I don't like when a store only gets 12 per store (princess)
I VERY much dislike retailers who jack up the prices on the retired beanies after they are retired and a shipment comes in. They are asking $20.00 and up for them take alot of the fun out of finding one only cause you can't affored the inflated price! I have seen dealers come in and buy entire orders and turn anround and sell for twice or more what they payed for only a few hours earlier. Should be one beanie per style so the kids out there can have some. Was in a BEANIE RIOT in which a man hit a oman to get a newly released beanie and it was a dog pile of adults climbing over one and other to get these. The childen were crying and scared as they watched. I gave the ones I had caught flying thru the air to the kids and was rewarded by the store owner with a choice of a beanie she had not put out after the adults left. I gave it away also to a 10 year old girl. It made her day and needless to say I have since see that beanie on store shelves and no one fighting over it!
I dislike it when retailers up the price of a beanie so that people can't even come close to getting it for their collections. Princess for example, the cheapest I saw her for was $100.00. I think that is a little outrageous. Sure I can see $20 and maybe $30 but not $100.

I don't like the limited number of Princess/Erin Ty is sending out. It is fueling the secondary market making it hard to find these at a reasonable price.

I enjoy the secondary market specifically to find the retireds, but I think the retailers should make more, if not all, of their inventory available for retail prices, not secondary prices.

I truly hope that Princess will come out in mass production so that the original purpose of her issuance can be fulfilled -- give the proceeds to charity and keep Diana in our hearts always. I still haven't given up the hope of finding her for $5.00 one day. Thank god for honest Hallmark dealers!!
I love collecting Beanie Babies because they are really cute and just a fun thing. But there are too many people out there making it not fun. People who buy huge amounts of beanies and resale them at a high cost that I can't really even pay. I have a job too, so how is some 8 year old saving their allowance going to buy one when I can't even afford too. Greed is just too much of problem, because you can't ever find any that you want, and when you do they are really expensive and you have to jump throug hoops with the store and buy additional things. Just make it easier for the average person to get them. You please more average folks, you get more business, which is better for Ty, because they have happy customers. You make more people mad, and ticked off they can't ever find beanies, you lose more beanie fans. It's that simple.

I think it is awful the way bears or good finds are only showing up secondary market ..never at beanie prices anymore
I wish Ty would follow some of their shipments to Kansas City and see what happens. No retailer will ever admit to having gotten Princess or Erin; yet the secondary market has them in abundance for $200 - $250. Where are they getting them???? Maybe from these retailers who say they "don't get them". Carol's Cards and Gifts at 95th & Nall rarely has Beanies unless they are retired and she is scalping them - funny thing, her son is at every secondary market show selling all the new ones for $25 and p. Missouri Memories in Seville Square on the Plaza has scalper prices (Peace Bear for $50). Just this week, for the first time, a retailer admitted to getting Princess. Mr. Bulkey candy store at Oak Park Mall had on their recording that they had Princess. When I rushed up there - the price was $99.95. Is this what Ty Warner really intended for Princess?????? The small profits Ty makes may be donated to the Princess Di Memorial Fund, but the HUGE profit Mr. Bulkey makes goes straight to Mr. Bulkey's rofits. Cancel some of these dealers. I would rather they not even have Beanie Babies than try to take advantage of the public. Unless a little child has rich parents, only rich collectors ever get the good Beanie Babies. I paid $149.00 for Princess and then had to find it from out of town. This just isn't right. Please pass my comments along to Ty. I really wish they had someone follow a shipment to Kansas City and observe when it is sold and at what price. Thanks for listening.
Retailers are too different in prices.
Beanies are CUTE, you meet new people who you would never dream would have an interest in stuffed toys! It is a fun diversion from the workplace. I've even gotten my co-workers involved in the "hunt".
Stop retailers from selling to secondary markets.

I think lots of "beanie-adult" collectors are obsessive and insane. Some people really need to get a life away from beanies. Beanies are primarily for kids, and adults are making this a war.
I dislike people trying to get rich from the beanies. Although it is fun to get a beanie that is old or HTF, some of the beanies will always be out of the reach of the common folk and children.
I Don't think they should retire the Dye bear so thoughs who bought the Dye bear feel dumb for spending so much money on a bear that isn't even retired
I love Beanies and can't believe how many people feel the same way.
I think that beanies are toys and should not be sold in sex shops or in shops that contain things that children should not be allowed to see....one store here in town sells beanes along with their idea of art work men doing sexual things to each other as well as pictures of nude aroused men!!!At the very least they should be forced to issue some sort of warning to parents beanie hunting who walk in having no idea what type of "gift" shop it is!!

As a retailer I am often asked what is about Beanies? Personally I don't understand. But I am able to say to those who don't comphrend, "It's all in the eye of the beholder." Perhaps one is not into Beanies, but most have a passion for something, ie., teddy bears, baskets, dolls, standing in long lines for concert tickets, etc. When put in these terms the non-Beanie person begins to understand the passion.

Don't like the prices stores are charging. My daughter used to love to take $6.00 to buy a beanie babie. Now she can't find them when she's out and most stores charge more than $6. Also, have been unable to locate Peace, Princess and Erin. They should plan much further in advance to have these available once the announcement is made of new beanies.
I bought one of the Beanie Babie magazines at a book store. On the back cover there was an add for a store that sels just beanie babies. I called them and asked them how much there currents beanies were and they told me $19.95. Now from what I understand Ty came out with these so they were affordable to children. Well I would say that is all changed. This must be an adult thing. Also I understood that Princess Di was being released and all proceeds go to charity but look how much money people are makin off of these. Doesnt look like the money is going to charties in most cases. I would like to own one but it bothers me to even think about buying one and the money staying in someones pocket instead of where it was ment to go.
I believe that Peace, Strut, Princess, and Mystic are the next batch to go. I also believe that the reason that more retailers shouldn't be let shipped beanies from ty is because that would make them not so rare.
Why is it so difficult to get Princess,BRitannia,Maple & Erin.

