE!!!! its good for you,and you and you!!!! Free Pot!!!!
- I think there should be more programs to help people who are addicted.
- This regards mainly point 16 - I think if a person is responsible in the use of D&A and does not abuse them there should be no problems.
- Drugs have to good an image with the media.
- bad news...drug dealers should be locked up...they make it too easy to get drugs.
- Alcohol and Drugs can be fun for socializing, but they can hurt you very bad, not only physically, but psychologically, as they have me
- Drug use cannot be stereotyped, many different people use for different reasons and in various capacities. All drug use is not a "problem", everyones situation is different.
- family members should get their children involved with churches and other things and talk to them about drugs to give them confidence to not resort to drugs.
- In my opinion, weed is less harmful than alcohol on more ways than one. You are less violent on weed and it doesn't kill your liver. You are peaceful when stoned. The only reason it's not leagal is because there is no quick way to determine how much you have consumed like the alcohol breathalyzer.
- DRUGS MAKE ME FEEL GOOD. I GET CRAZY. THAT LEADS TO ME HAVING SEX WITH MY 18 YEAR OLD GIRLFRIEND CONSTANTLY. SHE LOVES IT . ESPECIALLY WHEN I F*** HER. SHE SAYS SHE WANTS ME TO DELIVER DRUGS TO HER BODY, THROUGH HER PUSSY! YUMMY!
- I personally don't use either.
- I've seen the highs and the lows and with the hard drugs the lows are something you'll live with forever, however weed and such should be legal, everyone smokes it and it's a much kinder drug than alcohol..
- People who use "street drugs" are stupid. People who use alcohol (recreationaly) are stupid. Same with tobacco. The Government should stop subsidizing the tobacco industry.
- If you like it, do it. If not Keep your Fuckin Mouth Shut.
- I think what people do in their own homes is their own business, but if they put others in danger they should be severely punished.
- I dont think marijuana is that bad if used occasionally but other harder drugs should be illegal always
- i think marijuana should be legalized..we need all the help we can get to deal with the modern world
- Instead of the usual anti drug opinions, TRUTHFUL information should be available.
- Drugs and alcohol are all just a waste of time, money, and life you should be enjoying the full effects of. In the long run (and generally in the short run) they don't do any good at all. It's all pointless and stupid.
- Legalize all drugs. It would eliminate gang violence.
- If certain (alcohol and marijuna) drugs weren't so restricted teens wouldn't use them as much because they wouldn't be rebelling.
- Drug use should be controled by the user and noone else uless they are underage.
- if one is not dependent it is a good way to enjoy life
- the government's prohabition is the biggest problem
- Pot should be legal, Drug tests for jobs like doctors or someone that could kill you
- hypocracy rules!
- Experimental drugs are ok.. but I'm a nurse and have seen too many people wacked out. I think that all drug problems are due to psychological deficits that could be prevented.
- legalize the weed and all will be good
- most people shouldn't use
- Different people have different reactions. People should be responsible for their own behavior when it does not harm others.
- I think that marajuna should be legalized because it from the earth and liquor is man made! you decide which you would rather have!!
- Drugs and alcohol are fine in moderation, for those people who can handle it
- I beleive that drugs are so available today that our kids and our future are in grave danger , if thay can educate our kids on sex in school they should educate them an drugs and the affects it will have on them and their lives.
- Drug dealers should be put to death. Drug users should be placed in a treatment facility for one year, not 30 days.
- softer drugs - caffeine, nicotine, marijuana, alcohol should stay legal/be legal- others should be cracked down on more
- I think that some people are very capable of handling drugs just fine. some people however are just unfit to use them. i believe that people should be educated at an early age about them but if someone wishes to, they should be allowed to have them. not to excess though. drugs are okay, but there is no need for having mass amounts of them.
- I think alcohol and drugs are TERRIBLE! They should all be banned!
- Creates a multidimensional problem: health issues, economically, productively, within interpersonal relationships, etc.
- Man you sure have alot of surveys!!! Does this even help at all???
- I do not consider drug usage in itself a negative thing. However, when drug use interferes with a person's ability to meet their responsibilities, there is a problem. Some drugs are too addictive to be legalized (like cocaine and heroin). Other drugs (like marijuana and LSD) are safe, in my opinion, for recreational use among psychologically healthy individuals. I favor limited drug legalization and better social programs to help troubled individuals.
