- I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO SEE THEM MORE OFTEN AT MORE PLACES
- It's not easy keeping comments short. Will start by saying I have never collected or liked dolls or plush toys of any sort. Beanies are my first because they were cute and affordable and kind of fun to look for. Before they came along I enjoyed auctions, estate sales, and collecting various items from old magazines to David Winter cottages. Due to the craziness that went on and the unreal prices being asked for these toys I am again enjoying the leisure pursuit of small treasures in antique shops.
It's a shame that Mr. Warner manipulated the market and retailers and secondary market people gave the Beanies a not so good reputation. My main gripe, though, is in the fact that Mr. Warner is not doing as he says and he is also producing inferior products. I do not believe a reputable manufacturer can't spell and "mistakenly" switches tags. That's just too easy of a way to take advantage of a not very dumb public and try to get even richer. For those who continue buying Beanies good luck, have fun,
nd if I'm out and see a cute one I will probably purchase it. As they say, be patient and don't pay more than what they are worth. Thanks!!!
- I don't think retailers should be able to price the rare or retired ones for more than any other beanie baby.
- Stores that inflate prices on the hard to finds (i.e. Princess & Erin) & TY sending such small amounts of these 2 Beanies. E. Princess & Erin)
- I think it's terrible that Ty is limiting Erin, like they are Princess. I thought Beanies were meant to be for kids - they should be more available!!!
- I Love this hobby! It is so much fun.
- Country bears that are unavailable except for secondary market and limited numbers (12) i.e. Erin bear are two things I greatly dislike!
- like it a lot
- I love it, keep up the great work.
- Retailers in my area are evil because they always have auctions for the good beanies (such as Princess and Erins) and don't even give the money to charity.
- This craze has really been fun for me and my daughter. We love "hunting" for beanies, but really dislike the people that go around buying up so many of them for the secondary market. Also, the limited shipments of Peace, Princess, and probably Erin (from what we've heard). We are very excited about the upcoming McDonald's releases as well as the Official Beanie Club. We are ready for the next set of retirements (our choices are Chocolate, Pinky, Roary, Patti, Peanut, Valentino, Quackers, and Gracie.

- retailers who gouge customers should have their Ty dealership pulled!
- I hope the market continues to grow but within control so the people can continue to enjoy the hunt. I do not want it made easy!!
- I believe that many authorized dealers are taking advantage of secondary market prices. Ty should restrict sales of the beanies. Many children are not being able to afford the pricing many authorized dealers are placing on beanies.
- I think beanies are great! :-)
- I think that specially made Beanies (Lefty, Righty) should either sell for longer or be more abundant. I also think that prices for current Beanies get way to high, especially when a little kid just wants one to play with.
- I really do not like retailers who sell beanies on the secondary market, in their sotres or to secondary marketers for outrageous prices. I think that retailer should sell beanies for the retail price. If the secondary market can sustain higher prices on their own so be it. I think that ty should not release very popular new releases ie. Princess or Erin before they have enough supply to make it reasonable to get one. I am starting to collect Attics and leaving the beanie collecting except for the
ears because I do not like all the difficulty obtaining them.
- I think that Sweet Cecily in Middlebury, Vermont should not be raffleing off the Erin Bear after the owner told me that she would sell us one for our 4 year old daughter. After I went to pick it up she stated that she would not sell any because she said they were too valuable. This store owner is very greedy!!
- I like the fact that you have to search to find the beanies. It is good that only mom and pop shops are allowed to carry them. I think that the secondary market should have limits put on them. It is ridlicious that a princess bear is selling for 450.00
- I really really want to have Sting the ray because he has the same birthday that I do but whenever I see him he's for sale for a whole whole whole lot of money and it's way too high so I can't get him.
- There is no where for Beanies to go but up. With Mcdonald comming out with a new set, they should get a whole new set of collectors.
- I think that the secondary retailers are dispicable. It's sad that children who love Beanie Babies can't get them because the secondary market is snatching them up. I also think that retailers that get them from TY but sell them for astronomical prices are the scum of the earth. There needs to be an easy way to report these people to TY. I guess TY couldn't really do anything about it, but they should quit selling them to retailers like this. It's at the point where you have to know someone at a r
tailer to obtain the good beanies, and it shouldn't be that way. By the time the retailers put them back for their friends, there aren't any to sell to the public.
- Told my 4 children 2 years ago I would not pay $4.99 for another stuffed animal. Now I'm paying a whole lot more for them and for me!! It's crazy!! But I enjoy it and that's what counts; I guess!!
- Dislike retailers upping their prices.
- I enjoy the search, but what I don't like and what makes me want to stop collecting is when I do find them at a store, they are calling them hard-to-find and over charging and making it impossible to get for our children.
- Beanies are the best theropy ever!
- I dislike "THE LIST" first come first serve!!!! But, one per customer is fair.
- More penalties for retailers that do not even put certain beanies up for sale - they just keep them all for themselves and employees.
- this whole business stinks,i have stopped collecting ty bb's. i collect only disney beanies only now because they are easy to get ,cuter, and there is not a fight to get them or inflated prices!!!!!!!!!!!
- All I did was pick up Quackers, and I was hooked, I love them all and I am 53 years old. Couldn't give Quakers to granddaughter so I had to buy another one for her. I went out this morning and was very lucky to get all new releases, except Puffer, but even better than that, There was 1 Bessie and I bought her for $ 5.95. I am so thrilled. The thing that makes me mad are the dealers in town that sell MOSTLY to Trade shows or secondarey dealers and only put out common or readily available beanies to
good customers that collect, admire, and keep there beanies.
- I and my young daughters collect for the fun of it. We have a couple that have since retired and our first beanie was Nip, that was given to my youngest as a party favor back in 1995. I gives us a "girls" thing to do.
- Well living in Canada, I would like to say that finding Maple is next to impossible, and I cant figure out how somone in the SOuthern USA can be selling Maple by the dozen. I mean that makes as much sense as someone here selling Libearty by the dozen. W
- Why do they only sell Britannia in the UK when lots of other people would buy them?
- the employees in the stores selling beanies are complaining about the customers to much!!! they are doing this right to the customers face (no i am not an obnoxious customer). it's almost like they don't think we are standing in front of them. it turns me off to the store because their attitude represents those stores involved. idea - rainbow the cam. beanie keep changing the colors throughout the coming years to totally different looks.
- It's to hard to get Beanies
- I think that retailers should only be able to sell beanies for the $5.00-$7.50 range and not increase there value just because they are retired or hard to find. Ty should be tighter restrictions on their retailers who are selling beanies to make it equal and fair for myself as a child to purchase them.
- I wish someone would come out with a daily price list similar to the monthly guides that come out and are outdated before they hit the newsstand
- I hate it when stores charge more than $7.oo.
- This is an addiction. It takes up 2-4 hours of my day. I am also full-time employed and a parent. HELP.
- I really dislike the reatailers selling beanies that have been retired or are hard to find for outrageous prices. Just because they get something in after the retirement doesn't mean they should be able to overcharge.
- I love the way the beanies are retired and the new releases.
- I enjoy the Hunt.
- I don't like the fact that it took a year to get Peace the Bear and then I had to pay $24.00, Ty should release more of the new product, I hope that they intend to make Princess and Erin accessible to everyone, unlike the retailer that wants you to purchase a 500 dollar necklace in order to get a Princess, I don't think that was the intention, at least I hope not.
- make it possible to find whatever you want more easily at the normal price of 5.00 why should a collector feel they have to pay 100 times the amount a retailer pays to get something they want for thier collection. Also stop making limited editions such as Erin in which stores only recieve 12 each , by the time employees of these stores get one and they raffle off the rest thier is nothing left for the consumer to do but pay a secondary market a couple of hundred dollars to get something that a retailer
only paid Ty 2.50 for.
- Beanies are cool, rock on beanies....
- Rover is cute, hope they will do him in different colors like the bears.
- I resent the prices some stores have. I am close to being disgusted with the whole thing. I tried to get a Peace bear for my son and I refuse to pay $40.00! And then the store is rude on top of that!!!!
- I have YET to understand the grip this craze has on me. I CANNOT stop looking for Beanies, even when I HAVE them all I still go into stores to STARE at them !!!
- I LOVE them. I have everone I know looking for them and they are becoming addicted. I really hate to see people price gouging , especially current stock and I have no problem in limiting quantities to individual buyers. They should be available for everyone to enjoy. I think that retirements should be limited to once or twice a year and they should only be retired after TY stock is depleted from the warehouse. b
- Princess and Erin should be made available to all. Children and grown up alike should be abe to purchase for a moderate price. Not everyone is rich and has hundreds to spend on them.
- The resale on the Princess Di bear The price that it is going for. Does the money they receive from them does it really go to the charity?
- I do try to sell on the secondary market. I think retailers selling Princess and Erin for $200-300 dollars is definitely wrong. They don't invest nearly enough to make that sort of profit.