I would like to see the prices kept affordable for kids to be involved in collecting. My son is a very enthusiastic collector but I cannot afford to spend $50 or $100 on a beanie baby. I shop the internet and go to retailers like Zany Brainy who do not mark up the prices!!!
I just think it is too bad that the average person can not collect beanies anymore. Items like Princess and Erin and Peace are way too expensive for the average collector, adult or child.
I am a new collector so it's hard to find the new ones and the special ones and the retired ones are very expensive. I think everyone who wants one should be able to get a peace or princess or erin.

I object to retailers abusing their privilege by with-holding their orders and selling in the secondary market based on secondary market speculation that certain editions MAY be rare or change in appearance in the near future.
I hate that retailers can buy these for a few bucks, then turn around and try to make a profit of over 1000%

Likes: when the beanies finally arrive at my favorite purchasing retailer - which seems to be after the 2nd ary, eerie greedy, re-sellers and sports card, etc get them. What gives! Also the Home Shopping networks is a big joke! Actually, I believe Ty and Co are simply laughing all the way to the bank and hopefully this will not be the "pet rock" all over again. Personally, I have begun to like the other plush much better and am getting quite annoyed with the ridiculous prices being asked for on - e Erin, Priness (I took a chance and firmly believe "God's Not Sleeping" and yes, I won by a draw Princess. Will probably have to do the same for Erin. Oh Well! I do believe more and more people will get extremely disgusted and find another trend if the retailers and tons, and tons of beanies showing up in the south and 3-weeks later a few here and a few there. Actually, Ty and Company probably need to get their program more together than it is now. What war stories I hear from retailers from all par s of the eastern seaboard. Incredible! Retirements: I believe the following will be retired within 6-months: Twigs, Spike, Princess, Lucky, Ears, Happy, Patti, Spinner and Weenie.

I hate the inflated prices I am seeing in the retail market, especially from the Ty dealers. I also do not like the idea of Ty making so few of the new beanies, like Erin and Princess, which only makes them more in demand and impossible to get, resulting in the prices becoming inflated by both dealers and secondary market players as well.
I'm a very serious collector: I own the complete Department 56 Houses in: North Pole, Alpine, Merry Makers. Now the Beanies, simply because as I travel each week I can at least look for something besides hotel rooms, airport crowds, etc., to add to my personal collection. They are just simply perfect.

don't let this happen to you! I had no huge problem with the secondary market until my friend got intoit! She was lucky enough to get an Erin today and is willing to sell it to me! We've been friends for 19 years! I introduced her to the collection and have shared everything I could with her! Don't let Beanies jeapordize your friendships. If she doesn't come through she will be treated like any other secondary seller by me and my family! If you recognize this senerio, it's probably not you, but stop nd think now if it sounds familiar. It's sad when a shared hobby comes between a friendship instead of making it better.I' glad I could vent. Happy hunting and sharing.
I think we should keep the prices down, b/c no one will buy very expensive ones , espcially the kids and people starting their collections.

I dislike the fact that they are hard to get for people who work. Most of the places sell the beanies during the day when they first get in and that leaves use working folk out. There should be more places on the net to get them for $5-6.
DEALERS THAT KEEP NEW BEANIES FOR THEMSELVES AND WONT PUT THEM OUT........IF THEY DO THEY PUT RIDUCLOUS PRICES ON THEM.....MANY LITTLE CHILDREN GET FRUSTRATED AND LOOSE INTEREST WHEN THEY LISTEN TO THE ADULTS TALKING ABOUT THE WAY DEALERS SCHEME. THE HALLMARK STORES HAVE BEEN THE FAIREST.

too many of the stores are tired of all the howding that they receive about someone asking for new or retired one. I hate to even go into a store and ask for them becaue of getting a smart answer. I just try to get one of each for may collection but never seem to be in the right store at the right time when the new beanies are put out. some of our retailers will sell their entire new stock to one person and that person will go to the flea market and sell them for 5 times the price. I got into a ver al conversation at the flea market about the selling of Stretch for $25. He bought his for $5 and I told him it is people like you that makes it hard for me to buy just one popular beanie. I was told by one shop to be patient, but she always gets her beanies first and I have to hope she will save me some of the good beanies or hope I get to her shop when they come in.
Ty should update their site on a more timely basis. Delieveries should be more reliable. Retailers that are unethical should be stopped.
I think the secondary market is over pricing beanie babies & will probably lead to a down fall. It is to hard to buy Princess & Erin - Ty should flood the market to keep the prices from going so high.

it seems to me that the retailers are very unhappy with ty, maybe they need to look into their account relations and not be so sure that this phenomenon will go on for ever.
I don't like retailers that sell their Beanies at high prices to make money. I think stores that sell the Princess Bear for more and I have seen some places selling it from $400 to $500 should not be able to be dealers of the Beanies. How can children acquire these toys at those prices?
I collect for my eight year old daughter. She really wants a Princess and would like an erin. I have already told her she will probably not get either. I have purchased chances to purchased princess without luck. Dearers have already told me that they are going to sell Erin on the secondary market , not in their stores where I spend a lot of money. At this point in time I am personally so disgusted with Ty that I am trying to talk my daughter out of collecting beanie babies any longer. The greed hat I have seen is not something that I want my daughter to learn from collecting these toys.

It was just a hobby for my daughters but the secondary market has priced us right out of the market and I am starting to get a bad taste for the whole thing. If I had a child named Erin or one who had a birthday on march 17th what do you think the odds are of getting her that "special one". Ty's marketing people are really smart...but they're forgeting about the children. I'll put $200.00 in her collage account before I give it to a greedy retailer.
I liked it when retailers could only sell beanies for $5.00, no more. I don't mind the limitations when the beanies are new because it gives more people a chance to get them but after they have been out for a while there should be no restrictions. Ty should not make dealers buy 10% of the other Ty products because they get stuck with them. He has way too many back orders and should honor them, not just cancel and restart. I think the next retired beanies will be the bunnies, squeler, gracie, twigs crunch, valentino, snort, and blizzard
Dislike the way TY comes out with only a few beanies at one time making them scarce and expensive right off the bat.
My only complaint is when secondary marketers are selling new (like Erin) before you can even find them at the stores.
I also think that Ears the rabbit will retire soon, as she has been out for a long time. I think that they should make a new camel, or maybe just a new butterfly, but definitely a peacock, that would be wonderful.

