• I really enjoy collecting beanie babies. My only complaint would have to be the authorized retailers not putting out all their stock, selling to secondaries, and selling BB's for ourageous prices. Overall, I would like to say that most BB retailers are pretty honest and shouldn't be classified in with the dishonest ones.

• I'm very upset that so many dealers are (knowingly OR unknowingly) dealing with counterfeit Beanies. I went to a Beanie Show today and found NOT ONE Scottie that didn't have a suspicious looking set of tags and fur. It would be so much nicer if you never had to worry whether a Beanie was genuine or fake. Greed of the market is all that caused it.

• Do not give retailers such a bad name. Although the Ty site says that retailers are to sell no beanie for over $5, Ty reps are encouraging their dealers to raise prices on retired beanies and other "desirable" beanies such as erin, princess, etc.

• I think that the Beanie Baby Phenomenon is great, but sometimes it just pushes people too far. I don't think anybody would pay up to $4,000.00 for one beanie baby. Some collectors are way to greedy, setting abnormal and dishonest prices, and buying hordes of Beanie Babies when found. I strongly disagree with Les and Sue Fox in their Beanie Baby Handbood, which says something about "stashing away 10-15 of a type of Beanie Baby for a good investment in the future". This is not the purpose of Beanie B bies, for greedy people to make money and cheat people. The purpose of these Beanies is to make small children happy, with a cute toy that is fun to play with and inexpensive at the same time. Shame on greedy, selfish second hand dealers.

• Something has to be done about the dealers selling them on the secondary mkt BEFORE placing them in their stores. Its not right, and it creates too much of a frenzy when trying to purchase one beanie for your collection. Example: at Ebay ONE Fortune the Panda just sold for $75.00 I bought mine for $7.99 and do not plan to resell. Dealers are creating this demand for beanies, Ty is also not helping with holding back on certain ones. Thats how I feel. I love eanies, they are too cute! But for the regular kid who is trying to collect them, what are the adults teaching them by causing a ruckus every time a new batch comes out? I have seen children in tears over not being able to get that one beanie they want. Its very sad.

• Well, I think the issue price is a good deal, but I think too hard to get ones that are retired. There should be a BIG sale once in a while to help those who can't afford some really cute retired ones. For example, I'm willing to pay about $900 for Trap, but every store I've been to sell them for $1,200. I don't like it when some of the beanies' prices jump WAY TO HIGH and WAY TOO FAST. (like Princess, Erin, Grunt.. etc)

• Our Beanie collection was originally started just as gifts, however my daughter and I love them sooo much we just can't seem to get enough of them fast enough. I liked the one question on the survey I would love to start a beanie related business. My daughter and I make all kind of neat things for our beanies I would love to see some of them copy righted. I would also like to see some of the very first Beanies re-released like the dinosaurs and such. I was never able to find any of them and I would lov to start a collection of the prehistoric Beanies for my Grandson. He is 2 and simply loves dinosaurs!

Now that beanies are so hot they don't need to bring in more buyers, so what happened to loyalty? I never bought a beanie at another store if I could get it at my primary store. I am quite miffed.

• I honestly believe the beanie babies craze is nearly over and that the mrket will crash very shortly. Mu opinion is based on the fact that TY did not retire Princess and has promised that she will be available in all stores at $5.99 or so. This has caused those who paid $100, 200 or more to say, "that's it, no more beanies." Since that announcement by TY it can be tracked that the entire secondary market has crashed and once the secondary market crashes then the retail appeal will disappear very qui kly thereafter. As a former advertising executive, I believe the retailers need to do something very creative to keep the interest in beanies alive, and there should be a national coalition for some kind of marketing ideas. I have many, and know instinctively that if a marketing plan is not activated, the product that has been so many retailers' bread and butter will just go away. TY doesn't give a rip, he was smart enough to know the industry backlash by not retiring Princess. Frankly, I believe his m rketing strategy has shifted to gradually getting away from the beanies and out of them altogether by 2000.
• I buy from TY dealers only and have had to pay 400,150,215, for princess and erin and 15 for new releases I don't feel the dealers should be able to raise the prices llike this. They are the biggest reason for the price gouging in alot of the secondary market sellers.I can't sell something for less than I pay for it. And many of them are selling directly to secondary market so customers have no chance to get them. If it wasn't for the crazy demand, beanie babies might fizzle out. I will continue to collect beanies whether they are high valued or not. • I'm not really a collector, I just love stuffed animals in general, particularly the unusual ones (bats, platypuses, hedgehogs, dragons) and bears of all sorts. I find it offensive that Ty retailers feel they can resort to extortion to satisfy their greed for the almighty dollar. I will ONLY purchase Beanies from one particular retailer in the future because though she does charge more for rarities ($25 for Princess) anything over $5, even on the $6 current Beanies, goes to a charity (currently the A erican Cancer Society). She periodically chooses charities as recipients of these proceeds. I respect the efforts of those who are doing the right thing with excess profits and applaud their commendable efforts!

• I love Beanies and I enjoy the "hunt" of collecting. I've met a lot of great people standing in line waiting for UPS to show up. It's a nice investment, one that as a single mother, I can actually afford. I think for the most part retailers in my area (the upper peninsula of Michigan) have been fair. My theory about authorized retailers selling at secondary prices is the same as my theory for retailers who gripe about all the "crazy" people who buy them: for the consumer, if it's too expensive, do 't buy it and for the retailers, if you can't handle it, don't sell them. • I find the greed of retailers to be very sad and discouraging. The secondary market is exactly that, secondary, and the prices are negotiable and up to the buyer if he or she chooses to pay the price. Retailers are, however, supposed to stick to Ty's pricing philosophy and not ransom the new, retired, and hard to find beanies by making you buy a bunch of junk from their stores in order to buy a beanie.