- I can understand secondary retailers being pirates but authorized dealers who play with thier prices should be boycoted. I know people are willing to pay the outrages prices for something that will become yard sale fodder, but that's their own stupidity. Still children and people of limited means should be able to buy them at the price Ty meant them to be sold for. The original premisis was to make a quality affordable toy.
- I dislike that people are selling Princess for hundereds of dollars!!!! BEANIES WERE MENT FOR KIDS NOT ADULTS AND ONLY ADULTS CAN AFORD HALF OF THEM!!!!!!! IT'S NOT FARE TO US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY DID GROWN (GREEDY GROWN UPS MIND YOU....THE ONES THAT SELL PRINCES AND ERIN FOR $300-500!) EVER COME INTO THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE?! ALL THE BEANIES SHOULD BA AVALIBLE TO ALL THE KIDS.....IN MEANY OF THE CURRENT ONES. I'M SORRY BUT IT REALLY GETS ME MAD!! AND TO ALL YOU NICE BEANIE COLLECTIORS OUT T
ERE, THIS MESSAGE WAS NOT FOR U. THANK YOU >^..^<
- I love the way kids react when they see beanies in a store. I hate the way a lot of adults behave regarding collecting beanies. I HATE HATE HATE the greed involved so much that it may drive me away from this potentially lovely, gentle hobby. Most beanie lovers are sweet nice people.
- dislike the mark-up on htf just be patient and we can all have a chance
- I have very strong feelings about retailers who purchase at cost from Ty and then turn around and markup a thousand percent! If they can do that, we should all be at libearty to buy at wholesale and charge what the market will bear. (No pun intended!) I think a marketing agreement is a marketing agreement, and dealers are unethical & greedy when they become direct secondary market vendors. I have no problem with an individual buying a beanie and then reselling it on the secondary market at whatever
rice. My predictions: the 97 Teddy will be the next Seamore in terms of value, maybe even do better, because he was out for such a short time, and people are always nuts about bears anyway. I think snowball will do well, but not as well as the '97. Wierd ideas on retirements: Have you ever seen the debut issue 1997 of BEANIE COLLECTOR magazine, featuring Ty Warner & some beanies on the front cover? Well, amazingly, most of the beanies there have since retired. Those remaining current at the moment
are: Pinchers, Waddle, Spot, Inch, Ziggy, Quackers, Bessie, Ringo, & Scoop! Those pictured that have already retired are: Spooky, Goldie, Lizzie, Legs, Seamore, old horned Mystic, Flip, Bubbles, Digger, & Speedy. Think about it!! Who knows?! My 14 year old daughter thinks the next retireds will be: "something red" (like Pinchers or Snort) and something white--especially valentino & mystic.
- I got Erin yesterday for $6.95!!!!
- Beanie Collecting is really a SPORT! The HUNT to find them all is the best part of collecting them. The thing I dislike about collecting them, is having to wait for some of the retailers, to finally sell them to the public, and not give them to friends, family and SECONDARY MARKET BIDS!!!
- love the little cuties
- I really love the beanies.. there is so much good and bad about the collecting phenominon.. but the most important thing is that it's fun.. do as much as you can afford.. don't let it get out of hand. These beanies are for adults and children alike.. everyone loves beanies.. and I hope the love for these animals will be around for a long time.. having them around really.. at stupid as it sounds really help me get through a bad day.
- really ticked off by TY accounts deciding which beanies are Hard To Find & charging more for THOSE, also bumping the prices on the NEWEST releases most times more than DOUBLE of the rest
- Don't collect to get rich, do it cuz ya like 'em !!!
- I don't like the fact that if an extremely rare beanie babie's tag is slightly creased, 10-30% is taken off of its value. Most of the time, it's not the collector's fault; paper naturally creases with age. I think it's also foolish that some beanie babi
- I think that dealers who have beanies delivered right at their door, should quit trying to sell them at secondary market prices. They should have to get in the 4 am line with everyone else if they want to charge so much.
- Dislike retailers forcing customers to buy their products in order to purchase a BB. Also dislike retailers that mark up the retired and hard to find BB's and sell them along side the current styles. Totally like the concept of BB collectibles.
- retailers are not getting any information from Ty, Inc. regarding changes, additions, retirements, special programs, or other information to counteract rumors perpetuated by collectors. Collecters appear to have the latest information before retailers find out. There isn't even a section on Tys' Web page for retailers. Communication is important.
- I think the way they do it is very good maketing but I feel bad for kids who can not afford them...
- I wish the bears were easier to get a hold of. I think it's ridiculous how much people are asking for some of them. I've seen the same Princess at a store near me that hasn't moved off the shelf because the owners refuse to lower the price below $200. I collect them because they're cute, not because of their value, I wish there were more retailers who felt the same way!
- The quality of TY beanies is excellent .A lot of retailers are holding all new issues hostage for triple prices.
- The dealer I usually buy from seems to be very last in getting new beanie babies. We still haven't seen the Princess at her store yet while other dealers have gotten their second shipment ! Ty should hold up initial shipments until all dealers can get at least their first supply.
- I love what you have done with the Princess Bear!! I just hope they are made available so that everyone is able to get at least one of them. I dislike what seems like a long time in between shippings to the retailers and that some Ty retailers sell beanies for higher prices. I would like to see a ferret beanie done! Keep up the good work!
- I wish that the beanie baby collectors out here in the world would be nicer. They can be so mean and uncaring about other people, specially at shows or in stores that do carry beanie babies. Some retailers have stopped selling because of how these people act. We are all out there I hope having fun collecting, not being greedy. People should try talking to each other and sharing thoughts about beanies. Thats the fun about this I feel. Thank You!
- I think that there should be more authorized dealers- especially ones who don't jack up the prices
- I strongly dislike when Ty retailers give in to the "greed" and sell the Beanies that they pay $2.50 for at hugely inflated prices......$25.00/ $50.00/ and up and up. I strongly dislike the Ty retailers who belong to "Beanie Clubs" so that they and their friends pick through all the shipments before they hit the shelves and the hard to finds and bears are skimmed off and sold via the internet. I applaud and respect the Ty retailers who do not give in to the "greed" and continue to sell their Beanie
at the recommended prices, even though they could put the prices up and make a lot more money. I respect that their integrity is worth more to them than the extra money they would make by inflating the prices on their Beanies. I hope that Ty Inc. makes so many Princess and Erin bears that all those people who cheated the kids out of the Beanies in the first place are left with exactly what they purchased for sooooo much money..... a $5.00 Beanie. Thank you for the chance to speak out.....Beanies are
reat!!
- I am highly annoyed at the number of "lots of 12" of Peace, Princess, and other HTFs on eBay. These are virtually non- excitant in the retail market because stores don't even put them on shelves! I really feel for kids who want these and can't even hope to be in the right place at the right time to buy one for $6.00!. Once they are retired then the secondary market will set price, but at least until then currents should be under $10.00. Ty should close the account of anyone who doesn't put new merchan
ise on their store shelves. I would like to see a forum of generosity where kids could complete their collections affordably, after all it is us adults who are hoarding Beanies so children have no chance at getting them.
- It was fun collecting until Princess was released and then everyone got greedy. Now you can't find new ones at normal costs.
- Don't like the secondary market and greediness of some beanie hoarders!
- my comment is to retailers. they took on the job of selling beanie babies and this profits their business. so calm down and be a little more considerate to customers seeking out beanie babies. remember customers make your business run.
- I really dislike the way "Princess is being marketed. When the whole thing started we were assured that there would be enough for everyone after the new year began but now I here that people who are not "loaded" will never be able to purchase one.
- secondary market has gotten way out of hand
- I like that beanie babies are inexpensive, and very collectable. I dislike that Brittania and Maple are not sold in the U.S.A except for secondary market prices.
- I like that beanie babies are inexpensive, and very collectable. I dislike that Brittania and Maple are not sold in the U.S.A except for secondary market prices.
- too many terrier dogs out there
- They should make a Newfoundland puppy
- The price inflation of authorized retailers - these were meant to be toys that children could afford to buy, and some retailers do sell the beanies for 5.95 (or even less), but many charge upwards to $15.00 for current BB. This is maddening.
- TY is dropping reputable dealers and keeping too many dealers that charge secondary market values or sell out the back door.
- I think beanie babies are great, I love collecting them, but I think that the secondary market has gotten so out of control, that it makes it impossible for someone who does not have thousands of dollars to spend to get some very cute and loveable beanies. They do however make it fun and challenging. either way I love collecting them very much!!
- Make more BB's that represent holidays. For example, for New Year's; Confetti.
- I do not like the stores who charge $35 for nonretired beenies, this practice should be stopped and their liscense to purchase from TY dropped. If not it only encourages the practice.
- Retailer's are greedy and holding so they can raise the price to unheard of levels.
- I don't like the way the stores keep the Princess, Valentino, Erin, ect. for themselves and never give anyone a chance at them.
- I love it when retailers hold a lottery for the right to buy hard to finds. I don't like trying to get lucky -unfair to kids, or selling out the back door by retailers
- I really like the Beanie Baby phenomenon, I'm just unhappy that some prices are so high that the "children" these toys were intended for can't afford to have them.