I dislike retailers attaching beanies ti their other merchandise and therefore uping the price 5-6 times what the beanies retail for. Also I dislike retailers hiking the price up on newly retired beanies.

I hate retailers who sell "Hard to Finds" for higher prices
I would like to see the retailer easier to deal with. Some are very snotty, some raise the prices on new and/or retireds. Most won't call you or help you get what you would like.
I really think that Maple will retire very soon because he has been out more than 1 yr. & Libearty was only limited to the U.S. & was only out 1 yr. & since Maple is only limited to Canada it just sounds like it should happen.

It would be nice if children could be first to buy. They are after all, children's toys.
you put the beanies out for people to buy, but then you have the retailers who keep all the new ones for them and then sell for outragous prices to the people. that is just horrible now you only release 12 erin so now the retailers are getting them and put out on the shelf for 350.00 and they bought them from you for 2.40 what kind of a rack are you running !!!! some of us people are just trying to get them for their grand children, and then you send out retired ones to retailers and they put the out as retired and sell them for 150.00 for seamore and then 25 - 75.00 for hoot , leggs, etc. my god make enough for the people. and then give us time to get them before you retire them. the retirement at january, for the x-mas ones was a joke.. we never even got any in our town till january and then their retired, and were suppose to pay a arm & leg to get them...... now jurassic park 2 came out why couldn't you come out with more dinasaurs ????? some of us people never saw them before. as for the retail rs you seem to giving them the collection, not the people, at least the average people who can't afford to spend 300.00 to a 1,000.00 for beanies. we will never see the princess, erin, or alot of the retired ones, due to the retailer has just got enough for their family, they will not even put them out on the shelf at the regular price for the people to buy. sometimes you ty people are a real joke. are you making them for the rich only or the retailers only..... or for everyday ordinary people.!!!!!! e would really like to know. thank you. i just read the survey results, and if the survey is for the ty people you better read them..... to know how dicussed people are with ty, and there retailers and do something about it..... my god people across the whole usa are very disturbed with you... read them and try to do something about it...

I enjoy purchasing Beanie Babies for my children. I only have one for myself (Libearty - I purchased for $110 at a charity auction). I have bought Beanie Babies off the secondary market, but no longer. I purchased off the secondary market because my children asked for a specific retired Beanie. I feel Ty should put more restrictions on retailers. I can go to one store and buy Beanies for $5.99 and another store will charge $10.00. Retailers in my area are charging up to $20.00 for the newest rele ses. I hope Ty realizes demand for Princess and the new releases and will manufacture enough Beanies for all who want one. I do not like Ty's practice of redesigning Beanies. It makes it very difficult on parents buying these adorable animals for children. The children want one Beanie of each design. Thank you for letting me run on and I wish to thank Ty for creating the cutest merchandise and introducing children to world of collecting (even thought adults have taken over and made it difficult for ch ldren to find their favorites).

Everyone should try and have fun. This is not rocket science. Buy what you like and if it appreciates in value than you win twice!

In the last month I have spent approx. $3,500.00 0n Beanie Babies. I only pray that the prices continue to improve upwards. Althhough I am initially collecting, I hope to accumulate enough for resale, as an investment. I AN ADDICTED!!!! I evjoy collecting with hopes of a nice return . I'm somewhat bothered by the attitude of a lot of the retailers and collectors I see. The focus is really greed and acquisition, not enjoyment of the toys. TY is playing the market pretty smart. I hope the animals continue to be made, but I'd like to see

This is just something our children enjoy. We started collecting Beanies just for them. Now, it is a family project. I find it frustrating to go to a store where a recent shipment comes in and customers are so rude to each other-pushing and shoving and grabbing. One lady even told me not to bring my 3 year old to such events because she could be injured. The Beanies are for HER not me. Why should I have to leave my child at home to go pick out her favorite? On the positive side, the Beanies have done m re for my children and learning about the animals. We sing "old MacDonald" and both children have learned the sounds and names of animals because of the Beanie Babies.
Ty needs to monitor their dealers more closely and ship more than once a month
I wish TY could control the price that greedy store owners charge. This supply and demand turns people off who just are collect them for fun not profit.
I think that TY is contributing to the un-fairness for children to be able to obtain BB's for themselves at cheap prices... look at the way they have done Princess and Erin, only 12 per store...no kids will have the chanve to buy either one of them for $6.00 tops... which is NOT the way that TY has said he wants this to be...a Children's Toy that ALL children can afford...

I have been very discouraged at the retailers whom have raffled off or set bids on the Princess. I believe this is a statement of greed. It is also very unfair to those who work so hard to collect beanies. I also feel that placing limits on special editions is most needed in order to give fair chances to collectors as well as limit the outstanding number of greedy people trying to make big bucks. I do however, thank those organizations who donate for charities, this is a great way to utilize beanie true value, a gift of love to those in need of both finacial help and the need to share love to the sick or less fortunates. I feel the retailers that sell beanies should not beable to hold beanies for customers that have there name on there list in the store. Some of us buy these for little children and they pick them out. My two small girl's 7 and 2 love going to the hallmark and choosing. There should be some kind of a mystery shopper for the stores that sell your product. Thank you for listing.

There are a lot of children who would like to own beanies but can't because of greedy adults out to make a quick buck. Shame, shame. My children & I love the beanies - no violence ! As a working mom, it's difficult to beat the secondary market to the new beanies. They should go on sale on the weekends to give us all a chance. The secondary market should be stopped !!! Adults are hoarding the beanies for themselves instead of giving them to our children !

I missed Bessie, Tank and Seamore for both my mother and my collections. It is a shame that we will not be purchasing these because of greedy individuals. I have no problem paying someone extra for their time, but get real, to pay someone a high price for buying them up before we could get one (and hold down a job) is wrong.

I think the way distributes the beanies is not very fair. In calling around I find that certain areas are favored. Most would think it would be IL, but that is not the case. We seem to get the least new ones.I like the special ones they are coming out with. It puts a new twist on the whole thing. I hope this continues, but I do not see how prices can go much higher. At some point people will tire of the whole idea. But, I will still think there are cute, but not worth $3000-5000. If someone wants mine or that they can have them all, I could put my kids through college on that.