- If somebody consentually wants to alter their own life it is not the Gov'ts place to police this. Far too many 'criminals' are being freed to make room in prisons for harmless citizens often looking for medicinal or recreational diversions.
- they kick ass!
- All drugs should be legalized & taxed by the government. The money could be used for treatment of drug abuse & chemical dependency. The war on drugs has not worked & costs taxpayers billions! People are going to try & alter their state of consciousness if it is possible & it should not be illegal to do so. The government, DEA & FDA has no business saying what I can & cannot put in my body. They should however work on cleaning up many of the effects of street drugs & you would have fewer crack babies be ng born & alcoholics with liver disease. There is more harm in smoking tobacco that all the crack on the street. We have enough knowledge of chemistry & human genetics to enhance the mind altering effects of drugs and reduce the harm to our bodies.
- I think the government overreacts and this helps to glamourize an otherwise mundane issue
- Prohibition does more harm than good. And it doesn't work anyway. Criminalising drug users cannot be justified.
- Drugs are stupid and so are the people that use them.
- alcohol and drugs make me feel good so I do them
- They kill more than the people that use them!
- i see no problem with moderate drug use
- it's okay, don't abuse
- I HATE DRUGS, ALCOHOL IS OK ,BUT DRUGS ARE THE SOURCE OF ALL PROBLEMS IN MY LIFE.
- legal for adults
- More HMO's should provide more coverage for therapy.
- If you can handle it than do it, don't take it to the extremes. Some people can some can't, depends upon the individual.
- everyone needs to make up their own mind.
- Pot is good. It doesn't hurt you, it doesn't kill you....it shuold be legalized. IT's just like alcohol -- don't operate heavy machinery under the influence, don't use to much -- they don't make alcohol illegal!
- I experimented when I was younger but never saw the attraction. could always take it or leave it, as I got older I decided to leave it.
- It's a question of ethics and morals... it is not government's job to determine our individual ethics. Government should only be involved where more than the user are at risk, ie DUI
- We need to treat drug addiction as a disease, and drug dealers as criminals.
- In our small rural community, you would think that drugs and alchol abuse would not be a probelm, but it is everywhere. Alchol abuse is especially prevalent in our community among our teenagers. It is almost as if it accepted. In the 1980's my sister became addicted to cocaine, crack and while working for me stole over thirty thousand dollars. I owned an insurance company, not only did I suffer financially, but it ruine by business and personal reputation. I usually consume a couple of drinks ever night with my husband after work. I don't guess I have a physical dependency, but this has became a part of our daily routine. Sometimes, I worry that I may be setting my self up for dependency in the future. Also, my husband who drinks heavier than me, has a history of alcoholism in his family, his father had to be committed several times for alcholism and his sister is an alcholic. My step children also drink heavily. My prayer is that my two children will leave drugs and alchol alone, it inhibits ou from being the wonderful person that god intended for us to be. And I tell them that one alchol or drug related mistake can scar them for life.
- More needs to be done to control drugs
- " I's like's my herbs "
- Penalties should be hard of offenders under the influence but marijuana should be legal for medicinal uses.
- reality may suck, but abusing drugs just makes it suck worse
- that they mess up alot of people
- I love to use all kinds of drugs they are great and very fun in fact i am tripping out at this very instance
- I believe that marijuana should be legalized, and cigarrettes should have stricter laws enforced on them. Marijuana is just as deadly as nicotine/tobacco.
- Everything in moderation
- drugs kill but society componds the problem by making the drug industry.
- I believe alcohol is as bad or worse than Pot.............so what's the big deal...legalize it......
- legalize marijuana today get high tonight
- Only sick people need drugs
- If you do drugs you are one of the stupidest people on earth.
- Noone can tell someone what to do with their own body, much the same as abortion..
- Government should stay out. Employers should choose what they want to do.
- i think drugs are and sad way to get away from life and everything that comes with it, people need to face whatever problems they are faced with.
- Drugs and drug usage are at an all time high in my experience. I see kids drinking, smoking, and experimenting with other drugs at very early ages.
- DRUGS SUCK
- i will continue to do exactly as i please with any drug i want ,people dont realise just how many others take lots of drugs every day. if they were freely available addicts would not steal or bash people for money would they? Currently i am trying to get some cocaine but it is hard to find in australia
- LoVe...