- princess prices are crazy and inappropriate
- Beanies are first and foremost a toy... whether you get them because they're cute, or because they're collectible... Enjoy them!!!
- Retailers who get a shipment of beanie babies in and then proceed to sell them at a higher price i.e. Erin the green St. Patrick's day Bear has just been released and a store call Our Family Tree in Wathena, Kansas is selling it for approximately $200.00 which cuts out people like myself who are collecting beanie babies for the sheer fun of it. I feel that these retailing shops should have a Ty representative checking up on them and be given a warning and if the unfair practice continues, then this re
ailer should be banned from carrying beanie babies.
- I love the beanies. I do hope the phenomenon continues indefinitely!
- I like fair retailers; dislike retailers who gouge their customers, discriminating against kids and adults who don't want to pay or can't afford to pay secondary market prices for certain current as well as retired beanies; like retailers who treat customers well- answer phone inquiries without annoyance, set some reasonable and fair purchase limitations so all their customers have a chance to purchase; dislike customers who lie, push, try to buy all of one design, call in all their friends to buy up a
l the beanies, buy up beanies only to resell at high secondary market prices, leaving few for collectors (both kids & adults). Like anything else, bb collecting seems to bring out the best and worst in people. I've already stopped shopping at several local stores - they've lost my business forever. Greed is a scary thing. Snap out of it people - this should be fun.
- Why they are available at different times in different areas?
- I don't like it that the only Princess Bears I have seen for sale are in the secondary market. The only store I know of in the North Canton, Ohio area that actually sold Princess was the Wicker Co. All I can surmise is that retailers are buying them for themselves and selling them to secondary dealers to get the higher prices.
- I don't like how retailers keep the really good ones like Peace an Princess in the back room and only sell them to friends.
- I LOVE BEANIES VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I think BBs are a healthy phenomenon, one of the best non violent toys for children and in several cases collecting BBs has brought families closer together. All in all BB collecting is GOOD
- i think any authorized dealer should have to sell the bb's at a mfg set resale price...i think the bunnies ( hippity, hoppity, and floppity ) should retire as a set instead of singley....i dislike being able to know which bb's are next to be retired....i like that when the stores in my area get bb's in that they receive quite a few at a time....
- THEY SHOULD KEEP THEM AT $5.00
- I dislike retailers who sell for more than $5 and I refuse to stand in line for any Beanie (except maybe Erin for my daughter Erin!)
- You forgot to metion lot
- It's hard to even find the new beanies. Where I live the dealers buy the new ones from retailers by the case. The secondary market is the only why here to find beanies like Peace, Erin, or Princess.
- It is very dishearting to find that the dealers are "handing" over some of their "stock" to friends to sell as "secondary market". It is also very hard to contend with having to pay between $10 TO $20 FOR THE "NEW" releases ...again for the same reasons. There are some dealers (far to many) who "sell" to a friend almost their entire stock of NEW and the friend then sells them at some other shop for SECOND market price.. Tough, but I don't know how TY could control or prevent it.
- I think that when a new beanie is introduced it should be already in ample quantities available to retailers, so as to eliminate this raffling, auctioning etc.
- Please make enough Princess' and Erins so everyone can purchase one!!!!!!!
- MORE FUN TO BUY
- Don't like that you can't find the new ones like Erin anywhere. TY shouldn't advertise them if they can't supply them.
- I'm really aggravated with authorized Ty dealers selling BBs for more that suggested retail and/or selling on consignment in the same shop.
- I LOVE my BEANIES
- I purchase Beanies for my two children. The beanies in our home are well loved and treasured. I find it sad to have someone tell me to put them away ! They're collectors items. Yes they are, but to me they are collecting memories for us. Memories of watching my children be creative in play. Learning to read, by wanting to know what the poem says. I don't knock those that put them on the shelf. To each his own I say :)
- more bears coming
- I wish I had started sooner.
- I wish they would become easier to find.
- I love the excitement of the new releases
- The secondary market is making it hard for "normal" consumers to find a lot of the beanies. They buy in quantity and then up the price. Retailers shouldn't allow this, but they're in on it, too.
- think that the stores that hide them in the back for internet sales and high dollar is wrong
- I am probably the only one who has performed surgery on Happy so that my math classes could count the beans!
- I LOVE BEANIES!
- I would like to see a cap on the price retailers charge for current beanies and be able to do something about retailers who misrepresent retired beanies that aren't.
- Dislike the greediness ,including some retailers
- I love BB, but they should be regulated or at least made more available, ie Princess and Erin
- I LUV BEANIE BABIES! Even though I've only been collecting for about 1 yr. I along with my brother have over 120 beanie babies!
- When shops lie to you
- I dislike Ty Warner announcing new beanies and then limiting the supply as in 12 per retailer
- Just keep up the great work ty!
- The only thing that i think is bad is that when there is a new beanie that comes out like Princess, or Brittania or now Erin, the Retailers tend to sell off the first batch of them to the secondary market before letting the common collector get any. I do sell Retired beanies and have done very well at it but when it comes to Currents, like the ones i listed, even the Retailers try to make a fast buck and are Greety! I collect the beanies for my son and he gets one of everything but only if it cost $5 o
a little more to get it, but not to pay crazy high prices to get one for him. We still have not been able to get the Priness bear at a store and that is the sad part of all of this. So when people say bad things about the secondary market, they should also think about the Greety Ty distributors who don't sell the new beanies in there store but call up a secondary person and sells them all to them for a higher price instead of taking care of there customers.
- I hate that the dealers are given only enough of certain beanies for their staff and families.
- I think its very hard to find beanies and stores like Meijer,Kmart, and Target should start getting shipments.
- I think Blackie should be retired to join Cubbie in retirement.
- Ty needs to work on a better distribution of BB. I love the BB and so do my classroom as I use them to teach second grade concepts.
- I think price gouging by retailers should be closely monitored. I think this has been excellant marketing strategy on the part of Ty.. I hesitate to buy whole heartedly into the long term collectability of the beanie babies...I'm a little sceptical..I fear it may be very short lived like the virtual pets! I can't help but hope that some of the beanie babies we've bought will be retired soon and increase in value. That would be fun!
- Ty needs to make more to meet the demand!
- I don't care for the lying and deceit that goes on with some of the dealers, in reference to the HTF and trying to obtain information to help them to become knowledgable with the secondary market and info. they could obtain by reading, internet etc. if they would just take time to do it. I feel dealears should be honest and straight forward with customers. If you're not a family member/friend you're out of luck. The Beaniemom attitude with Princess is the only way to go.
- If prices continue to go too high people will not buy everyday beanies. I only feel a few beanies are worth 20 - 30 dollars like princess (since it is going to a good cause) or Peace. Otherwise, the 5-6 price is fair. Those selling for 10 or more are playing unfairly and being greedy.
- I just recently given almost all of my beanies to local childrens hospitals. I am sick and tired of the way retailers and secondary market seller are raising the prices. You look online or go to a store that sells seconday beanies and you see 12 Princess bears for 350.00 each. You know he/she has a friend that is a TY dealer and they are making a killing on beanies. If the TY dealers don't sell the secondary market dealers they hold them for their friends and the beanies never see the store shelves
- would like to see wolves, and prices down where most children can buy them, its a adult market now, some children can not buy them.
- Stop the insanity!
- I like coleting bbs for the fun of it!!
- I think Beanie Babies are very cute!
- Wish they would be shipped on a more regular basis, and that retailers would be more honest about supply. I find many stores save for certain customers, which I don't object to, but I dislike being lied to when they have them in the back room. Would prefer they were honest and said they had received them, but were holding them for special customers. Also resent the retailers who only sell them if you buy their candy, baskets, etc. which run $25 and up in order to purchase one beanie. Do not believe
this "beanie mania" will continue. Feel people are getting fed up with a lot of the merchants.
- We enjoy "beanie" hunting. We have had lots of conversations with other "beanie hunter" as we make our purchases. TY has a wonderful product and we also like the other plush TY creations.
- THERE COOL
- Make more dogs there are so many breeds and don't oversaturate the market keep the momentum going.
- I think they should bring out at least one other vewrsion of each retired so everyone has a chance to get one at a reasonable price.
- I strongly dislike the secondary market having lots of the new ones before the retail stores. Also, the retail stores should be able to order what they need for their area.
- I don't believe the Beanie "trend" will abate anytime soon! Every day new collectors start buying Beanies. The only ones I would even consider parting with are my duplicates--never my "core" collection. So, the more true collectors there are, the smaller number of Beanies that will be available for sale. This is why prices are going sky-high. I saw a royal blue Peanut (no tags) for $1800--someday I will wish I had bought it because it will be $10,000!
- I strongly feel that stores should not be able to charge over $7.00 for Beanie Babies.
- Beanies are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I strongly feel that stores should not be able to charge over $7.00 for Beanie Babies.