I think the collecting is fun, but I feel Ty Inc is somewhat hippocritical in their business practices. They say they want the toys to be mainly for children, yet they have released Prioncess and Erin in such a way that they know the market will be extremely volatile. This leads to people selling a brand new toy that should go for 5-6 dollars for 200-500 dollars. the major problem is is that it is mostly retailers who are doing this. They pay 3 dollars and sell a princess for 300. While it is nor\t il egal for themmto do this, it is a problem Ty can easily prevent. Ty is not making any more money by doing this, only the resellers are. The demand for the product is already there and a demand for it does not need to be artificially created. If TY allowed each retailer to order 100 Princesses from the start, I am rather sure that all would still sell out quickly. Just look at how all the Jan. 1998 new Beanies have flown off the shelves. I think Ty should be more active in removing retilers who are a party o price gouging and also stop creating the situations to do it.
I really, really hate store who are asking crazy amounts of $$$. Also this whole thing is out of hand when people like myself who just want to have one of each kind and perhaps 2 of my favorites can't get one because gready people are buying up the stock and re-selling!! I can't even find a Maple here in Canada for the normal 8.98/9.95 price. No princess, etc. etc. I had to visit stores almost every night to finally find Curley (my favorite).

I think the secondary market dealers hurt the ordinary people who just want to collect them. Here in Michigan if you are not at the store when the new ones arrive you are to late. I always seem to be a day late or even just hours. I live in the country and even to call a store is long distance for me. I wish there was an easier way for the every day collectors to get them.
I feel that the limiting of such Beanies as Princess, and Erin, it causing some Beanie collectors to give up and sell their collections. They (I agree), that prices on the secondary market on these limited Beanies makes it also impossible for children to be able to add to their collection. Paying large sums of money for older retirees is okay, but not for just released Beanies, that the secondary market people grab up (or have the TY dealer sell them the BAGS FULL "out the back door".) This is not a "fair" business practice. Even if I did (which I DON'T), sell on the secondary market, let these people get out and have to search for Beanies just like the "Beanie Collectors" do. One of your questions in your survey was about complaining to Ty Warner about unethical dealers, I would love to have a way to let him know how disappointed I am in several of his "Ty Dealers" around my area that do no unethical dealing, (in my opion of course).
Idon't like retailers putting times on when they will distribute the Beanies, when the store opens and they have some they should put them out, not wait till 4:00pm so then it's first come first serve and no long lines.

I don't mind paying seconday market prices if I know that the people stood in line just like me. I am upset, however, at those "vendors" who have the inside track andbuy BB's out the back door or have people "scam" for them when they are in line. They ALWAYS seem to know when the next beanie shipment will hit. I have been told that the store managers call them first to let them know. Also , TY needs to disqualify those retailers who raise the prices on their beanies to such inflated prices. This i one of the reasons that I have had to buy and sell my self on the secondary market. I have had to buy 12 of one item to trade it for peace, etc.
I realize that limiting the supply increases the demand for these addictive little creatures...BUT...Ty should not make currents so difficult to get. My 3 year old daughter keeps asking for Princess and I seriously doubt I will ever be able to get one.. I refuse to pay more than $20-30 for any beanie.
We have a problem in our area (Anderson, SC) with authorized dealers who we either suspect or have actually caught holding beanie babies. At the Beary Patch in Anderson, a woman refused to sell Curly at $6 even though he was in with all the other beanies to be sold for $6. It is also next to impossible to find new beanies at any hallmark shops/other auth. sellers, so we suspect they are also holding these out to sell to the secondary market.

I think that TY should allow retailers to order enough to cover the demand. Its awful to tell my child that I had to purchase the BB for him, because there are so many people out there who "HORD" them. My child asks if he can go but a BB today and I have to tell them there are not enough to go around. What is this world coming to when we can't let out children purchase a small priced stuffed animal.
I don't like it when retailers sell it for higher than the suggested price. I also don't like it when Americans come up here to Canada and buy all the Maple Bears at top dollar. It makes it difficult for those who are collecting for fun. I think more bears should be made available. Why put limits on how many bears? The more there are, the cheaper they will be and nobody has to pay an arm and a leg to greedy retailers to do what they enjoy doing.
There should be a set price for retailers and not allow them to go over that price. Also there have been retailers who give them to their children to sell them at the local flee markets for crazy prices...this should not be allowed!
Absolutely disgusted with the stores who have hopped on the secondary market bandwagon and sell the HTF beanies and others like Princess and Erin for ridiculous prices. Don't mind that some are HTF - makes the acquisition worthwhile, but hte stroes are very unfair and those that sell like that lose my business. Also looking to get out and collect only the bears (which are the cutest) for myself and my child and also those that have our birthdays. Otherwise it's too hard. Secondary market is good, bu some of these people charge outrageous prices. Of course I exercise my right and don't pay, hoping the small stores will get them in at reasonable prices. I wouldn't mind if the bears were more readily available, but Ty has made them all HTF on purpose. I'm sure that shall always be the case. Would like it if other bigger stores got beanies so I can get to them. Working full time and trying to track down beanies on the weekend ain't know fun.
It is/was alot of fun. We have a hard time finding newer beanies and it becomes very frustrating. I would like to own new ones and would buy them online if the price was right. $100's of dollars is way to much. A trade is the best.

I feel beanies should be available to children. It is a shame the way the secondary market dealers storm the stores and buy out any new or hard to find beanie. The retail store should not sell direct to these "black" marketers. Children should be able to find, purchase and enjoy beanies.

I enjoy hunting for beanies at retailers who sell for fair prices. I disagree with the way Ty is distributing the Princess Bear and Erin. I have accepted the fact that I will never own these two because I refuse to pay a fortune for them. If the purpose for princess was to raise money for Princess Diana's charity, why hold them back. Sell millions and donate some real money.
We LOVE Beanies!!! Why is it so hard to get the new releases, though? We are also very bummed about Erin coming out so much like Princess; it's next to impossible for simple collectors like us to get one.
Ty is now overproducing currents (not new releases) which will decrease future value. TY also needs to be quicker about getting new releases to retailers-it takes too long now and the secondary market prices are ridiculous.
I really wish TY would purge their retailer and drop the ones that sell well above retail. They are the only ones that get beanies for $2.50 each. If they want to sell secondary they should not do it in thier stores they should have to go to the flee market with the other flees.

