Would you like to add any comments on the beanie baby phenomenon? What do you like and dislike? Predictions on trends or ideas on products or retirements:
- To all of you who complain about the secondary market, get over it. Its you people who buy the beanies off the secondary market who cause the prices. It supply and demand, basic economics. If you don't like it, don't buy them at the high prices.
- I think that stores should order MUCH more NEW BEANIE BABIES.
- The friends I have made collecting beanies is the best part. I am organizing a beanie swap, sale in my small town of Waynesville, OH and it has been great fun and because of my dedication to my town I received a Princess bear and she is a real treasure to me. I am angry about the 98 releases and the prices. Erin the bear, is selling for $125.00 at a mall in Centerville, OH. Is that what collecting beanies is all about? I also have a friend who sold her collection because she stood in line for 4 ho
rs for a store to open. She was 1st in line and the owner hid the beanies in boxes with other beanies on top. She didn't get it and by the time she did ... the new beanies were all gone. I think fair is fair.
- I think that stores should order MUCH
- :)
- I like the 12 per store releases it keeps me interested, if everyone could get them there would be no excitement about a new release.
- I like beanies and think they're cute but I don't like the fact that you have to have "sources" to find them.
- As long as Ty keeps on retiring some beanies the value of all retireds will stay.
- Internet/Secondary markets will become more commonplace as the authorized dealers put their shipments on sale when they are received. Consequently people who work regular hours have trouble being able to purchase Beanies as new shipments are sold out fairly rapidly. Hence the growth in Internet/Secondary markets.
- I think that the newer ones should be more readily available.
- Dislike mark-up by authorized dealers on beanies that are not retired. ie. princess, peace, valentino and more then likely erin.
- I thought Princess would be available ?????
- I love beanie babies!! I am a new collector and love the bears!! It just makes me sad that the bears that I want are so outrageously priced!! I can not afford $400 for Libearty...mabey someday I will be lucky and come accross one!!
- I love Beanie Babies, my sister and I have all the beanies released in October and I love living in a Beanie Mania kind of world.
- comments ; I DO NOT LIKE RETAILER'S PRACTICE OF RAISING PRICES OF CURRENTS WHICH ARE SUPPOSED TO BE LIST AT $5.
- Stores charing $25.00 for unretired and stores that don't admit children
- I love Beanie Babies! I think the craze may be slowing down, but not by much. The only thing I don't like is how Ty intended for Beanie Babies to be a product children could afford, but I've been in tears over not being able to afford Libearty...and I think that's unfair. I sell some beanies for a small profit, but I am not a price gouger, and I only do it to support my own hobby (as well as to support my new hobbies of collecting other Ty products).
- Princess is way too expensive and should be sold at regular beanie price and retailers should sell the new beanies at regular price also. paying over fourty dollars from a retailer takes the fun out of collecting.
- i love these little things, i like the unique ones with different features like chocolate, fleece, iggy, rainbow, and i have a special place for the bears, they are charming, i love all the happy little faces around me all the time
- I think half of the fun of collecting is the search. I however do not agree with some retailers selling all their stock to secondary retailers. I began collecting for my daughter and I became caught up in it myself. The primary marketing of Beanie Babies is for the children and the true collector. I believe they will continue to increase in price on the secondary market but that retailers should try to sell to the everyday collector and not only be interested in marking up prices. I think most beanie r
tailers are very fair in their practices. I think Maple will soon be retiring with Britannia now on the market.
- Dear Ty: Please don't let Beanie Babies become a mass market item.
- I dislike authorized dealers who notify the public in advance of distribution, which causes long lines to form many hours before the sale. This deletes anyone purchasing beanies for their kids who will not wait for hours. Notify the public and then draw numbers in no specific order so that everyone has a fair chance no matter if you arrived 2 hours or 2 minutes before the lottery begins. Half the fun for my family is going to stores and checking for beanies. Why can't stores just set them out when
hey arrive and let everyone be surprised if they happen upon them.