- Beanies are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- I think it is great that there are fads like this, because it is an innocent and fun way to enjoy life! Just collecting beanies makes me feel happy, and that's why a lot of people do it. A lof of people do it for the wrong reasons, such as money and greed. I have a problem with this, and also when adults buy up all the beanies and leave none for the little kids! The store I work for sells Beanies, and they constantly change the price, I think there should be regulations on pricing!! At least in au
horized dealers. Thanks!
- My 13 yr old daughter and my sister and I love to go on "beanie runs"
- I am seriously thinking of selling all my beanies, because it is so hard to get some of them.
- I really like the beanie babies, but I am getting quite frustrated with the dealers who are getting very greedy. If, I, as an adult, cannot afford the price they are putting on new beanies, then how in heavens name can the kids who are collecting them? I think they are a cute little collectible, but some people are getting out of hand, and I think something should be done about it? Thank you.
- I think TY is creating a problem by releasing minimum quantities on the new bears Princess and Erin...they should know by now that the market will be more agressive on them, and should manuafactur enought product to release larger quantities....If they can mass produce teeny beanies for Mac Donalds, they can most certainly make enough bears, that they wont be sold for hundreds of dollars, before they are even retired! This type of practice is very discouraging for children, who don't understand, and
on't care about maketing, and is also very discouraging to a working mother, who is unable to search all day long for beanies when they do come in! Most of the time they are gone before I can even get to the stores after 5:00 or 6;00!
- I would like to see them become a little more avaiable. It seems that stores that do carry them run out quickly or are taking advantage of the situation and charging more, especially where Princess is concerned. One Hallmark dealer in our area has charged more than the 5-7 dollar range for the new ones. While another Hallmark dealer in our area was charging 5.00 for Princess, but then she has a waiting list of 200. I just hope that they will realize what did start as something children could afford
is getting alittle out of hand. I, as an adult , and collecting other items as well, enjoyed getting them for $5-7 dollars. Now, I get somewhat upset when I have to pay more and not necessarily off the secondary market.
- I dislike that Peace`s value has gone down! From $100 to $60
- I LOVE BEANIE BABIES
- The second hand retailers will sell beanie babies for like 10 bucks when yet you can get them at a dealer for like 5 or 6. That annoys me greatly.
- good survey
- prices for Erin and Princess are too high
- Since I'm primarily buying for my two kids (ages 6 and 3), it's frustrating to have to compete with the people who don't work for a living and buy Beanies to sell on the secondary market. I also appreciate those retailers who limit their sales of Beanies by style (2 per person) for the hottest Beanies. We're not trying to make money on the Beanies; we just like to play with them and have fun!
- would like to see princess more available for the children to purchase, would like to see more honest retailers.
- I think Iggy and Rainbow have wrong fabrics. Look them up in the dictionary. Demand definately exceeds supply!
- I think Ty is doing himself a disservice, in the long run, by making the new releases so darn hard to get. I have visited both in stores, and via the comp. with lots of people who are dumping their entire collections because Ty ships in such small quantities, for whatever reason, and makes it almost impossible to get the newer items. He says he detests the secondary market, but with all the crooked retailers around, they prefer to sell to the secondary people and we then have no choice but to purchase
rom the secondary market. I am thinking particularly of Erin now. I had to pay 150.00 for Princess and trust me, I won't do it again. I'll get out first too.
- don't understand why erin the bear is going for over $200 when it was just released?
- They should make Flame the Fireant and Archie the Scorpion
- nothing else
- they should make a chow chow
- I hope Erin is not retired any time soon!
- I love collecting beanies. I wish the bears were easier to get
- Beanies have far outlasted the "Tamagotchi" craze and others... Ty Collectibles are GREAT investments- whether it be for profit or just collecting each new, cute little face. My opinion: Though the craze will inevitably die down a little, I think it's her
- A retailer told me they had signed an agreement with Ty when they opened their account that they would charge between $5 and $7 for beanie babies they sold. I wish Ty would close the accounts on all retailers that are violating this agreement. Also I wish Ty would not make any more beanies like Princess or Erin where they put a limit of 12 that retailers can order per month. Many collectors like myself will never see these beanies unless we pay an outragous price.
- I hate how people sell BB's for so much! I think alot more stores should sell beanie babies.
- very fun, highly addictible hobby, curly and valentino next for retirement.
- Would love a poodle and easier buying then there is know. The dealers hjide them after i spend hundreds of dollars i still can't find erin or princess
- Retailers charging large amounts for the new releases!
- This is fun~!!
- i think ty should produce more of each one that people are searching for and stop the endless searches for us to find the bears for example, i am a bear collector and am unable to get them they are in such limited supply here in colorado
- Get a black lab beenie (prez's=Buddy)
- My children and i love beanie babies, even my two year old, but it is getting to the point where even current ones are hard to afford. I am losing interest because i can't afford the ones that we want and like. I will only purchase beanies if i think it is a reasonable price, retired or current! The kids go nuts over these toys, but i have three children. If i can't afford to buy all of them one then we just don't get them
- I think Ty shouldn't retire so fast! How can any kid keep up? How can a kid collect them all with a mother and father who aren't beanie-crazed? What if we have a small allowence? I will never be able to get them all!
If i can't afford to buy all of them one then we just don't get them
- The adults are taking over, so children can't get them. I wish TY would do something.
- The phenomenon will die after a peak this summer due to oversaturation of market and greedy retailers
- Difficulty in getting Princess, Erin etc is taking ALL the fun out of it & I get furious when I see people selling them by the DOZENS on the net. No wonder the "regular" customer can't find them.
- It's all for fun :)
- Don't like how Princess has been allowed to go up so high in price, impossible for a child to get!!! Shame on Ty!!
- I think Ty did wrong with Princess, she was first produced for charity and look what it's done for the secondary market. Then they come out with Erin and thats impossible to get and not pay
- Ty's distribution system STINKS. Letting the dealers only order once a month is ridiculous. Plus the fact that some stores seem to be on the "A" list and get everything they order, and others never get their complete orders.
- I think it's a wonderfully fun hobby for myself & my daughter. She and I are hoping to become a retailer for Ty Beanie Babies. We have requested information, and if you have any information on how we can get into the madness please e-mail me at rokudan1@janics.com Your survery was very interesting. Alot of speculation is flying around the area that we live, word has it Blizzard will be the next to retire, due to some law suit with Dairy Queen. If it's not true it sure is making Blizzard a difficu
t BB to find! Thanks Again. Sara & Annie. e-mail rokudan1@janics.com
- Retailers for ty should have their distributions rights pulled when they sell Beanies for 10 - 100 times more then they paid for them
- I predict there will be a new "Xmas" Teddy (dated with the year) for the next 5 years, making the whole set of five Christmas bears one of the hottest collectible items!
- I feel that this was the best thing that I and my husband could have ever got into. Best of all because my husband now loves this more than gambeling and spends our money with the Beanie Babys rather than those stupid machines. I feel that even if it were a fad I would still benefit in the long run for our future kids.
- Waddle, Bernie, Valentino, Derby, Ziggy, bones, zip, Patty, Pinky
- I do not like the fact that some retailers won't sell to children under 18 years old. Remember, it all began for the children and now they won't sell. It's not like it's a drug, alcohol or cigarettes. They are toys!!! I've seen too many kids walk out of a store crying because the store would not sell to them. It isn't fair.
- I think that the price beanies are going for now (in secondary market) is at almost the highest it will ever be. Ty produces so many that in a few years and after the fad they will not be a rare colletible.
- I'm frustrated by the retailers charging such ridiculous prices for popular beanies such as Princess, Erin & other hard to find ones. People are way too greedy & it's keeping the children from obtaining tehm for the sole purpose of playing with them.
- I think this craze can last as long as the regularly scheduled retirings and new releases are maintained, and as long as new releases are supported by stepped up manufacturing runs.
- I was just at a store that had received it's beanie shipment (it was on the floor in plastic bags). Some customers were obviously secondary dealers, buying up to a dozen of one style. That was irritating because many shops try to curb the dealers by restricting purchases. Then I picked up two rare bears (Valentino and the brown napped bear). I don't collect bears, I didn't want them but I suddenly felt a horrid greedy feeling that _I_ got them first. I was so disgusted with myself that I put them
own. They were gone instantly and I felt that awful feeling again, that I should have grabbed them even though I didn't want them. Taking something just to have it, that's what is making me ill. That's what is ruining the fun of these cute toys.
- I don't like the prices being asked for Princess and Erin.
- After months of buying beanies from here and there, I finally found a retailer I like to deal with. He calls me when they come in and sells them at reasonable prices. I got tired of those retailers that hide them behind the counter and sell them at whatever prices they can get. Shame on those who do that! My kids all want Peace, Princess, and Erin and one day, they will all have one of each at a decent price and who cares if the tags are ripped off and thrown away. I can't wait to see a Princess be
r that looks as ragtag as my childrens' other 30-something well-loved beanie babies. Ty should flood the market with bears so we can all enjoy them---not just those out there with deep pockets.