It is so difficult to find popular current beanies (like Peace) in small gift shops. Couldn't Ty, Inc. send some large shipments of some of these popular ones? By the time I hear a store has them, I get in the car and drive over there, it's always gone! I REFUSE to pay 6 or 7 times the retail price to a secondary retailer!

The secondary market is good because you can get retired beanies for your collection, but some of it getting out of hand, some prices are going up too fast, i hope it doesn't cause a crash. Collecting is an activite that the whole family can participate in. We use Beanies as an insentitive for execellence in scholl for our first and third grader. Lets keep the Beanie Baby phenomenon going.

I think that the secondary market does not know what too high is. my children see them on the street and ask if they can have one but, I can't because they want 20.00 for an animal that you know they only paid 5.00 or so dollars for. i think this is for kids and that it should stay for kids. I look for beanies for my children.I was charged excessive prices for a peace bear in Canada not realizing I could get one in the US for Less. It makes me sick to see the prices people charge for beanies and I would like to know how they are getting them. I was fortunate that my sister living in Toronto was able to get beanies for me.(she obtained Maple for $9)I no longer buy from the secondary market at inflated prices and only sold a few beanies to get my money back. I am no longer interested in play ng this game so will not continue to collect them for my kids.

The special Beanies are way too hard to find! And you can forget finding any new Beanies, especially if you work outside of the home. By the time a person gets to the store that has them, they are all gone.
I think that TY should make all the retailers sell there beanie babies on Saturday morn. at 10:00 so that the little kids can get the thrill of beanie babies instead of these hungry animals that turn around and sell them to the little kids for a BIG price. The market would be really stirred up if Ty would retire more of the beanies. There are too many currents at one time right now. Retiring more would raise the value of more and entice more people to buy before the prices rise any higher on the retired ones. I think that the TY shipping 12 BB out at a time is ridiculous. I also hopes he realizes that Diana is turning over in her grave because of the secondary market and dealers being GREEDY. He has allowed them to profit at HER expence.
Lots of primary marketers(Hallmark stores + others) hold back "prize beanies" and do not offer them for sale at the official list price. There are tons of unfair practices even among the official Ty-affiliates.
I am always amazed that the secondary markets always seem to have a steady supply of Beanies, when the authorized dealers have almost nothing.
I love the beanies because they are so incredibly adorable and they don't cost a lot of money. I cherish my collection very much and I am very excited about continuing my collection in the future.

I like the quality of the toys. I dislike the hypocracy of "they are just for children" juxtaposed to artificial scarcities designed to strengthen the market share. The bottom line IS the bottom line - an ugly reality, but there it is. I understand that Ty doesn't particularly care for the secondary market, but frankly that is what is continuing to drive the interest in the company's primary sales.
Wish I could run across a PRINCESS or ERIN at regular price! Wish retailers in ther area were nicer about "regulars" who come in to find new beanies - and more informative about when they might have them (instead of "put out" or "tired" of us beanie collectors (sometimes even "disgusted"!). Some of the places I go in I never regularly went to before, and often buy things while I am there (cards, etc.). I think ty should not limit their sales on the new babies to their dealers. 12 is not being fair to the public or the dealers due to the high volume of telephone calls they get from customers wanting to but from them and they do not have enought to go around.

Beanie Babies should be a toy for children, the current market has made it very difficult for children obtain them do to the sales to secondary market sales by retailers. when a shipment comes in with any desirable beanies the owners sell the in the secondary market or on the internet without making them available in the stores. This makes it very difficult for parents who just want to buy the toys for a child.

I am frustrated that it is nearly impossible to buy a Princess or Erin. I am also interested in a Britannia the bear but figure he will be impossible to get. In my area the retailers are beginning to 'mark up' the prices of the bb's, which is upsetting to me since originally this was supposed to be a toy for children. I have been purchasing the darling little creatures for my grandchildren, however, if the prices continue to increase I will discontinue buying. I also feel that Ty controls the market e.g. At times, certain bb's are very difficult to find which tends to cause people to buy from the secondary market and then all of a sudden this particular b anie can be found everywhere. I think that is unfair. In my area, right now, you can find almost any beanie you want and they are lying around on store shelves everywhere, except, of course , for Princess and Erin.

things are pretty good...what i don't like is when you call a retailer and HE or SHE tells you "yes we will sell them 10:00am the day after tomorrow,liment 1 each of the new ones,but when you stand in line for 2 hrs,to be told you can only have 2 of the new ones"...that is pretty bad and frustrating.i will not say the retailer unless you ask me to....that is the worst one,there are 2 or 3 more,if you are intrested.and you probley are or you would not ask....so we will see.

I would like to be able to count on being able to get the new releases without a problem!!! I was disappointed in the way the Princess Diana Bear was handled. Everyone should be able to purchase beanies at a reasonable price.

it is my opinion retailers that receive retired or new beanies and sell them at secondary prices (and more) or sell directly to the secondary market should have their distibutorship pulled. This practice takes the collecting aspect completely out of reach of children!
I have really enjoyed searching for the BB. but become angered when the retailers are now selling (like the secondary market) for the hard to get BB. Peace and Erin are being sold for $15. I don't think that is right to the consumwer.The Princess bear was taken to a fleabmarket and sold for $150!!!!!My sons would go to the store everyday after school to ask if she came in yet----only to be told in Jan. what she did with them.Also, the stores place them in raffles, Iguess if Ty would make them more avai able it wouldn't be sooooo frustrating. limits by retailers to consumers on how many of each beanie they may purchase per day. I really hate seeing one person bying 15 of each kind. It keeps us basic buyers from being able to collect one full set without haveing to go to the secondary market. I really enjoy collecting these for my children as a collection to keep, not to sell for profit.

There is a store here that goes down the street and buys them for $5 and walks next door and resells them for $20. They should also make a woodpecker named Sawdust.