- Drug use in our culture has become a vast problem, but I feel that it has more to do with the hedonistic and fix-me-now attitudes we collectively hold as a society. I feel that as we are allowed to choose to engage in many things that are seen as dangerous, we as members of a free society, have the right to use chemicals to alter our frame of mind. I see the manditory sentences for drug offenses as being reactionary and absurd. The only culture that ever rid itself of elicit drug use has been China, a ter the revolution. They killed all the addicts. Is that what we want? Education and individual responsibility is the only sensible answer. We need to destroy the black market for drugs, and the only way do this is legalization. I am a recovering addict. What got me into treatment was not laws or fear of punishment, but learning there was a better way to live.
- It is not bad as long as you know your consequences. I think only certain drugs should be used such as alcohol and marijuana. I do these ever so often and know how hey affect me.
- I feel that there are many people who use drugs and alcohol that have no clue to its long term effects.
- light drugs are ok in moderation
- ITS DISTRUCTIVE AND EFFECTS EVERYONE AROUND THE USER
- I think that alcohol is much more dangerous than marijuana--and I think if alcohol stays legal then marijuana should be legalized.
- i think it's dumb
- moderation does no harm
- Legalize all drugs. If a person wants to use a drug, that should be their personal decision.
- live and let live unless physical or serious mental injury occurs
- I believe all drugs should be relegalized for Constitutional/QC reasons.
- People such as myself use drugs for good reasons and I should get to use them whenever I want. For examlpe if I need to get my homework done I just do some speed and it's done, it has also helped me to lose weight and keep my room clean, so I think that it is ok cuz I use it in moderation and only for good reasons. Also if i want to just relax and go to sleep I'll go smoke a joint and I'll be fine. Drugs have also helped me to escape from life and just feel good for a moment in time.
- I think these days more and more kids and teens are using and abusing drug and alchol and thats what the system needs to look at, thats what needs help,
- thank god for serenity and the rooms of aa/ca/ma/na
- If somebody wants to mess themselves up, it's their choice
- Drugs and drug usage is on the rise among young people and unless education and penalties become tougher kids are still going to experiment and become addicted to drugs.
- The usage of drugs is up to the individual. People should be educated as to the effects of drugs. The government should have no role in deciding what people's personal choices with regards to drugs. Drugs should be freely available in a safe form.
- no answer
- I believe marijuana should be legal because no one ever smoked a joint, went home and beat up their wife.
- Problem=Propaganda,Prejudice,&Pushers. (P=PPP) If you are using this survey to form an opinion, you should never "do drugs" and should mind your own business. ThanX. I am 15 yr vet-user, use everything, and even daily, baby! I never haved pushed on others but love to explain the TRUTH. I am lucky to have a relatively high IQ, so drugs work for me.. BUT they are definitely not for everyone, believe me! At least I KNOW it's the truth. Pure Propaganda-free Freedom @ no charge, already come and gone. I gu ss most Americans aren't ready yet, as " too much too fast" of anything is usually counter-productive. Listen to your favorite lyrics, they say different things to each of us. Follow your path/don't compare to mine.* Judge not less you be judged yourself. DRUGS are not for the masses but aren't going away either, unless facism is the one following me around at night. *grin* Hey, let's work together folks. I don't try to influence you and your personal choices. By the way, we have permeated all wakes o society, and after what we've been through, you are lucky we are still listening at all. The non-users and users alike have thrown away integrity. tragic stories. Penalty of Freedom shows up in many ways. U.S.A. The more we yell, the more time we waste. Let's do some real good in the world, and respect freedom; we're its only chance to ring. TruPatriot hangin' in there out in California.
- Its Cool, people are so paranoid about drugs and most of the time they have no clue because they are the kind of people that stay inside and have no life at all. I think people should be able to smoke bud inside there house freely. That would take care of teen usage because there parents wouldn't let them smoke inside, if they did more power to them.
- more legislation against dealers
- i like smoking pot and will continue to do so. i think that it shoud be legalized and thegovernment could make some money and the rest of us could be happy, and until it is legal the government shoud leave us the fck alone and let us get high in peace
- Use common sense and enjoy yourself, but don't harm others.
- My thoughts on drugs and drug usage is that it should be illegl to use drugs. This is what it is now but it should be tightly inforced. If these were to become legal(marijuana) people would probably use it more and then they become addicted.
- Ever
- I think legalizing drugs would wipe out costs of narcotic police and do away with drug lords, dealers, etc. Addicts need to be seen as people with a disease and not criminals.
- Illegal drugs should not be used!
- needs to be regulated, not for children
- I feel that marijuana should be legalized. There are too many things it can be used for.