- It's terrible to see parents and adults alike fighting over beanie babies -- I buy them because they are low priced, adorable stuffed animals which really stir the imagination in my nieces, versus a commerical or battery operated toy. As a marketer myself, I'm very disappointed in how Ty is handling this situation. They are EXTREMELY concerned about protecting their trademark (i.e. beanies being sold with jewelry) but they don't care that retailers are charging outrageous prices, which is leaving dis
ppointed children everywhere. Children started the Ty phenomenon and they should remember that. It's personally disappointing to me that I will NOT be able to purchase the Erin bear for all my Irish heritage nieces because I can't find it in a regular retail store and I refuse to get in a bidding war over a $5 stuffed animal. Thank you.
- I think that Princess should be made more available to the general public. The few who have Princess are either lucky, wealthy or employees of retailers.
- TY said he created beanies as an affordable, cute, toy for kids. Now look at the adults who take their childrens beanies and lock them in a case and don't permit their children to even touch them. I think this beanie madness has gone out of controll and it is no fair to the kids who want them only because they are cute. It is just a race to see who has the most money and unfortunatly it is the adults.
- I despise those who mark up their regular delivery and/or sell to secondary market. have yet to see Princess available for under $300. It took me 9 months to get Peace for under $10 (my absolute limit). TY should flood the market with it's new ones -- not make them impossible to find. Then it can retire them and the secondary market can do what it likes.
- Beanie Babies are a good conversation starter for all ages
- its very frustrating when you cant find what you want and then see rosie odonnel tossing the to her audience and giving erin to penny marshall
- I enjoy collecting for myself and my five grandchildren. There are five of us at work who collect and we are having so much fun. We have an "on-going project". We dislike inflated prices and buy mostly for $6 or less. None of us will go back to the st
- I like shop "limits"-one each per person , this helps to stop dealers buying up stock , I don't like retailers RAISING the prices , now they are $6.00-UP , And I'm not happy with beanie "shows" , I attended my first one last week and could not believe all the so called "retailers" who had supplied or were there themselves selling at much higher prices.... I myself have sold ONLY one beanie for more then I had paid for it , I sold Manny for $70. when it was "valued" at $100. I sold it because my son did
't like it anyway and thought I'd use the money to buy MORE current ones.. I sold it to a friend for a price that SHE offered me , I didn't set the price... And I have "traded" a few -One for One - so I'm not a beanie re-seller.. Just a collector.. I very upset with how Princess and now Erin are being handled , the prices are WAY OUT!! And I don't like how some shops raise prices on only "some " saying they are "hard to get" , "rare" , ETC...
- I hate it when stores make you buy their merchanise in order to get a certain beanie.
- This trend will probably die out quickly. Unfortunately :(
- Keep making the bears......
- My 5 y/o daughter would like to take this survey
- I think that all new Beanies should be sold at the regular price at stores and then, if people want to sell them on the secondary market for more, they can. I've been trying to find an Erin. I went to a gift shop in a hotel and they wanted $100. Also, our local stores are selling them for charity or raffling them. When Princess came out, I think this was fine because she was for charity to begin with. But if this has started a trend with each new bear coming out, I'll stop collecting the bears. I
's fun to call and run around to find the Beanies. That's part of the fun. But to have to spend tons of money, forget it!
- I don't like that stores can put any price on the beanie that they chose and that Ty systematically puts "fear" into individuals making them think they will not be able to get certain beanies. I also do not like the way many buyers act in stores when they are buying beanies - grabbing, pushing, and just plain aggressive. This is sitting a bad example for our children who the beanies are supposed to be for in the first place. It's a sad situation.
- I wish it was easier to aquire the new bears, i.e. Princess, Erin.
- I would like to add that the Princess Bear is being abused. Her profits are to go to charity, yet people still seem to come up with them and charge exhorbitant amounts of money to sell or raffle it. This money then goes in their pockets, not a charities!
- The princess bear intro was handled poorly. If the intention was really to make money for charity, there should have been enough to go around and not limited so only retailers profit.
- I just want to enjoy collecting
- I Love Beaniies! My Husband is the one who got us hooked.
- The main thing I would have a complaint about right now is the limited number of some beanies that are being shipped. The original intent should be to supply children with toys, but the prices go so high that it is impossible to even aquire them and especially for children. This should be something that they can collect (like Barbies or baseball cards) and be able to see some payback for it in the future.
- My niece is a Beanie "expert" and says the trend is fading fast. I disagree. But either way, I don't care. I love my Beanies very much and intend to give my collection to my baby daughter when she is grown. I do, however, get frustrated with the people who are buying Beanies strictly to sell for their own personal profit. It shouldn't be that way. But this is America, and we are a GREEDY country.
- i am starting to see retailers in my area selling bears for $10.00 and up - this is unfair because they still are paying $2.50 each . i believe the greed is getting to them too!!
- I think the secondary market stinks, it makes it extremly haed for children to get the beanies they want, I also think any dealer who charges more then the $5.00 for any current including Peace, ERIN,and Princess should be dropped. They are ripping off children!!
- I keep thinking that some time soon the whole market will get tired of them, but they don't! I get them because they're cute and my kids love them. My husband works for a retail store and can get them cheaper than market value otherwise I wouldn't pay the high prices.
- it would be more fun if I knew exactly how many were made of each
- Stores make it hard for people like me to get. I'm just collecting for myself and friends not to resale
- I wish when a new beaie is announced Ty would have the stock to release on the market. Some of the beanie prices on the currents are simply out of control. I especially hate the shops who are selling Princess and Erin for 100-200 dollars and more. I visited a shop in Carbondale Il that changed her Princess Bear price 3 times in 2 weeks. She also sells Peace for an outrageous price. She is a authorized TY shop.
- I get very upset with the retailers that set the new Beanie Babies aside for their perfered customers. It is hard for the rest of the general public to buy them when they are being held out for other customers. It should be on a first come first serve basis.
- Retire one each month
- Retailers and Distributors selling the beanies for higher prices at craft malls and swap meets for personal gain. Tremendous and outrageous prices on secondary market. Secondary market getting new releases before stores! Sometimes rude retailers with a "take it or leave it" attitude. Availability of special releases such as Princess or Erin, the way they are released does nothing but help the secondary market. Children and personal collectors don't have a chance to obtain special releases at a nor
al price. The Princess bear is still unobtainable unless you buy it secondary, it's being sold for the high dollar or "raffled" with the proceeds going into private pockets rather than charity. I guess it's true that in a situation such as this, charity begins at home! I'd love to see Ty introduce a "Cockatoo", it would be so cute! Also a peacock would be beautiful!
- doing great job except retailors should put new releases out for normal prices hallmarks do
- I do not like the fact that Ty will limit the number of beanies that retailers can order. I don't understand why Ty can't flood the market with enough of the popular beanies so that everyone would have a chance to purchase it without paying the ridiculous prices that the retailers will charge to make as much a profit as possible. It is giving Ty a very bad reputation and annoying customers and retailers alike. Why must a brand new beanie go directly to the secondary market to be able to purchase it?
This is crazy and makes you just want to stop buying. I had a call yesterday from a store that they just got Erin in and do I want her for $225.00? Why can't something be done about this situation? Thankyou for letting me vent but I don't think it's going to change anything soon. It's really a shame that trying to collect these beanies has come down to this!!!!
- I think that princess is going for to much $.
- i am really wanting ERIN cant find a dist. that will sell it at the right price
- It's nice to be able to collect something I've always loved that actually appreicates in value, but it's also a little frightening that perhaps in 20 years, the craze will be over, and my beanies will merely be amusement for the eyes.
- I have a Flip with Strut on the Tush Tag
- I find it very aggravating to find beanie babies. If Ty were to mass produce them and give the reatilers more of them some of the hysteria would die down and Ty would continue to reap the profits. It's very difficult when you have a child who is constantly asking why they can's get Peace, Princess, Garcia, etc. I think that the Princess bear should have been made readily avalable for al to purchase not just those who spend everyday searching for them.
- I love beanies. I don't like inflated prices when they first come out. Later on as demand dictates is okay. Unavailability of some new beanies is not good.
- I think the trend will last longer than routinely anticipated. I just wish it was easier to find retireds at reasonable prices. I feel like I'm being punished because I was unaware of the beanies prior to mid-'97. I would never pay the crazy secondary prices to fill my collection (for my daughter, 11 months old right now).
- I LOVE THESE LITTLE CREATURES
- I enjoy the "chase" involved in finding my beanies, but I hate that the newest beanies and the "specialty" bears (Erin & Princess) are impossible to find. Every place I check either says they haven't gotten ANY yet, or they sold out in 5 minutes...It makes this nice hobby extremely frustrating. I am very disappointed with the rumors that Princess will not be available to everyone likr Ty Warner stated in the beginning. There must be a fairer way to determine the amount of beanies being distributed to s
aller areas. Some of us do not live in large metropolitan areas and we would like access to the newer styles also!
- Middle-Aged Adults who make it hard for us kids, jumping over us (literally) to buy the last 'Pounce'. Find something better to do with your lives other than making our lives miserable! Do you think this is fair? Go Collect Madame Alexander dolls!