I wish the bears weren't limited to their respective countries or to a certain number of bears to a retailer. I'd like to have Erin, Princess, Brittania (I have Maple, but paid an outrageous price for it) without having to search the world over and try and find the money to buy them. I recently lost my job of 13 years and am now working permanent part-time for an hourly wage that is 1/2 of my former hourly wage. Unfortunately I don't have half the bills to match! I love my bears, kitties, fish and ogs. I especially love the tye-died beanies! Keep them coming. How about a bear with the flag of each State in the U.S.??? Oklahoma's bear could be named Will after Oklahoma's favorite son, Will Rogers (also known as the Cherokee Kid!)!!!

I believe the line between primary and secondary markets is becomming blurred by the practice of jacking up prices in the authorized outlets. A primary market vendor shoud NOT be selling Princess bears for $200 or more when they pay only $2.50 for them. Scarcity of limited edition beanies will ultimately drive the original MARKET for beanies out of the arena altogether. When ya can't afford that wonderful new beanie on your allowance...soon you lose interest and start collecting something elese (Puf kins??) The engine that drove this wonderful mania was CHILDREN...greed will drive them out. You sort of expect greed from those secondary market folks (where do the GET 100 Princess bears to sell for goodness sakes) ... but one does not expect the unfettered greed of the local Hallmark store owner who has a special little shelf where he displays his "special" beanies for sale...ranging from 2 to 3 hundred dollars. Ty could end this whole disturbing trend by simply halting this "special edition beanie" rend...but it appears to be increasing, not the opposite.

I think that Ty makes the cutest beanies (i.e. Princess, Erin, etc.) and then makes it virtually impossible to get them!! I do think the 2nd market for beanies is a good way to keep the value of the beanies rising, but i don't think dealers should be hording new beanies (ie erin, princess, the new set) and selling them for rediculous prices when the beanies themself are current. This is a very greedy act and does not allow adults and children to buy the beanies they really like.
I don't like retailers charging $400 for Erin! I wish Ty would ship more of the popular styles because it is very hard to tell a 6year old that the store is charging hundreds of dollars for the one she wants, or waiting in line for hours only for the beanie she wants to be gone when you get up to the front because of greedy dealers in the front of the line!! Although my daughter loves to play with her beanies, it is way too stressful for mom!

It's amazing to me how many new people seem to be entering into this phenomenon and I don't seem to go anywhere where I haven't heard a conversation about beanies lately. I like the "hunt" for the beanies, but I don't like when retailers lie to customers about shipments and availability of the beanies.

dealers know how popular beanies are and take advantage of customers that are genuine collectors. I don't agree with some of their practices, but I also don't agree with people buying them to resell much higher. Don't let the dealers full you they are out for a profit too.
I dont like that ty only sends so many of the beanies each to each retailer because some retailers hold like princess out for all their employees and the public dont have a chance to even purchase them and its not fair that some stores have recieved their princess bears and other stores havent even recieved there first 12 yet or there january order and i like that ty keeps coming out with new beanies for me to buy

I dislike the secondary market pricing and the hard to find (i.e. peace bear) pricing that authorized Ty distributiors charge. Hallmark stores and specialty toy stores should not charge more than the suggested retail price for certain beanies and sell the rest for $5.99. Not fair. Don't even get me started on Princess Bear. I will not pay the inflated prices. Love the idea of a collectors club. I can't wait for McDonalds beanies to come out. We have our children ready to go and saving for their Happ Meals.

I don't like the rate at which secondary market dealers push up prices on retired and htf beanies. As a collector and secondary market dealer, I try to keep my prices as reasonable as possible (e.g. $10-$20 on recently retirereds) because I want my customers to feel good about their purchases and not ripped off. Also, I believe that prices that rise too fast could ultimately lead to the collapse of the market and even of the hobby.

I think secondary prices should be banned and are terrible and that the TY company should put a stop to it.
Too hard to find what you want. Stores claim they don't know what they are getting when and many will not tell you over the telephone. Even if they tell you over the phone by the time you get there they are gone. One plaaace didn't limit peace when he came in and men were standing in line with multiple Valentinos.

Princess Diana was "The People's Princess". Therefore, I believe the beanie baby "Princess" should be available to the people, everyone. Everyone sells Princess so expensive. I think everyone should be able to own a little bit of the legacy of the great life Princess Di led. They should be able to be purchased at reasonable prices ($5-10) so that the meaning of "The People's Princess" can really be applied to Ty's, who should produce more of these purple bears, most special beanie baby ever: Princess.

I think that the beanie baby craze is great. It has given me something to share with my 9 year old daughter that I would not have been able to do. I helped my son collect baseball cards when he was younger. I think that the trend will be that the hobby will continue to grow. However, many collectors are having a hard time finding the newest releases although the secondary market seems to have all they need. Somehow, I guess these dealers have inside information on who gets them and then buys the e tire stock. My favorite stores are those which limit the number that the customer can buy. I would like to see babies like Derby and Mystic retired rather than just issuing new versions.
I wish that beanies were readily available to all people. I find it difficult to work 40 hours, call around to stores for avaiblity only to arrive just minutes too late to get what I came for. Many retailers in my area are making you spend $50 on store merchandise just to buy a chance to win Princess. This money is not going to charity. It's going in retailers pockets. Ty's latest habit of limited releasing (Princess & Erin) that causes the secondary market to inflate the prices. This really unfair to the young people with a limited allowance.
I think that the secondary market is ripping the public off. I only (now) buy through an authorized dealer who does everything by the book and fairly to the public. They sell at 5.99 and don't rip off the clientele that comes to their store. I have also bought at the mall when they have vendor tables and paid way too much money. Only to find out if you wait for your local authorized dealer the stock eventually gets replensihed. The only thing that gets the demand and craze I believe is the eventua ly retirements. That's when you feel you need to collect as many as possible as quickly as possible. I've spent alot of money - the question is : is the market demand going to stay strong, will I be able to resell my collection which has many retireds and make my money back or more. My husband would die if he knew how much I've spent......I still do buy beanies....but from my local authorized dealer.
I collect beanies for my kids. We have as close to a complete set as possible and have divided the set between the two of them. I am saddened to see people making so much money of Princess. I do think that the secondary market does sometimes get out of hand.

