Even though it might spur some weird interests I am sure it prevents at least some sex crimes or misbehaviors (no matter how minor). As moral standards vary within the US States and throughout the world I don´t think it is fair to pick the state/nation with the toughest standards and make them the standard for the whole net. Well, I am somewhat into porn still - I grew out of that years ago. I find it more difficult now than before to get porn.. You can see small nudity in advertisements but getting to the real stuff is more difficult now. I believe parents should be aware of the internet before they allow their children on. I would never let my kids roam in an area i was not comfortable with. Would you put your kids in a neighborhood you did not know? I doubt it. The internet is the most dangerous neighborhood and if ou dont know your way, you'll get burned and sometimes worse.

Sex is a natural part of life, even the life of a young child, the fact that we've created disturbing sexual images and are portraying them openly to almost everyone is somewhat irresponsible. I don't feel that sex is bad in itself (actually it's very good!) but there are bad people out there seeking to exploit innocent, sometimes ignorant people and it's our job as parents and re ponsible members of society to educate ourselves and each other on the dangers and the implications of sex and sexuality.

I think that it could be done more tastefully. You tend to "fall" into pornography more easily than when you are looking for it. For instance when titles of sites are named after animals. Children look up animals on the internet so the name "wild cat" should not be used to introduce a pornography site. Get it? Got it? Good!

There are alot of parents and organizations out there that would like to see the internet censored by the government to "protect" the children from pornographic material. This makes no sense to me. It is a parent's responsibility to monitor their own children. Turning that responsibility over to the government will strip the internet of porn, true. But it will also be another step towards stripping parents of their parental rights. More and more laws are being passed every day that are doing just hat. If this continues, are children will end up wards of the federal government. Sure, they will reside with us and we would look after them but we will have no choice on how to raise our own children! I think that it should be outlawed. Although you can not tell an adult not to look at it, it should be sencored to make sure children under 21 do not ahve access to it. I am under 18, and find sexual content in sites everywhere. Even if you just put in a simple word for the url, it takes you VERY easily to a site that children should not be in. At first you are weary of talking about Sex online, but the anonymity makes you more open and more likely to experiment. The internet is one of the few outlets for free thought and free choice left to Americans. There is some corporate and governmental control, but so far it is minimal. This is, I believe a positive aspect of the internet. Part of the American ideology is an over-reliance upon government to regulate our day to day activities. We look to government for solutions to even the smallest crisis. To make a long answer short; the internet is one of the only free (democratic perhaps?) sources of information eft to us. Sex ought to be out there in cyberspace for those that want it. It is their choice. A good parent will monitor their children, or take steps to keep them from seeing innapropriate information. I think that sex on the net is a way of showing people of any age, even under 18, what is out there in the real world. In a way, it is a modern version of sex education, and it is completely safe unless unless you come into acual physical contact with someone. I believe people place too much importance on keeping sexual material away from children. This is how people grow to believe sex is dirty, and why there IS so much sexual crime in this country. If you own a computer you should be the one responsable to prevent unauthorised access to questionable material by those that are too young to view it. Webmasters should be required to subscribe to a rating system that would prevent minors from accessing material. All a minor has to do is click that they are legal and there is NO recourse for the webmaster or the minor. Perhaps a tracking system built into Netscape that track accesses to sites that the parents could review at a later time and deal with the problem on a family level. It is natural to be curious about sex. Looking at nasty pictures idn't the solution. The problem should have been addressed WAY before the person turned to the internet.

I think that the internet can be a very helpful resource for people, especially young people, who are interested in "alternative" sexualities, but cannot find information/acceptance in real life. I think that the subject of sex on the internet is a sensitive one. On on side the net should be an open place, however it seems that anarchy rules and the accessability of hardcore porn is too easy. That I think is wrong. I believe that the subject of sex should be discussed in a modest and sober atmosphere. There's nothing wrong with a healthy debate. I think that the sanctity of the human sexuality has been deeply undermined in the course of modernization and is totally left open for abuse in the po t-modern era. Sex is about to become the least interesting thing after all its secrets has been revealed and explioted in every manner.
The Net should is the only place on Earth where censorship is not present. I believe we should keep it this. I think that there should be a way for the net users to go to one particular place that they have to register themselves (like Yahoo) to have access to pornography. As far as children that's the parent's responsibility.

It is the parent's responsibility to control their children's access to sex on the Internet. If they can't control it, children shouldn't have computers(and/or their own phone lines and accounts) or parents shouldn't have children.

I think the internet in some sense was made so popular by providing access to sexual images etc. It's the american way, everything gains popularity when it has to do with sex, just like VCR's at first.