- I love collecting because it's always full of surprises and you never know what will happen next!
- Why is Ty dropping many of the loyal retailers like me that has had an account since 1993 and only sold the beanies at regular prices? Paid all bills on time and on a credit card? And gives no reasons. My store is supported 90% by Beanie Sales and now I must close my doors.
- I'm sick of the game Ty is playing. Why can't they make enough and then monitor the stores selling them. I still have yet to get Princess. I don't want to have to make a purchase of 200. to get her. They are being really stingy with something was to be a good cause by Ty
- I want to see Princess and Erin Bears for regular prices. I'm sick of seeing them for $300 in the Hallmark and similar stores. I wish TY would make enough so everyone can have one.
- Could you please find some way to sew in the names on each animal? Do away with the tags therefore it would be very hard for anyone to dupilicate. Terri Hall tlhall@ne.infi.net
- dislike authorized dealers that sell all new stock to secondary market people. Would like to find out how to stop this!!!! Also would like to know who to contact about authorized dealers that sell stock at secondary market prices!
- I am a working mom and cannot look for BB's during work hrs. The popular places are usually sold out by the weekends (these stores are never open until 9 pm) and some of the retailers that I have now run across are jacking up the prices to what the secondary market people are selling them for and I refuse to buy them from these outlets. I'll wait until I come across the ones I don't have for the reasonable price of $5.95 like I have found the majority of my others.
- Beanies are adorable..I never figured I would be in this craze..it's like eating chips..can't have JUST one! Even the ones I think are not cute...become cute after holding it! Hope it NEVER ends. Love the fun of the HUNT and so do my kids. I think if it were not for the secondary market they would not be worth as much in later years. I won't buy any expensive retireds..just be patient for now! I really want ERIN BUT DON'T THINK I WILL BE ABLE TO...that is sad! But there will be more great ones
o come. Can't wait for the new Official Club Kit!!!!!!
- People that work don't get first chances to buy.
- I have met many interesting people in the purchasing process.
- we use beanies as fundraising for charities
- What I don't like is that I have a difficult time finding the lastest ones.
- more retirements/ less production
- i work @ hallmark we do not put beanies out @ 10:00 in the morning , we do limite them to 4 per customer 1 of each style and we do put them out at differant times of the day. retailers are not getting only 12 princess bears( we got 48 ) and we do not take all of them we were only aloud 1 of ea. di. bear. the problem is if we put them out people fight over them . also we get rude because people dont understand we get too many calls a day about these things . thats not to mention how many people come in
to the store to ask if we have them . we do not have the time to tell everyone who calls which ones we have either and we dont care if they boost our sales because most of us dont work off comission
- i feel ty corp. needs to retire more often and introduce new ones at the same time. I can see the market slowing down and too many are available right now.
- I regret that the earliest Beanies had no names on their tush tags. My sister bought a Brownie in Colorado when her daughter was born four years ago but removed the tag immediately so the baby could play with it. Now there is no way to distinguish it from Cubbie! Also, I wish that the bears (such as Princess and Erin) were available on the market for at least a short period of time before shooting up in price!
- Yes and I am glad you are asking this question. Because I believe that Ty is way out of control. Particularly with how the Princess Diana Beanie Babie was handled. Almost every retailer out there that purchased the Princess Bear, kept the "limited dozen" all to themselves and sold them for serveral hundred dollars, and do you really think they donated to charities? Not a chance, almost every retailer that I talked to couldnt justify where there 1 dozen went. Most of them gave up maybe one for an auc
ion or raffle. I have decided not to purchase anymore beaies after this experience. I am not sure what I will do with the beanies that I currently own. But I will not purchase anymore. There really aren't enough pellets in them anyhow.
- I THINK IT'S DISGUSTING HOW THE RETAIL STORE OWNERS/MANAGERS ARE DECEIVING US RETAIL SHOPPERS.... AND WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THEM TO TY WARNER, IF I THOUGHT IT WOULD DO ANY GOOD, AND IF I KNEW HOW TO CONTACT HIM. I COULD GIVE HIM A GREAT LIST OF MERCHANTS THAT FIT INTO THIS CATEGORY !!
- it will die out sometime maybe not now but eventually
- i think retailers should have equal prices on ALL of them...
- People need to shop to find the best buys. Those that are selling at outrage prices will lose business in time. There is a mall in our area where there are 5 stores (authorized dealers) that are selling beanies. Imaginarium charges $5 each. Hallmark c
- I want to be able to buy Erin for $5.00
- I do not like retailers not making new shipments available to those of use who have to work during the day and cannot make it to the stores at 10:00 in the mornings. They should consider this and have some shipments put out on the shelves later in the day, say after 6:00 at night.
- i think the retailers should put their new shipments out at different times during the day in limited quantities.
- Would like to see the availability of Princess (and Erin) to improve!
- My children just love beanie babies - they are very cute and affordable; if you are able to purchase and find them at retailers that sell them for 5-7 dollars. I really dislike the retailers who make you buy two current beanies for each new beanie; retailers who sell new beanies for ten dollars and current beanies for five dollars; and retailers who sell Peace, Curly and some other of the harder to find currents for 25-35 dollars or the "new" Derby or Mystics for twenty dollars. If they want to get i
to the secondary market, fine, but please remember that most of the customers are children who need a source of inexpensive toys.
- Dislikes: I dislike retailers who lie to customers, telling us certain beanies are retired when in fact they have not, just to get a higher price on a Beanie. I firmly believe ALL currents should be kept under $10 so children (and adults too!) can afford them. Likes: Well, Beanies themselves! They make me happy just having them around. Ty has created a lovey, cuddly product that has captured the hearts of people of all ages, both male and female. I predict Beanie Babies will be around for a lon
time to come. Ideas on products . . . HEY TY!!! ARE YOU LISTENING?! WE NEED A **WOLF** BEANIE!!! PLEASE?! Sorry for shouting there. Just wanted to make sure someone at Ty heard me!!!! Thanks for the survey, I've enjoyed this, I'll be looking for the results! :)
- their here to stay
- I just think that the price gouging that is going on in the primary market is pretty sleazy...and so is the price gouging in the secondary market...I refuse to purchase beanies from secondary retailers at outrageous prices!
- Ty keeps holding back on certain dealers and I don't think that's fair
- They should ship with tag protectors from the manufacturing company (a tag encased in plastic)
- working people have a hard time finding any of the new ones. They are all gone by the time we get there. Apparently stores are not getting a large enough supply. Very discouraging. Almost ready to give up on the whole idea. Thanks to friends who pick them up for me...when they can get more than one. And the beanies such as the new Erin...shame on Ty for distributing so few of them.ÿ
- I think the tie die and white beanies are the ones that's values will increase more dramatically once they are retired. I enjoy the hunt for beanies, but get discouraged when the secondary market buys them all up. I believe that limiting the quantity purchased at one time might help slow down the secondary market. This Beanie Baby craze IS an addiction. I haven't had the urge to buy anything else with my disposible income!!
- I really hate the fact that some storesrequire an additional purchase just so you can buy beanies. This is not right. A child saves his or her allowance should not have to spent it on other products in store , just so they can buy a beanie baby.
- keep them coming
- dislike ty retailers selling new beanies at high prices
- I love them but they putting me in the poor house. I'd say I wish they were cheaper but they are pretty affordable. I just wish there were more out there so I wouldn't feel like if I don't get it now, it may be gone.
- I wish Ty would just send out the new Beanies and not so many older ones. Those of us collecting are waiting(patiently?) every time they release new ones, and it is getting old.
- I would like to see: Timber the Wolf, Giggles the Heyena, Grizzly the bear, Shivers the Polar Bear, Hoppers the Grasshopper, and Bouncy the Bichon. I love beanies. I wish I would have started collecting sooner and it wasn't so expensive to obtain retireds.
- extreme price differentials
- I wish that beanies were a little more available in the stores where I live
- I have had a lot of fun collecting Beanies and recently sold my collection for a small profit considering all the work that went into obtaining it. I still am collecting but only on a smaller scale. I most enjoy the teddy bears and am currently looking for Erin and Princess. I was discouraged with the sales of Princess before Christmas as I witnessed stores selling her for $200+ and the owners pocketing the profits instead of donating the proceeds. I feel Ty should not have accounts with retailers
such as that. Ty needs to monitor its accounts more closely and prevent such greedy people from profitting. I have no idea where this is all going, but as one lady said, "Either they will be worth something in the future or be 25 cents at garage sales!!!!
- I feel that TY Corp should make a Princess Bear that is affordable for everyone.