There was a place on the tv shopping that had it 2 weeks ago and the store near me did not get it yet.

I do this for my two girls - its fun, so far still reasonalbe - where I live they go at the stores for 4.99 - 7.00. Even though some of the prices have gotten ridiculous, like the unbelievable prices on Erin, which is not a retired, nor particularly "special" bear, it still is great fun to do. Besides, my grandchildren think my house is the greatest house in the world to come to, what with Beanie Babies strewn from end to end!

Stores should allow purchase of @least one of each new style released. When 10 new beanies and out and a store limits me to 6, it only creates more or a craze among collectors! If I happen to be at a store at the right time why shouldn't I be able to get at least one of each new baby!

I don't like that out the twelve Special Princess Bears, at any of the reatilers I've been to, have gone home with them and onto the secondary market, or to their employees. Ty should either make more available or don't make them at all.
It is amazing the popularity of it all. The retailers selling at secondary market prices really gripes me. I hope Ty really cracks down on them. They have an unlimited supply at $2.50 each and some even go on the Internet or raise their prices in the store. They also will raise prices not only on retired ones but ones they think should cost more, ie. Valentino, Curly, etc. Also, trying to own Princess and Erin seem like it will be so hard without paying exhorbitant money, that is very frustrating. Beanies Rule!!! Beanie Power!!!
Hate how TY limits Princess and Erin to 12 per store...they should be ashamed of themselves...they should stop making all other types and for a month concentrate on making Princess, Erin and Peace bears to satisfy the market....the price gouging dealers are doing is disgraceful....prices gougers should lose their TY account (those taking bids too)....but TY is ultimately responsible because they do not make enough and have created an artificial market --- whatever happened to making the beanies for kid at an affordable price......Ty Warner...shame on you, you have forgotten the children in my humble opinion. I would also like to see a Peace Bear Pillow Pal (love the tie-dye material in bright colors), but only if they make enough stock to go around....this limiting to 12 per store per month is making me wonder about whether I should still keep collecting TY products and it certainly has made me VERY aware of what stores are price gougers and I tell others not to shop at those stores that do gouge (gougi g over 20.00 from original cost).
I don't like getting the runaround from stores. I don't like it when a $5.00 item is skyrocketed up to $300
I think that the prices for Princess and possibly Erin are way too inflated. They should be lowered. Not every beanie collector has $200 to pay for a current Beanie!

I would stop colecting, if Ty sells to a large Company (ex. Disney) or makes a cartoon, movie etc. about beanies
I love the Beanie Phenomenon!! It gives me something to blow my money on. I hope they retire more soon. I have a sneaking feeling Bones will retire, and probably Patti, Pinchers, Chocolate, and hopefully Inky!! I love Inky!!
I dislike authorized dealers who charge too much for their beanies or hold back retired ones and charge more for them.

I wish the Ty internet site was more informative, and kept up to date instead we have to rely on other sites that you are not sure if they have correct information. I totally enjoy and rely on the Beaniemom site and would still check it daily but would like more first hand info from Ty. I consider it an unncessary site at the monent. It is a good starting place for a new collector but not very helpful to me now. This is the only improvment I would ask of Ty.
It's amazing to see the value or the Beanies increase so much in the past year!
I really abhore authorized dealers "raping" the "special" issues and selling them on the internet One in our area took all of their Princess bears (24) and sold them for very high prices --- when this happens no one has a fair chance to obtain them.

The princess/erin craze is out of control!! retailers are auctioning them, which I think is unfair. It should be first come first serve on the retail market, the same as any other collectable. Ty should pull the retailers' ability to sell if they are auctioning the beanies for more than the suggested retail price.
People how buy beanies to resale them know were to go to get the new ones and buy all of them.

I dislike vendors selling to the secondary market. It makes it tough for the people who just want to purchase the beanie babies for children. It is also difficult for people who want to buy just one of each beanie, not for resale.
This could go on 4-ever.. Hate having to pay inflated prices for specialty bear like princess & Erin.
I Hate greed!!!!!!! Paying more than $5.00 to $7.00 for a bean bag is nuts!!! My son is crushed over this!!!!
I really wish that TY would be more open and honest. It seems as if even the telephone customer service people are either unaware of their own products or are outright lying.
I hate the fact that most retailers put such tight restrictions on how many beanies a customer can buy. A lot of places I buy beanies will only let you buy 5 per day. One store even requires a $20.00 purchase for every beanie you get. This is ridiculous.
I hate hoarders who buy up a bunch of beanies and try and sell them for a lot of money.
I'm moving out of country-contacted Ty to purchase direct from them as mail order. There are no dealers in Korea. I was informed I would have to deal with a authorized dealer. Normally authorized dealers will not deal with you mail order. I will be force to deal with secondary market. I really don't want to.
Dislikes: secondary market. people are ruthless, they will say anything to make a buck.
I work in a store that sells beanies so I am fortunate enough to be able to find most of them reasonably. I enjoy going to shows to try and acquire the older beanies that I do not have. I wish some of the secondary market prices wouldnt be so outrageous and more attainable to everyone.
I hope that something will be done about authorized Ty dealers who are selling their Beanies for high prices. When they do this, they are not considering the children that this toy was intended for. I believe that Ty needs to crack down on these people. Some businesses in my city are even making you spend $20.00 before you can purchase one Beanie. That is just plain wrong. I hope they get their Ty account taken away.
I would like to see more dealers helping the handicaped by making it possible for them to compete with the moms and dealers in the long lines. I also hope that all the ty shops give back to their communities whenever they are able, to help those that need it.
I wish we were able to purchase the Princess Bear without having to pay hundreds of dollars for it. I hope in the future this bear will be on the market so everyone can have one. I understand how collectors want to make money off these beanies but I don't like that the collectors hoard the hard to find beanies buy them all off the shelf as soon as they come in the store and then they re-sell them for much higher prices. But if it weren't for the collectors the beanies wouldn't increase in value so guess you have to take the good with the bad.
I am only 10 years old and I think the secondary market on currents stinks. I want to have a chance to get Princess, Maple, Britania, and Erin, with the ty dealers selling them for $200+ there is no way I can get them for my collection.
I don't like that retailers mark up newly retireds and hard to find currents. It takes the fun out of hunting.
I collect these for my son because he loves them and I also collect them to donate to childrens hospitals but these thing have gotten out of hand. Retailer are selling big quantities of Princess and Erin bears on the internet for upwards of $300 and more. I think Ty needs to gain some control of prices or this crace will soon fizzle out!
I buy for my 2 kids mainly, use them as rewards for Great behavior. We just won a Princess Bear in a raffle(I had the option of purchasing her for $20.00) I can not pry her out of my 6 yr. old daughters hands. i finally feel that all that Beanie hunting paid off for us!!
I sell extra retireds to provide money to spend on new releases and retireds we don't have but I would prefer to trade. My son loves his beanies and insists that we buy one for his 2 year old cousin when we find them. I have to admit I have bought extras of the tye dyed ones to keep just because they are unique. My husband thinks I'm need help with this addiction.
I don,t like seeing new beanies like Erin and Princess at secondary market before any collector I know have not been able to obtain at a reasonable suggested retial price. How are these secondary market dealers getting these beanies.
My one complaint I have is when I go into a store and you have to purchase $20 or $25 worth of their merchandise in order to purchase 1 beanie. I think this is very unfair and I am a homemaker with 2 kids who love beanies, but I can't afford to make those purchases in order to get 1 beanie for them. I can think of 3 stores off the top of my head that have done this. Thank You!!
I think dealers who want you to buy 3 regular beanies in order to get 1 new beanie should be taken off the list of Ty deliveries.
Want to get Erin & Princess - not on acquisition list as a choice. Very much dislike stores who sell Princess "out the back door" and never offer to customers. DRawings are fair.
It often appears that TY has turned away from the 'Little People' in support of the secondary market. New beanies are rarely available due to the fach that authorized dealers immediately sell, for an inflated profit, upon arrival. Virtually all beanie baby collectors are NOT rich folk and, thus, cannot afford to enjoy collecting them. I just read about the new Ty BB Club Kits. My first thought was ' Yea, right, nobody will be able to find them at regular price, muchless, even find on, Period.' Ty hould want my first thought to be, 'Cool, I can't wait.' Does he really care? I hope he can read consumers lips...'They're Just Socks With Beans in 'em!' I'm losing interest FAST...