- I collect Beanie Babies strictly for my own enjoyment. I enjoy looking at them - just wish there was a good way to display them, yet keep them in pristine condition. I dislike the secondary market people who buy up all of the stock from stores as it arrives making it nearly impossible for the everyday collector to find Beanies. If you work full time, like I do, it's almost impossible to be able to be at the stores when shipments come in.
- WHO WOULD HAVE EVER GUESSED!!!!!
- They need to make a llama! and some of them are just too hard to find, I'm about ready to sell my collection rather than deal with the greed anymore

- I hope beanies never go away....continue to make new ones and hopefully there will be a large retirement soon!!!!
- I predict that Crunch, Inch, Lucky, and Echo will retire in the next batch.
- I would love to see a peacock and more colors of bears and rabbits. I dislike the secondary market making tons more than the retailers and taking them out of the price range for kids.
- I predict that Crunch, Inch, Lucky, and Echo will retire in the next batch.
- BEANIE BABIES ARE AWESOME
- I think Beanie Babies are great but secondary market prices are to high.
- would like more updates to Ty's official webpage- some of their areas were last updated last summer 1997
- the unpredictable deliveries of orders to retailers, and all the back orders on beanies like Peace, and other hard to finds
- I am tired of the secondary market's greed spilling over onto the regular retailers.
- High prices for Princess are ridiculous
- Beanie collecting has become very frustrating due to Ty's constant introductions of new beanies that they cannot supply in a timely manner. What marketing genius thought they should introduce Erin when they haven't gotten Princess out in enough supply? Haven't they learned anything from the Cabbage Patch incident? (Original company went bankrupt, sold off the line to a major toy company, shareholders got pennies on the dollar for their investment.)
- My 10 yr. old son & I are having a ball collecting these little creatures. Even my husband, when pressed, will admit he likes them. We like to check out the pricing guides to see what our collection is worth, but we would have a hard time actually selling any of them...unless , of course...
- I hope it lasts, and lasts, and lasts.
- the unpredictable deliveries of orders to retailers, and all the back orders on beanies like Peace, and other hard to finds
- It upsets me when retail sellers are rude and handle beanie babies ruffly. If they don't like beanie collectors, why do they bother selling beanies. It's not like beanies haven't been good for their business!
- You need a new butterfly:Bekky the butterfly, a deer : Dennis the deer, a seahorse: Sara the seahorse. Thank you.
- I'd like to see beanies produced in limited supply, it makes the hunt more fun. I don't participate in the 2ndary market, but am considering posting 'beanies wanted" ads to acquire retireds.
- I have a lot of retireds (such as KIwi, Lefty, Righty, Rex, 19997 Teddy, Snowball, so on) but I think that adults have taken over the Beanie market. I know Princess Di was special, but I don't think it's right to sell her for more than 20 bucks. I don't like all of these overpriced beanies. And the new ones -- 20 bucks for one! I'm just waiting until the new Beanie craze is over and then I can buy them for $5. I think the prices are totally outrageous.
- dont like the way TY has limited the Princess Bear and plans to limit the Erin Bear. The Retailers keep them for themselves (which I cant blames the retailers).
- When the stores do not put the beanies on the shelf and they hold until it retires then sell for a lot of money. Plus, when stores higher prices just for the everyday beanies
- thank you you should do more!
- My pet peave on beanie resellers: I think that there are retailers out there who take the most popluar or rare beanies out of the shipments and never sell them to their regular customers. They sell them for several times their normal price on the internet or at the local Colletor Shows. It is very difficult to come up with the "new" ones or rarer ones like Peace when stores won't even give you a chance. Also, I realize that for some people, the "hunting" is part of the fun of collecting, but when y
u work for a living, it is very difficult to be at stores when the shipment first arrives. I wish there were mail order places that didn't charge a fortune for the beanies. Thank you for listening to my comments. I enjoy your web page very much!