- I am a retailer and HATE what has happened within this corporation. They have managed to mis-manage a multi million dollar corporation - making retailers and consumers CRAZY!! I am a non-profit hospital gift shop who has been with TY for 20 years. I resent not being able to get product (not just Beanies - I wait for months for plush!) while thousands of others have jumped on the band wagon to line their pockets with this newest rage of Beanie fanaticism. My opinion about Ty Warner is that he is an u
scrupulous entrepreneur and I have to say that I hope he bottoms out. He has treated his 'old' customers with true disinterest and disrespect, and I resent that. I have labored to take care of my customers that have been with me for years - why should I not be able to expect that in return from one of my suppliers? I truly hope that this somehow gets to the desk of the magic
- i think that adults should not be allowed to hog all the beanie babies kids want all the time and sell them on the 2ndary market
- I'm really appalled at the prices that are being charged on Princess & think it's a real rip off!! The only money going to her charities is the $2.50 that the reatailer pays Ty for the bear. I really think those people charging $400, etc or less should be jailed!! Also how do some stores get all the new ones & lots, when another store (who sells lots of Ty plush) can't get but 1/2 of an order a month & to this day still has not received Princess or any of the Winter 98 new ones & they order every mont
just as they are allowed!!
- I like BB's because they are cute and cudily.I don't like the moms who buy all the BB's and don't leave any for the kinds and the BB crazz is of the hook because Ty Warner didn't think it would be like this.I think retails shoud sell it for 5.00$ apeace.Hi my name is well I can't tell you my name cause my dad said" DON'T GIVE YOUR NAME OUT ON THE INTERNET" So just E-mail me at ggregg@webzone.net
- I don't like to have to constantly be on the
- I think that Picnic the Ant would make a good Benie Baby.
- I dislike how long it takes for beanies to be released in Canada.
- I think that McDonalds is going to be supplying TTB again this spring
- They need some more "holiday related" beanies. Such as, Santa Clause, a reindeer, or something more. Amosquito would be cute too!
- Make a ferret beanie!!
- I like beanie babies because they are cute, and i think it's crazy that people would pay more than 50$ for a little stuffed animal.
- I dont usually search for particular beanies, just which ever ones catch my eye at the time. Beanies are the Shit!!!
- I am nuts about the Beanie Babies. I hope that the trend never ends. I would love for you to make them a little bit more exclusive. Just as I think I've got the next to be retired you send out another shipm
- Beanies, for me, are the perfect hobby. My husband and daughter participate in my "hunts". I am happy that my hobby has become an investment, however, I am concerned that retailers purchasing directly from Ty, and selling at secondary market values may destroy the collectible"ness" of this hobby. If it's not affordable for all, including KIDS, it's not affordable, and will die. Thanks, this was fun!!!!
- Beanie Babies are neat and all, but some places charge too much
- I dislike the limited availability
- I like the challenge of finding the Beannie I'm looking for. I dislike retailers charging inflated prices.
- I like Beanies * like to see Beanie tree ornaments
- I have many of the retired and hard to find ones such as, garcia,Teddy,Flash,Splash,Sparky,Princess,97'Teddy and more! I enjoy all beanies except the extremley common ones!
- prices should be set for one and all
- i work so it is very hard to find new ones. stores get tired of people calling. i think they are cute.
- Make more Bears representing different countries.
- I wish they were more readily available! I hate hunting for them.
- i think beanies are here to stay. the only thing wrong is my boyfriend doesn't like i spend so much time and money on them. but i can't help myself they are addicting.
- I love beanies, but I think that : 1) Nanook should be easier to find, & 2) I wish that I could afford to buy an Erin, Princess, ect. with my allowance like us kids were SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I also think that stores shouldn't sell Erins & Princesses to dealers when they said the day before that we would have one!
- I like to surprise my friends with retired beanies, so I get them whenever I can, and have fun in the speculation- Christmas was great! Everyone was SO SURPRISED to see old retireds in their stockings that I had bought LAST YEAR! And they're now worth ton
- They should flood the market with these beanies and not limit the supply sent to retailers. People want the bears and if you are not the first one in line when they come in you'll never get one!
- I just wish that it was easier to achieve such beanies as Erin and the Princess bear. I understand that some people donate money to charity but for the most part the money is to benefit themselves. Due to these high prices I most likely will not be able to complete my current collection. I am a college student and do not have an extra two hundred dollars to spend on beanies.
- I don't like the greed I see out there whenever a new beanie is on the scene on the other hand I have met alot of nice people. And collecting beanies is fun, especially trying to get that hard to find beanie and at a reasonable price.
- popularity will vanish in next twelve months
- I LOVE MY BEANIES AND I THINK THEY ARE REALLY FUN TO COLLECT.MY WISH WOULD BE THAT PEOPLE NOT BE SO GREEDY SO THAT EVERYONE CAN ENJOY THEM. IT REALLY TICKS ME WHEN I GET A CALL THAT A STORE HAS GOTTEN IN A SHIPMENT AND YOU HAVE TO GO AND FIGHT TO BUY THEM AND OTHER PEOPLE ARE WALKING OUT WITH ARMLOADS. I HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF EVER SELLING ANY OF MINE. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALLOWING ME TO SPEAK MY PIECE.
- I do not like when they only make a few beanie babies
- Retirement schedule may be too frequent.
- I really feel that retailers should not be able to raise the price on retired or hard to find beanies. If they do they should not be able to sell beanies at all.
- i have a very hard time dealing with authorized retailers who operate as if they are secondaries. i also feel that Ty is walking a very thin line right now, as far as the availability of certain beanies(such as erin and princess). i personally feel that they are in danger of killing their market...the "common" collector, such as myself, simply doesn't stand a chance against the dealers, and getting burned is getting old. fun survey! thanx for it!
- I think that all beanies should be sold for only 5.00 to 10.00 at the most!
- i enjoy looking for beanies for my 2 children and myself. I wish I could find Princess for under $100 which I will not pay, and hope Ty produces enough so that we all may get one.
- Tighter Standards are Needed in the condition of Retired Beanies. Ty Werner could Begin to Number " ALL " new beanies on the TUSH tag, Creating known quantities of each New Ty Beanie Baby.
- I think that beanie's are a whole lot of fun to collect and I want every single one. But I think its crazy to spend 400 dollars on one.
- I am disgusted by the greed of the black/secondary market people who buy beanies just to make money.I have not been able to obtain Princess yet for my daughter yet these scum manage to obtain several then try to resell them at outrageous prices. These people make me sick as they are depriving a large number of children whose parents can not afford hundreds of dollars for a product originally intended for kids!
- I love it!! I hate the high prices!!!
- I would love to own an Erin, Maple, or Princess, but the retailers have taken away the joy of owning beanies. $200 - $500 for these bears is nuts. Yet the Canadian retailers are able to sell at these high prices. I am trying to sell of my collection, just to get out of this craziness!
- I think that all beanies should be sold for only 5.00 to 10.00 at the most!
- WHAT STARTED OUT FOR FUN HAS TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE! SECOND HAND DEALERS ARE ALWAYS FIRST IN LINE AND THOSE OF US WHO JUST WANT TO COMPLETE OUR COLLECTION DON'T STAND A CHANCE. THEY COULD GIVE IT A REST ONCE IN AWHILE AND GIVE THE REST OF US A CHANCE! SINCE THE BEANIE CRAZE, EVERYBODY IS TRYING TO MARKET "BEANIE"PRODUCTS. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE EVERYBODY HAVE A CHANCE...BEANIES ARE JUST SOOO CUTE...FOR BOTH YOUNG AND OLD!!!
- i do not like the fact that the new Erin bear is not going on sale but is to be raffled like Princess has been . My children 3 and 8 years do not understand why we can't just buy them and to be honest I don't either . I wish the ty company could do something about it or that the retailers were less greedy .
- I love it!!
- Makes me feel young again
- I definitely think Beanies are great . . . but I think that the Teenie Beanies last year increased their value and hardness to get. For some people, that's not really good. Especially for me - - since then, I've only acquired about 15 Beanies. That I am disappointed in . . . and also, I think Ty should have made more of Princess.
- capitalism..i love it but i love the beanies more..especially the bears
- I don't think dealers sould charge more for the recent beanie babies released.
- It is very hard for a working person to get to the stores before they are sold out. I also wish they could bring them out in greater quantities quicker.
- i hope they make some rodents, especially a rat ( rat's are not dirty i have 8 of them males and females. i also had one give birth, they are very clean animals) i hope to see a rat but not by the name of dirty
- I like them.
- Beanie Babies are cool. I have practicly all of them, including a club (but that club is over) and I have over 5 books, over 2 different kinds of magazines, and I always call stores. I am on practicly every single store in Escondido's calling lists. WHAT AN INVESTMENT AND HOW CUTE THEY ARE!!!!
- I do not like how the secondary market people buy up all the babies before hard working people like myself can make it to the store.
- I do not think retailers should make customers buy beanie babies they already have or do not want just to be able to buy one of the new releases. Also, TY has made it difficult to find so many of the new releases that there are lots of disappointed children. Why come out with a product that is supposed to be for children and not make it readily available. I think the craze has gotten out of hand. Many people are taking advantage of the situation and getting rich!!! Of course, people don't have to
buy from the secondary market if they don't want to!!!
- I think beanie babies are great. they are the best thing i ever owned!