- I think that things are okay the way they are, but drug enforcement sholud be stronger.
- Drugs and alcohol almost ruined my life and the lives of my children. As of Jan 26th, I have been clean and sober. My parents each have 11 years.
- More action needs to be done by the courts. Penalize users, dealers, businesses making and marketing drugs including nicotine to persons who shouldn't be allowed access to it(children/ known addicts, etc).
- I think that the dealers should be the one's caught before they reach our children in our communities and homes.
- There is too much hypocrasy regarding the matter. Drug use should be legalized and controlled, as is alcohol
- It's everybody's own personal business, as long as it does not harm others. Piss off.
- Children need to be taught at an early age that certain drugs are dangerous. It's up to parents to instill this in their children. Their attitudes and actions can go a long towards influencing their children's future behavior.
- I personally think people should have the right to choose if they want to use certain drugs. However, in some cases the use of certain drugs by people could have negative effects on persons other than themselves!
- Some drugs are harmful to you but others have benefits. Alcohol is legal and I think they should legalize marijuana. Each should have their own laws and restrictions. I am against drinking and driving and but .08 is to low it should have stayed at .10. And for marijuana I really can't think of any regulations at this time ritght now but I am sure there should be an age limit.
- Drug use such as smoking marijuana or eating mushrooms could be okay, as long as you are not pre-occupied thinking about or doing them all the time to where it interferes with your daily life.
- some drugs like heroin and crack need to stay illegal. those that are used for medical purposes are and should remain legal. I think there should be tighter drug laws
- They all should be illegal accept marijuana.
- Its n big deal until people let it get out of control
- I feel alcohol should remain legal and marijuana should be legal is certain medical cases.
- Iegal drugs if used should be used in moderation. Laws on illegal drugs should be enforced more than they are.
- drugs are basicly creating a dependence on people in americas sociey
- drugs suck
- I think that children need to be educated as to the dangers of drugs at an early age. Parents play the most crucial role. Their actions and attitudes can go a long way towards influencing their children's future behavior.
- chocolate is my drug of choice! It's hard to be objective when you have seen family & friends lives destroyed by drugs
- I feel that drugs(illegal) ones should stay illegal. I feel that if they were to become legal people will tend to abuse them more such as with alcohol. Yes, people abuse them now when they are illegal but I feel that it would be worse. I also feel that the penalties should be made worse for both the dealer and the user.
- My thoughts are that it is prevalent and young people do not realize the dangers of drugs until it is too late.
- If someone is going to use drugs, they should be responsible.
- I believe that certain drugs need to be legalized for medicinal use butto the person usining it or the people around tham then that drug should be illegal or strictly regulated.Ialso believe that drug usage is going to become worse with legal not illegal drugs in the future . drugs that can cause cahaharm
- PEOPLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO WHAT THEY WANT TO AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT AFFECT OTHERS
- Drugs are in no way "mind expanding." I've used them and still use them on occasion. At least i have the guts to admit that i'm stupid for doing it instead of trying to justify it by saying that it's "mind expanding" or that it heightens my social life or creativity. Users need to be a little more honest with themselves and admit the things that i've admitted.
- There is a definite problem, but education will help i think.
- I think that drug users should be strictly fined for their use. If a strict enough fine is given, then they will be more cautious on doing the drugs.
- I think that drugs and alchol are totally horrible. I would never ruin my life using them.
- drugs effect people in different ways, i've iliminated all that have caused me problems, one drug has actually been the reason for any success that has come to me.
- I think drugs should not be used for enjoyment. They should be used for medical reasons only.
- everyone should know their limit, it's when you don't think that causes the problem
- Build more prisons and give harsher sentences
- drugs kick ass
- I don't like drugs but if people want them and DO NOT HURT OTHERS even by second hand smoke it should be legal. This wouls save money and createn revenue for the government in taxing these items.
- I just kinda think that it's stupid to use unless you are in pain, not just for fun though, that's dumb.
- Well, my major experience was with my best friend who became addicted to everything under the sun and who I have now broken off communication with. All in all not a pleasant experience. (And when I said on my survey that I drank wine, I'm talking about in church)
- If it's natural like pot, shrooms, peyote etc... it should be leagal.
- i think marijunana should be used for medical purposes.
- Alcohol is OK as long as you're not addicted to it. Marijuana should be legalized, even though I don't use it I have still heard from many people that it is harmless. Hard drugs like crack or LSD should have more severe punishments for usage.