• I think it is disgusting how the adults have perverted the market. There is absolutely no reason to sell a new issue(such as Erin) for hundreds of dollars except for greed. After a BB has been sold at Ty's price (5-7) then the secondary market people and their customers can do whatever they want, but a new issue should be available to everyone at the reasonable price.

• As a retailer we are between a rock and a hard place. Ty limits our shipments and the customers think we lie when we say we don't have any and don't know when they are coming in. The people who are willing to pay inflated prices on the secondary market are the ones incouraging the "blackmarking". I was in a dealership yesterday and enjoyed seeing a seven year old just buy Spunky because she wanted it. She tore off the tag and gave it to the dealer to toss in the trash. She was so excited. Mother paid o 5.25 for it and of course tax. Unfortunately in our area dealers have been hit by two men picking up the inventory on the floor and running out. The license tag turne out to be from a stolen car. So those dealers were left without their stock and profits. Most of our dealers are selling beanies about six dollars. Raising funds with the sale of Princess and Erin for local charities. Because of the low quantities being shipped by Ty, this is the only way to meet the demand. When Princess and Erin come in l rger quantities, we will sell them at our normal price of $6.00. Enjoy selling them to the custome who just want to fill out a collection, but hate the rudeness of the customers who are greedy and lying, only to sell on the internet or at inflated prices.

• This is a double edged sword. In order for beanies to remain of value, there must always be less supply than demand. For those of us that work full-time for a living, acquiring certain beanies is near impossible. It would be nice if more merchants would wait to put out their wares on Saturdays so that we have a chance. While I feel that the secondary market is what will keep this phenomenon going, I think some of the prices are outrageous. I have always wondered it people actually sell for those incred ble prices. I think that as long as Ty puts out less than the people demand, this craze will be around for a long time.

• retailers need to be more fair in selling to secondaries. it becomes difficult to find beanies because they grab them all up before anyone else gets a chance to buy them then sell them at exhorbitant rates. these animals were created for the children prmarily and it is sad to see a child cry because some jerk is selling current beanies for$15 or more a peice. i was fortunate enough to find a retailer that sells the beanies for $5.99, no matter which one it is. that is where i got my princess bear--$5.9 . you may have to get on a list, but you get your beanies for the price that ty suggests and recommends. these extorsionists, i mean secondaries, should be ashamed of themselves.
• what i dislike the most about the beanie phenomenon is that the ty corp. needs to adequately supply the retailers with the high demand beanies such as Erin and Princess ect. before sending us all letters stating that we should be selling all beanies for 5-7$ if we recieved enough of them to do this without making our customers angry because they miss the short supply that we would be able to do this with 36 each of Erin and Princess in a 5 month period is not enough to supply the demand we have for th se popular bears, he claims to not like what he is seeing on the secondary market with them but if he would meet the demand at the retail level this problem wouldn't exist. He also claims he will be cracking down on retailers who are selling above the suggested retial price, but a local retailer that has been selling Erin and Princess for $100, Peace for $50 and Valentino for $25 has yet to be cut off from shipments even after the numerous complaints that we know our customers have called in to them. Not o ly has he not been cut off, but he has recieved numerous shipments of these bears while we sit and wait and have our backorders cancelled! Ty Warner needs to put his pledge into action and stop paying lip service! How can we expect the company to close down these accounts when they aren't even able to keep up with the maximum amount of beanies the retailers are allowed to order every month, they had no business opening new accounts,of which our local ripoff store is, until they could fill the orders for t e customers they already had. It is also common knowledge among retailers that the accounts that are new since Jan. 1998 are recieving priority shipments! Lets be fair and stand by the loyal retailers who stick with the pricing that Ty suggests.

• I love beanies because they are so cute. Most of the ones I have are of sentimental value, because my husband has given them to me. I only buy the ones that catch my eye, and I am not interested in buying those that are hard to find, like Erin or Princess. I do think that many people take collecting much too seriously. For example, last week at our local mall in Hickory, NC, there was a fight over a shipment of Erins and Princesses. Yes, people actually threw punches over a $5.00 toy. I can't bel eve that people would make such fools out of themselves for a bit of cloth and a heart-shaped tag. After, as cute as they are, Beanie Babies are only toys, after all, and should be treated accordingly. I am sure the secondary value of the toys makes people all the more greedy for them. I, for one, will not succumb to such activities as fighting just to buy a toy. I applaud TY for their stand on pricing, and I hope they continue to produce high quality merchandise.

• I think that the beanie baby craze is dying down. The market is too saturated right now and has been for the past several months. The excitement that caused all of the interest was the fun of the hunt. Now they are sitting in every store gathering dust. That is, except for the few hot sellers like Princess and Erin. I have watched the prices on the retireds drop over the past few weeks. Ty needs to dry things up for awhile to generate interest again.
• I really enjoy collecting the beanie babies. It started out that I was getting them for my little 5 year old girl, but now I seem to be buying alot (especially retired ones) for myself. I started late (in Feb. 1998) so I rushed to get all the list of currents before the May retirement. I got all but two--Of course those two were retired in the May retirement. My luck. But, I don't like those secondary wholesalers who charge way out prices for something that should be between $5 to $10. I don't mi d paying more for retired beanies but current ones should be within a certain price range. But, all in all, I love collecting beanies and hope to do it for many YEARS to come!!