- I hate that everyone in the business acts like this beanie thing is such a secret noone ever want to tell where the good deals are or when new shippments come in.
- The way Princess was marketed was terrible. Unless you are fortunate enough that you don't have to work for a living and can call every store and drop everything and run when a store had Princess or pay un-Godly prices, you didn't have a chance to get her. Some people have to work for a living and didn't have a chance when it came to Princess.
- It is very hard to enjoy and keep up collection when you can't even get the new ones for a decent price
- I just enjoy collecting beanies for the fun of it. I wish the older ones weren't so expensive. My allowance isn't enough to buy them.
- It's too bad that the secondary market prices have gone up so much. It makes it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get any of the old retired ones for my daughter's collection. After all I thought it started out being for kids. How can kids pay "BIG BUCKS" for them? Or most adults for that matter? I think they are cute we like the adventure of finding them, but it's getting to the point that we can no longer find older ones to buy that we can afford and that is taking all the fun out of it. I'm not sure we'll be get
ing anymore of the older ones because of this.
- I never thought this hobby would consume so much of my time
- I think that they should come out with two bears that interlock hands and call them twins or friend ship bears so you give one to your best friend and you keep the other.
- I would like to know were you could give information on ideas for new beanies
- I love the quality of the products but wish the availability was better at issued prices.
- dislike: WIDE range of pricing by retailers
- I would like to see more Beanie Beanie baby drawings./
- As a business person (we breed raise & sell Welsh & hunter ponies ) it appals me that a store in Winchester, VA, believe it is Internat'l Collectors, is absolutely ripping people off left and right and TY allows this to go on, the lst ones I bought there, before doing my researc
- I like all the bears, not real happy that they are making the erin bear so rare and expensive. Shouldn't let the retailers sell them for more than $6.00. Some of them are selling them for $200.00 when they are hitting the stores. I thought TY was going to stop some of this.
- why do some stores sell beanie babies for a lot of money? The secondry market is become a big ripoff.
- accessable retired
- I would love to have Erin.
- A pricing restriction would be nice.
- I dislike when stores sell BB's for over $7.00
- I have put alot of money into collecting beanies because I enjoy them but it is upsetting when Princess and Erin can not be found unless you can pay hundreds of dollars. If this continues I will have to stop collecting.
- Authorized Beanie Retailers should not inflate the prices of current Beanie Babies
- I think that TY should make more Princesses, and Erin's, and that people should not sell beanies for too much money
- I have every beanie baby ever made except Web.
- I have every beanie baby ever made except Web.
- Beanies Rule!!!!
- I love beanie babies, they're AWESOME & RULE!!!
- Selling new ones for $250-450 is ridiculous. The normal person cannot afford this price.
- I think that there should be a store opened called Ty's in which Ty warner will own, it should sell only Ty beanie babies, plush beanies, and accesories, i believe it would do very well financially & will make it easier for people to find a store that sells beanie babies.

- Do not like the scarcity of Princess. More should be made for Princess Di charities and not greedy secondary markets.

- The only beanie that I am disappointed in is Princess, because the money did not go where it should have.
- dislike-greed of retailers selling to seondary markets not giving the true collector a chance
- I don't like all the greedy people who snatch up all the beanies so kids like me cannot get them!!
- it's very annoying to not know when the toys are coming into the stores and all the top-secret business with the buying - also, people should not be able to buy up all the tpys from children then resell them for milllions of dollars
- I would like to say that I really enjoy collecting Ty beanies, but I'm kind of tired of cats and dogs. I would love to see more different animals, maybe some exstinct, and even a few mythical ones. If there was a contest to give ideas, I would love to participate. I have lots of interesting ideas!
- I find that most people are in agreement that the real joy of Beanie Babies has been lost to the real joy of GREED. Why doesn't someone get a petition going to bring the Beanies back to the kids and people who love to collect them. Why should all the secondary market people and greedy dealers be in charge. there must be more of us than them. My name will be on any petition that will stop this madness. One lady offered my daughter Erin for $75.00. Then when she went on the internet the cost went up to $
50.00:( Come on Moms if you are really mad lets do something! Even honest store owners get around charging high prices by having raffles. $2 or $5 a ticket. I am tried.
- I LOVE BEANIES & THE (R) 1S
- I collect bears and am very disappointed that I could not obtain a Princess Bear for the price of $6.00. Not only for myself but for my son, who wishes he could have one.

- need endanger species
- Dealers selling hard to get to employees only
- what i hate about the beanie baby phenomenon is that authorized dealers sale the beanie babies for outrageous prices. it's very annoying. the authorized dealers seem to be forgetting that the toys are for children. i wish ty would do something about there authorized dealers. also ty is starting to make me angry because ty does not make enough of the popular beanies so everyone can have one. lastly i am mad at ty because their shipment schedules to the authorized dealers (i only go to ones that sells be
nies for $6 or less) so irregularly.
- Beanies are wonderful. I started because my 5 year old daughter loved them so much. As her collection grew - mostly from gifts from relatives, I began to get addicted. I feel that Ty needs greater control over what authorized merchants are doing with the Beanies they are sent. Many have become aware of how much Beanies are worth on the secondary market - so they want to collect that much in the Primary market. Two hundred dollars for a Beanie they paid 2.50 for is ludicrous! How can Ty continue
o supply these mechants with their product. Everybody wants the Princess Beanie - even non collectors - why won't Ty do everything in their power to meet the demand. So much money is being made in the Secondary market on Princess and very, very little is going to the charity as originally intended. Ty has to be aware of this, yet they choose to do nothing.
- Retailers should be able to set LOWER prices. $8- is hard to afford if you want a toy!
- I was on a list to get one of the first Princess' and when they came in the retailers, his daughter took them all to sell.
- I think it's great fun. Haven't had so much fun collecting anything in a long time!! And an added incentive is that you meet so many nice people, either in person at stores, or on the internet. Thank you Ty!! Recently, while waiting at a local "beanie find", we were there at 5:30 AM, I was reading something that I had copied from the internet, from a notebook that I keep such items in, and one of my beanie baby buddies, said to me "Hey, you look like you're preaching!!" My response was "I am!
his is the gospel according to Ty!" We all had a good laugh after that proclamation!!
- Love the product, hate the greediness!
- I think that many people are greedy on secondary sellings. I myself am very desperate to get the following : Britania, Maple, Princess, any new ones, and all "pre-october retired" beanie babies. Personally, I don't like the high prices in the newspaper. However, I do check them everyday for that hard to find beanie at that perfect price. I have a very good idea for a beanie. I think that Ty Warner should make a basset hound called " Sobber".
- I like going to different stores looking for beanies. For me the fun is in finding them. However, there are some unethical retailers out there who will say that a certain "beanie" is going to retire so they can jack the price up on it. I don't feel that is right. I also don't feel that adults fighting over the toy and grabbing it from each other is a good example for children. These started out to be something that a child could buy with their allowance and now, with the adults snatching them up,
t is hard for children to purchase the newer ones. I have personally seen people go into stores and buy 10 to 15 of one beanie so that they can re-sell it at a higher price. I think therefore, there needs to be more control on the secondary market. I purchase beanies for my daughter not so that I can make money off from them. I also think that when a new beanie is announced that Ty should have a good supply on hand, ready to ship, to retailers so that they do not create the frenzy of everyone looking f
r the "new" beanies at whatever cost. For example Erin the bear and the new beanies announced on New Year's Eve. To predict a retirement -- the pastel bunnies -- that way Ty can come up with new colors for Easter.
- It would be appropriate of Ty to attempt to get this item to the kids. Limiting access by limiting numbers that stores can purchase make it difficult for the kids to enjoy what was essentially geared to them. Let age determine the value (along with condition) not scarcity as determined by limiting the number available. Especially Princess. How astonishing that the proceeds would be donated but the regular folks can't even get a look at this beanie.
- I hope Ty controls the market so that value does not go down.
- Ty needs to offer Beanie Baby Trading Cards!!!
- I was on a list to get one of the first Princess' and when they came in the retailers, his daughter took them all to sell.
- We would like a cheaper price for, as young collectors, our budget is limited.
- I hope Ty controls the market so that value does not go down.
- We would like a cheaper price for, as young collectors, our budget is limited.
- need endanger species
- I have noticed that my beanie store that I buy them from only gets the newer currents and the new new ones. What's up with that?
- I am tired of greedy ADULTS hogging all of the Beanies and making life very difficult of the kids. This should be fun for the kids, and the adults take all of the fun away!
- the lack of supply when new ones are released
- I don't like the stores that post the time and date when they will go on sale. That creates long lines. I like it better when I just find them when I go into a store.
- I wish more retailers stuck to the $5 suggested retail price!
- I love to collect beanies and I think it is interesting how the beanie prices go up about $5 every 1 or 2 weeks. I like the fact that many people like to trade, because it gives me a better chance to get the ones I need for my collection. I regret though that I didn't start collecting sooner. My favorite type of beanie is the bears and I really like them all but my two favorites are Princess and Erin.