the stores letting their employees buy them first. it should be like the contests where if you are an employee involved with that certain product you are not eligible. I was in Ft. Myers ,Fl. last fall and the stores didn't have any, but the worker gave me her home phone # and told me what hours to call her. She had all I wanted. I tore the paper up right there ion front of her and told her NO THANKS!!

I do not like the way the secondary market works, it is an invitation for dishonest, greedy people to exploit someting that should be a nice, inexpensive childrens collectible. I don't like the way TY seems to feed on this kind of speculation by always keeping supplies lower than demand.
This collection has given me a link to the children in my life. I love watching them play with them . They seem to know to be careful and respect their value. It has also connected me to friends in England. They are a wonderful link .

I am very upset with the retailers who get the beanies from TY that sell the retired ones at book value. I thought that Ty had an agreement with them that they were not allowed to do this.

I love Beanie Babies, but I think that they should be available to everyone at reasonable prices. Afterall, that was the original intention of TY.

I dislike that it is so hard to find these for the kids to enjoy without people from the secondary market snapping them up in multiples to re-sell at inflated prices. Several that my daughter has looked for have had to be bought second-hand, because they are sold out at stores!
I wish they'd get their act together and mass produce or make they true collectibles with some provision for beanies to hav a "first run" tag or something, then mass produce the rest so we can get them for our children
I just think it's a shame that an affordable toy could become one filled with greed on the part of the owners of it. They're cute and fun to play with. I think they should be kept that way, but they are already worth a lot of money, so hands are tied.
i am an authorized dealer & i think that selling to secondaries is wrong however it is sometimes very difficult to determine who are secondaries. i have recently learned that a couple of our regular customers are secondaries & these are people who never ask to buy an extra if there is a limit & don't buy over 1 or 2 beanies when there is not a limit. retailers selling large quantities to secondaries are the ones i think should be dropped. it is very frustrating as a retailer when the secondaries have the new beanies before us as a whole beanies have been a lot of fun & we have met some great people. i hope beanie continue for a long time to come.
I love collecting beanies but I dislike retailers who are inflating prices and selling to the secondary market. It takes away from the original idea that Ty warner had for this being an affordable hobby for children. I predict more storgae ideas from other companies and I predict Ty will produce more special occasion beanies.
I hope it continues because I enjoy it. The investment is minimal but when it "dies" I will have lots of gifts for my nieces and nephew!

internet people sell for way too high
I find it incredible that so many of us find ourselves in the pursiut of beanies! I never understood the beanie fever until I found myself staring at a rack of holiday release beanies, the store had just opened , my daughter wanted beanies for her birthday, and there they were. I just stood there admiring them, the clerks said, "You must be new at this, You'd better pick out what you want before THEY show up..." Five minutes later the store was jammed pack, I never saw that before, but I had my beanie ! I got bitten by the beanie bug! I really dislike pushy people buying for the secondary market, store owners who won't sell beanies to children, and store owners who considerably mark up Peace and Princess as if they had to pay some sort of royalty or something.
i love beanie babies as do my children, but i fell the secondary market is way too greedy. i purchase beanie babies on the secondary market only if i feel that it is a reasonable price, usually only for the beanies i cannot find at official ty beanie distributors.
How long will this last? What is going to happen in 10 years?

I don't like adults stealing the Beanies away from the kids. Someone with kids or someone who really likes Beanies can collect them, but don't buy Beanies with the set idea of selling them for outrageous prices later. Beanies are to enjoy, not to make you greedy!

I don't like how much the retired beanie babies cost to purchase. I want Trap the Mouse really badly and I can't get it because for one, I am just a kid, and second, I do not have 900 dollars just to get a mouse beanie baby!!!

I think that people should get BB for playing with etc. They are just a differant type of stuffed animal and only to those by whom they are loved have they realy any value at all. - RAJ