- Green, red , and white tie-dyed bear for Holiday-98
- I think the beanie baby phenom. is good for children to learn about good/bad trades, dealers, shows, trends, and is overall a good teacher to math!
- I think it is bad that Ty is producing limited addition bears, like Princess and Erin that nobody can find!
- Green,Red,& White Bear for Holiday-98
- so hard to get the new ones. i love princess, but what chance do i have of getting her. i loved princess diana and wish i could have her namesake bear. i would never, ever sell it.
- i think they should make a BB of a badger.
- The new Beanies are to hard to find!!!!!
- I like the retail price (5-7) of beanies. I wish I could find some more of the newer ones and the bears though.
- I think Ty should be making more of the popular beanies to fit the consumer need.
- I think they should make a Goat!!!
- i predict gracie and crunch will retire soon because they are "sleepers:
- I'm also interested in Bessie.
- I wish beanies were more readily available as I do not have the time as a MD to go on beanie runs. I also feel the retailers are becoming greedier and unethical and selling beanies on the secondary market. I feel the beanie mania has brought the worst in many people, when it should have been a fun hobby for kids and parents. I feel Ty Warner should re-examine his current marketing philosphy and restore fun and ethics to the beanie business.I hope you will in some shpe or form let Mr. Warner know how w
the customer are feeling. He owes it to us for making him a millionaire.
- I'm glad that TY got the new releases out so quickly, but I am still disappointed that I cannot find Peace at the retail level, nevermind trying to find Princess or Erin....that is impossible. I think it would be nice if TY found a way to distribute the bears that are country designated to be available in the USA, even on a limited basis.
- they should sell the retired ones again
- I hate the retailers selling Beanie Babies overpriced. Ty says that was the point of Beanie Babies, to create a toy that a kid could purchase with their allowance!
- What I dont like are the peolpe , esspecially the older ones , who think they can grab a beanie out of you r hand at the store and not feel one bit guilty , in this way I think the collecters are getting just a little bit rediculous about this whole thing , this has in fact haappened to my son and I while at a retailer.
- i realy like the beanie baby phenomenon. I think it is a good way to get beanie information.
- I wish this had just stayed a toy for youngsters--i'm tired of having to search for a $5 stuffed animal for my children to play with like i'm looking for the Holy Grail. i think the animals are very cute but not worth hundreds of dollars--in five years i wouldn't be surprised if all these collectors are selling their prized collections at a garage sale.
- I love all the friends online I have met in dealing with beanie babies
- I havn't seen it...but heard it was really good!
- dealers should limit amount of bb. those of us that work 8-10 hrs qday find them gonewhen we get there. secondary mkt scoop them up and sell them at higher prices. thanks for the chance to share my opinion
- More available at one time & not put up for higher bids such as drawings or raising the prices so high. More should be sent out at one time for all to purchase. I would also like more info put out the the TY collectibles, I think these critters are cuter Thank you for asking our opinion.
- The Official Club is a great idea and should help to stabilize prices on the secondary market.
- I'm having fun with it but was getting carried away and had to decide what I was doing, collecting or investing? It's hard to see a bag of retireds come into a retailer at $4.99 and walk away from them!
- I'm having fun with it but had to decide what I was doing, collecting or investing? I've decided I can
- don't know what to put here
- I LOVE BEANIE BABIES!!!!!!
- Tired of new ones coming out:Peace, Erin, Princess, etc. and Ty only letting dealers order 12 and half the time they don't even receive the 12. This only adds to the frenzy. If a new one is coming out stores should be able to order and receive plenty. Any ty dealer who sells beanies to secondary should be dropped from ty and also if they hoard beanies and then sell them more expensive once they retire.
- I FEEL THAT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT SELL THERE BEANIE BABIES FO PR PRICES SO HIGH THAT A TEEN AT MY AGE WHO HAS TO PAY FOR HER THINGS CAN NOT PURSHASE THEM!
