The state of our healthcare is appalling. There is no reason that people in a country as strong as ours should go without adequate health care. But no one in Washington has the balls (pardon the expression) to break up the private insurance industry and replace it with a universal single-payer health care system. *sigh*
I would like to see Ralph Nader for president, however I know that won't happen, I just want to see third party candidates begin to take a larger percent of the vote.

Someone a little ways down the list said "Bill Clinton because he is exactly what your country deserves." I find that frightening. Yes, the rest of the world has been looking at Bill Clinton, at apparently they don't think much of him. It's bothersome that the President of this country, the figurehead for our people, the symbol of this country worldwide, is looked upon worldwide as "just what this county deserves." By that argument, I'd like to have elected a President who was more than this countr deserves, someone like Christine Whitman. Of course, she sure isn't going to run next year, and for another thing she couldn't get out of the primary season because of the CC. That's the worst--we can't get a decent Republican candidate becasuse the CC won't let anyone like POwell or Whitman out of the primaries, and with ballot access in this country being in the sordid and despicable state that it's in, we'll never get a reasonable third , dourth, or fifth party out there to put forth a reasonable can idate. While CLinton and the COngress are pretending to reform campaign finance (ain't gonna happen), they should take a look at nationalizing ballot access and doing away with third party discrimination. And ROss Perot should let go of the Reform Party. Sorry to ramble on so.
Clinton- I believe he is sincere in his beliefs, and those beliefs mirror mine more closely than any other candidate. The Republicans by and large serve the elite, the powerful, the economically well connected. They don't need anyone to look out for them, or to champion their rights. They have always done well supporting their own. The Democrats are the parthy of the powerless. Government exists to ensure our rights to fairness, and equality, to level the playing field, and to protect the powerless f om those who would keep them down. The Republicans claim they want to reduce government involvement in our lives, but the legislation they support is a veiled attempt to punish diversity, and dictate, by law, their beliefs.
I would have liked Steve Forbes. He's a new face and not (I don't think, anyway) all caught up in that old political crap the mainstream Repbulicans and Democrats seem to be caught up in.
I would like to see Pat Robertson run for President again. He knows that flat taxes and SDIs won't solve our problem in the long run, faith in God will.