- we should revive & expand the "war on drugs"
- I think that anyone caught selling drugs to minors should be locked up immediately, with no parole, for at least five years.
- what,me,think?
- Some drugs are hazardous, but others such as marajuana have the same if not less of an effect on the individual, it therefore makes sense that if alcohol is legal marajuana should be legal too.
- I think it's wrong to discuss the legalisation of drugs. Drugs are harmful, that's enough!
- People should be able to consume what ever is APPROPRIATE for themselves and avoid what may injure others and seek help when nessesary
- I believe that alcohol abuse is much more dangerous to society than the majority of other drug use, but politically, the opposite is portrayed.
- people generally use druge to cope with stress or for personal/spiritual
- I believe that drugs are a bad thing. But some only are if you cannot act responsible. And if you cannot act responsible than you should not be using anyway.
- Everything fine.
- that it all depends on the individual. i think that certain drugs that are currently illegal should be legalized.
- It should be up to the person, not the government.
- sometimes i think it is part of life to try some form atleast once.
- I believe that drugs for medicinal use are okay that are beneficial to the patient, other than that I agree with ocasional use of alcohol, smoking kills and drugs fry your brain, no matter what they wanna say.
- Drugs Rule
- It is up to the person
- Drugs are becoming very dangerous in the younger generations.
- It is entirely too common these days!
- Most drug use should be illegal. The government should spen more money on prevention and treatment centers because if the demand goes down the sulply will decrease.
- I think it depends on the individuals.
- Certain drugs can be very benificial; others, such as alcohol, can be very harmful
- It's difficult to educate people to not use drugs when they are so frequently advertised as desirable. Every other TV commercial is a drug ad; so why is everyone surprised when kids turn to drugs/
- Alcohol and certain other drugs, such as marijuana, should be legal, because their effect is in general only on the person using them.
- Why do they attack tobacco co. when alchohal is killing?
- Drugs depend on the person if it has a good effect on you then thats great but if it don't it's wise to stop.
- I tried drugs in my youth, and wish I hadn't--cause it lowered my inhibitions, and I became pregnant & got STD's.
- I think that drugs such as marijauna should be legalized , it is not any worse than alcohol. Alcohol can turn a person into a raging abuser, Marijauna can turn a person into a relaxed and patient person.
- Stricter government now!
- Drug and alcohol use can not be stopped. The key is to educate about their effects and dangers and concentrate on removing their glamor.
- Drugs[smoking,crack,ect.] are sick!
- drug dealers are dealth with to easily..they should be receiving strictersentences
- Get off the drugs you junkies!
- I think marijuana and mushrooms should be legalized
- Illegal drugs are a major problem in this country. The government needs to spend less money on the drug trafficing and invest more money into education programs that focus on prevention and more money on treatment centers. If the demand for drugs goes down then, i believe that the amount of drugs on the streets and drug use will decrease.
- i believe moderation is the key, i do think that marijuana should be legalized
- Drug users use drugs and alcohol to cope. Its drug addicts which make the rest of us suffer!
- Something must be done to protect our youth. The young ones with no experience are beginning to be a growing group.
- People should be allowed to try whatever they want, as long as they are strong enough to realize when they have had enough and it's just getting in the way. If they aren't strong enough, take it away and don't let them touch it again. But for those who like a certain drug and can keep it under control, let them be.
- NEVER TRY IT
- It all depends on who you ask, what the setting is, your psychological state, and your heredity
- I think marijuana should be legal. It is no more harmful to the body than most of the prescription drugs prescribed by doctors today. It has proven medicinal uses and should not be kept from the people who need it.
- Drugs suck!
- who has the right to tell me what drugs to take
- I think whoever uses drugs can deal with their own problems and side effects of taking it. Its their fault for taking the drug, so they can deal with it. And I have had drug courses for the past 4 years now, and I think all the Teachers saying stuff like "Just say NO to drugs" and that crap is dumb. It like no matter what someone says, its not gonna change your decision to take drugs. I would never, but everyone in my class sleeps through the Life Studies class where we learn about drugs, and its like Hello! We don't care what you say! We hear the same crap every year and we are sick of it!"
- i think my answers to your survey sum up how i feel.
- Moderation is important, but overall they aren't worth it.
- Drugs and alchohol are benefical in order to relieve stress- however having myself gone from a hardcore user to a moderate, I can say that modeation is key, and that daily usage of ANYTHING will RUIN your life.
